Re: Create an AFL Guernsey

Wow i didnt know about Palermo.
Is that their standard strip?
That pink is a little too light for what I was imagining, but pink-black looks pretty cool there.
Still, I was being serious about a proper pink team.
Especially hot pink.
An under-utilized sporting color.
Time to break the masculine-feminine boundary on it imo.

Yes, their logo, away, third kit all involve pink.

Check it.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey

Another team that wears pink is french rugby union team Stade Francais, i'm convinced they have the worst uniforms out of any team in any sport ever.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey

Those Stade Francais jerseys are truly horrendous. More the designs than the colors. All equally horrific for various reasons. Like, the "THIRD" one comes the idea of looking like or actually made of denim.

Up there with them for worst of all time would have to be Hawthorn's checkered guernsey they wore once.

There you go GG, a footy jumper incorporating pink (an underutilised colour). Palermo's pink and black gave the inspiration. Our first 5 colour team in the AFL. No one in WS would have the nuts for it unfortunately.

the Sabre, also being the Sydney Tower.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey

If I had a football team, I'd seriously make the uniform pink and white, and call them the Daffodils or something, just to encourage the players to play hard and mean from all the abuse they get. But it would be a really nice looking hot pink top, some sort of white design on it, white shorts, thick pink short stripes, predominantly white socks with a thick pink sock stripe.

If someone wants to make one for me?

Port fans, ur thoughts?? ^^^^

In all honesty?

I'd rather go on Fear Factor: We Don't Give Out Prizes For This Sick Shit Anymo'! and suck the moisture out of a bukkake set janitor's mop than see that come to fruition, either onfield or in the Power Megastore.

Forget what's on the Power logo, Port Adelaide isn't pinstripes. It's prisonbars/wharf pilons - and even then, I'd hate to see a mishmash defaced effort like others have done that is only semi-black and white.

A black and silver effort would look awesome, but otherwise no.

Here's a clash that would hopefully keep Essendon fans happy. They keep their sash, it gets rid of any clashes. And I am sure the AFL would approve red shorts.

The Sash is slightly wider but not ridiculous like their wide sash, and to get more red on the front, cuffs and collar both red. The back full red (where most of the clash with St Kilda comes from imo) gets completely rid of that. While red shorts allow St Kilda to wear their black making them mainly black.

This would make a mainly red looking team, with the red sash on black on the front still, verse a majority black team in Collingwood, St Kilda and Richmond.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey

what is the ruling of red being a dark/light colour fromt the afl these days?

It seems as though red is now a "light" colour for Essendon, but a few years ago melbourne were knocked back for having a red clash strip.

I think, as crazy as it sounds, that the a jumpers "lightness" should be determined by what colour number looks best on it - black or white.

Thus...

Dark Colours:
  • Navy
  • Red
  • Maroon
  • Black
  • Green
  • Brown
  • Royal Blue
  • Purple
  • Teal
Light Colours:
  • White
  • Yellow
  • Silver
All main jumpers should be predominately dark, all clash jumpers should be predominately light.

But teams like essendon and sydney refuse to wear predominately light clash strips, so they, along with melbourne wear predominately red clash jumpers.

Which means the AFL interpret red as both dark and light.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey

The thing that pisses me off is the Swans. They have a predominantly white front but predominantly red back.

It'd be better imo if they wore an all red top with old Sth Melbourne-styled white V for home games. And the old Sth Melb top itself for away games.

I know that's not what your post was about, but it's something that aggravates me.

Absolutely mate, gives me the shits too. Which means that opposition teams can't wear white shorts in sydney. For that matter, sydney don't even wear white shorts when playing away anymore. Last time i saw this was about late '90s. Its one of the great traditions of our game, that the away team wears white shorts, but they've screwed it up.

In their case, red has to be a dark colour. In essendons case, red has to be the light colour. go figure.
