It's from a Nine Sport article about Gout Gout setting a new U18 national record for 100m.

"Sprint prodigy Gout Gout has continued his metaphoric rise in Australian athletics with a stunning 100m heat run in gusty conditions at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in Brisbane."

I saw the TV news clip -I thought Gout Gout was a fair moniker for a sprinter

With a name like Gout Gout metabolic may have been a better fit?

His name is in fact Guot Guot - some Australian official got it wrong at some stage
Not an Australian official:
"His dad Bona told 7News his son’s name is actually Guot and is pronounced “Gwot”."
"His dad explained Guot became Gout due to an Arabic spelling mix-up when the parents fled to Egypt."

Gotta love werribee. This morning I went for my walk along the river and I saw a person who seemed really drunk and was standing on a fairly high bank along the river. I told him to be careful because he might fall in and there is no where close by to get back out of the water. He told me he wanted to jump in and kill himself. After managing to talk him out of it, he then wanted me to push him in. I told him that isn't going to happen. The police came and took him away. He was so close to jumping that I was shitting myself. Also, if I grabbed him, we both would've ended up in the water. I need a good stiff orange juice

Well done Manic. A lot of people would have lowered their eyes and walked past.

Tough situation all round - the sad thing is he would have been taken to hospital - sedated and discharged within 1 or 2 days with nil or minimum support

Your photo might be on the wall, with: Do not serve! Written above it.

Hope not - rugged hombres down them parts - inc me and he, them and youse and we and they

Cann River is an interesting place. A long time ago (about 30 years - yikes!) I did a lot of work in East Gippsland, sometimes very remote. Also have relatives in Mallacoota and in farming at Wangarabell (look it up - like I said, remote).

But the roughest pub I encountered was at Bendoc. The pub at Delegate River was a little challenging too.

Put it this way - they didn’t much care for my long haired vegetarian work colleague, who vainly searched the pub menus for anything without meat!

In 30 odd years of Social work and yearly refresher courses on suicide prevention, I've never had to talk anyone out of suicide. 3 years after retirement from Social work, I finally had to use it. Anyway, hopefully he's ok

Even worse if the victim declines your offer of mouth to mouth. “Think I’ll just wait for the ambulance”.
