Which is why winning this series would mean so much. These clowns reckon they own world cricket - it'd be lovely to win back a trophy that has eluded us for the last decade.
I love how with double the population of the other test countries combined, having all the power and money, they have won f-all ICC trophies.

They have massively underachieved.

I have no doubt that last year's World Cup final loss still hurts them deeply, and they see winning the Border/Gavaskar Trophy as some sort of retribution for that loss. So there's another incentive to compound their misery.

I have never seen an oppo cricket team come to Australia and be as self entitled as this current Indian mob are!

Siraj's carry on by throwing the ball in the vicinity of the batsman after Loosebuschange legitimately pulled away and put his hand up to let the bowler know it was due to movement behind the sight screen was school boy crap, and as has been said before there is way too much lovey dovey stuff from the Aussies for their IPL mates, with all the in your face stuff coming the other way including Kohli and his non stop yapping in an attempt to get under the skin of McSweeney.

If an oppo player reacted like Siraj did in India and the umpires didn't call a `no ball' and censure the offender there would be a riot, but what we have now is a situation where the Indians due to weight of numbers absolutely dominate the politics of the game and the umps won't call them out on anything.

That was outrageous. Siraj should have received an official warning and be fined half his match fee.

I don't think it's so much IPL mates but just the relentless criticism of the world media - including our own - for the Aussies mental disintegration/sledging tactics in Test cricket. NZ kept getting held up as the paragon with their fair play code.

Fair play to Kohli he did stand up to the sledging in his early days and gave as good as he got, but he persists with the chirping when we have stopped.

The Tim Paine/Darren Lehmann era was probably the end of it for Australia.

But I bet Starc would have loved to have pointed at the pavilion when he took down Jaiswal first ball and given him a proper send off.

Too much bath water after clean sweeping India recently?
Probably thought they were invincible.

I read yesterday that Harry Brook's average outside England of 91 is now the second highest away average in Test history. He's only behind some hack called Bradman (102).

Yes, 7 of his 8 centuries have been in away tests.

Cloud cover and humidity seems to have blown away this morning. Could be good batting conditions for the day sessions in the Adelaide test.

Australia nicely placed after day 1 but we were in the game on day one of the First Test in Perth and look what happened. The task ahead is for Australia to consolidate on a good start and not let the Indians back in with a big second innings total.
I think the ideal scenario would be to bat for another 5 hours, and then put the Indians in under lights. Of course, ideal scenarios don't always eventuate - with our dodgy middle order, anything can happen.

FOX Sports blaming last night's lights out fiasco on SA's renewable energy policy. The SACA says it was a switching fault. Does that mean the SACA has Fawlty Towers? ;)

Sorry, but I thought I had better get in before Grave Danger.

Bwahaha of course. It's like the blackouts we had 8 years ago were the fault of renewable energy, never mind the high power line towers that were blown over in the freak storms.

But when NSW or Victoria has power blackouts, it's always blamed on infrastructure failure.

Maybe nuclear power can overcome destroyed infrastructure? Am I right?

Off subject but if you don't tell the moderator I won't. The national electricity grid is being extended between Robertstown in SA and Buronga in NSW to supply surplus power in both directions. The overhead transmission lines will run for 900 kms across open country. It is a welcome idea but if one tower goes down in a high wind so does the grid. Putting the line underground would be expensive but would it be any more expensive than going nuclear? The project, which will eventually connect to Wagga Wagga, and link to Victoria was approved in 2021 and was due for completion in 2023. Needless to say it is not yet finished!!!

Back on topic Steve Smith's run of outs continues.

As great a player as he's been, Smith's credits must be running out. Blokes like Konstas and Inglis are scoring tons for fun at Shield level, so surely the time for a tough decision must be looming.

Poms over 500 ahead of NZ with half an hour or so until stumps - on day TWO! Will Stokes learn from past mistakes and resist the urge to have a dip at the Kiwis tonight?? Also, it only seems like 5 minutes since that famous match between NZ and the Poms where the Kiwis chased down a huge target with the last pair in the last over of the match, but who knows with Bazball...
Root is on 70 - they might as well let him get his ton tomorrow.

Don't forget that Atkinson is on a double hat trick......

Solid 50 from Labuschagne after looking completely out of form.

Attacking 50* from Trav Head to put Australia in front.
