I remember the jubilation when we got Ball, simply because it stuck it up Lyon.
The fact he was such a great acquisition was a bonus.
And those eyes, those dreamy blue eyes.:heartarrow::twohearts::blueheart:

St Kilda refused Collingwood's offer of pick 30 in the trade period, saying his true market worth would be revealed.
As it happened, the Saints wanted either of Nathan Brown, Tyson Goldsack or Sharrod Wellingham, all of whom had thrived that season.
It turned out Collingwood's pick 30 was exactly what the market deemed Ball to be worth, as they snapped him up in the draft.
Ball has handled himself with class and grace, and St Kilda has moved on too.
Lyon not so much.
In an interview with Damien Barrett, Lyon conceded that Ball's departure may have led to the Pies receiving significant inside information on his sides tactics and would have played a part in the Pies' 2010 premiership victory over the Saints.

"He took some IP (intellectual property), with Max Hudghton (as an assistant coach) to help teach the press to Collingwood, and their talent was very strong," Lyon said.
He continues to this day to claim Ball was "traded".

I will always contend that Balls arrival and the actual trade of Darren Jolly were two significant contributors to our 2010 flag.

Wasn't our last offer pick 30 and one of Wellingham or Goldsack?

I’ll be interested to see what McRaes views are on Sier. The relative silence suggests to me that maybe we want to keep him.
It is very interesting for my mind too. I've long been a fan of Sier, more based on what he could do instead of what he does, but I can't say I thought we'd keep him after our repeatedly not playing him this season. If he gets another chance on minimum money, that's fine by me, but I feel like me might seek opportunity elsewhere if we're adding Daicos and recruiting the likes of Lipinski.

Feel like the Bombers and Swans are both screaming out for a young inside mid to complement their talent.

McRae has the tools to reinvigorate and get the best out of a player like Sier. Whether we persist with him is another story.

I hope we do. I actually saw Sier the other day grabbing a coffee. Turns out we like our coffee from the same cafe.

I still really like him and hope he can thrive under a coach who he hopefully actually likes.

Indeed. McRae seems far more personable than Buckley, and I think McRae can probably get the best out of a ratbag more than Bucks

Fly must’ve had a look at the list by now and a decent chat with GW and co about it... any idea on when delistings will be announced?

We might not have anyuntil much later... after trade week when we know who we have moved out ( and in) and what’s our daicos points situation is. Can’t see the rush given we have already had three retirements.

We used to like to do good will trades to get blokes to a new club, which meant few delistings before trade week. Things may have changed though with the new DFA rules, which I can't claim to understand.

Leppitsch all but admitted today he will be at Collingwood in 2022. He said it was the worst kept secret on SEN this morning.
Yeah can't think of worse kept secret, since I dunno, McRae being coach.

I think we should,at least in the short term. Our midfield’s just too thin and too young to be discarding players like that. And who knows,McRae might be able to get the best out of him. It’s clear that the old coaching staff gave up on him,but who knows what a new coaching team can do with him.

Agreed, Timmy. He clearly has the talent. That talent was realised in his 2018 season. Perhaps a fresh perspective and a coach more attuned to development may get the best out of The Bear. I have a soft spot for the lad. He is a big unit, has the potential and seems to be a little quirky by nature. Despite my favour for him I felt like this would be his last year on the list. I hope that he is thrown one more year to test his mettle. If McRae and Co can't get him performing consistently then I fear he is well and truly done.
