They flogged the players and stepped up the mind training. Sure, they re-designed it, Birdman style.

A response, no doubt, to the hamstring plague in the first half of 2017.

That’s a point in favour of my argument, not yours.

After losing Lever and Cameron. Net effect? Arguably a minus.

Bringing in Gibbs was the bare minimum pass mark.

Now here you’ve got a point. But for what? So we could beat them again at AO?

Our problem wasn’t (and still isn’t) that we couldn’t beat Richmond, our problem is that we are rubbish on the MCG, where the grand final is played.

What is this?

Richmond haven’t won anything for nearly 40 ******* years. The competition is suddenly broken now because for the first time in nearly four decades they’ve put together a side that’s hard to beat at home?

Tippett, Davis, Gunston, Vince, Dangerfield, Lever and Cameron reads like a who’s who of a premiership team.

Our problem hasn’t been getting talent, it’s been retaining it. And that’s on the club.

If what you say is true, and it has afflicted playing groups across multiple eras who have nothing to do with each other (no players left from 05/06, almost 2/3 of the 2012 team gone), what does that tell you about where the source of the issue might be??

This is adorably incorrect.

Keep pinning the boogie man, I'm sure you'll sort him eventually!!

Keep dismissing that the culture of the club plays no part in winning premierships, and it’s all because we haven’t recruited or drafted anyone good since Rehn and because the grand final is played at the MCG.

Ah, we're still on the trial version? Explains everything.
Yeah, if Fagan can just send the clubs bank details and passwords I’ll get them access to the complete version.

Maybe we should try reverse KangaTech?

(Seriously trying hard not to laugh at my own jokes, but when they’re that crisp...)
I can actually see reverse kanga helping the strings in someway.

Let’s review;

3pm on a Saturday.

Pyke and Burton.

No Chapman.

No Fagan.

No Roo.

This is pure spin, yet again. If they were serious, it’d be at a reasonable time, and they wouldn’t be wheeling Pyke out to take the bullets - yet again.

These weak pricks hide behind the players, to the point they have Fogarty front the media after a dismal performance - and they’re continuing to do it now.

If they want to be authentic - hold it at a reasonable time. Invite the members. Have all of the key decision makers there. What’re the chances they’ll get a bunch of Dorothy Dixon questions from sycophants and allies? Apparently they’ve requested Rucci not attend, as well!

Take some godamned responsibility across the organization and through the management hierarchy.

Meh.

I’m more interested in his demeanor than his words

If he’s dismissive and gets “offended” be can bugger off regardless of what he’s said

He’s ****** up. The whole football department has ****** up. He can show some contrition and accept what ever questions are thrown at him regardless how uncomfortable or unfair those questions are.

Either way, he can **** off.

Plenty of people have been fantastic at their jobs, made all the right decisions - except one; and that one bad decision was terminal enough to over write all of the good, and lead them to move on.

We’ve got this muppet, who has made poor decision after poor decision - it’s not like he’s a gun who made one bad call; he has ****ed up everything he has been involved in (at two clubs now).

I don’t care what he says, or how apologetic he is - he needs to stand down, or be sacked; anything else is just bullshit, unaccountable PR garbage.

It's not all black and white peter.

We could certainly improve, and shave a few goals off that grand final margin.

But you're very much living in a land of magical thinking if you think it's the huge, decisive factor in our going 20 years without a cup.

Long time lurker, infrequent poster so please don’t shoot me down.

Given what the players have gone through in recent years with the loss of two coaches, I don’t think anyone could question they’re a pretty tough and resilient bunch. I think what the problem was on gf day was the selection of unfit/inappropriate players and the fact we can’t play the MCG well - due to our lack of games there and the unique dimensions of the ground.

Surely, a more cost effective and less risky approach would’ve been to find a local oval with similar dimensions to the MCG and train there on a regular basis thus giving the players the exposure and confidence to utilise a wider ground and tweak their game accordingly. If they had gone down this path, rather than blame the players and the lack of fitness (which was absolute rubbish), it might not have created the massive divide amongst the group that currently exists. It may have worked, it may not have, but it certainly wouldn’t have caused the damage that currently exists.

Just my thoughts and I admit I’ve never played football in my life. I maybe massively over simplifying the issues. Birdbrain and co leaving would also be a massive improvement. The loss of Bode was a massive mistake and you only had to see how many of the players, trainers and coaches embraced him after the carlton game to see how much he was respected - all except birdbrain of course

Then post what the correct info is.

Stop acting like you have some secret knowledge, you don't.

Amazing the reaction a Kane Cornes tweet can receive.

I’m sure Brisbane Carlton Gold Coast saints fans want answers.

Don’t see those teams calling pointless press conferences to shut up Kane.

Brisbane refused to do Collective Minds when Burton tried, recognizing it for the garbage it is.

Burton destroyed Brisbane with injury when he was there.

Gold Coast are a rabble.

Carlton are a rabble - and they took Trigg, so, like us, their problems are their own fault...

But none of those sides played in a Grand Final last year - and then proceeded to make every decision possible to destroy this season.

Do what I’ve done. Live your life.

I’m still a Crows fan. It’s like a disease I was born with and I can’t find a cure.

Previously, I used to move heaven and earth to watch the games. I’d attend religiously every week and spend thousands of dollars each year on a membership, merch and booze when I was at the ground.

Even when I moved interstate I kept renewing my membership, shuffling my schedule, actively swapping out work commitments and skipping out on personal events just so I could watch Crows games.

The more I committed the more the club took a shit on me so I checked out. I stopped spending that money, I stopped worrying about swapping out events and I lived my life.

If I’m free for a game I watch it, if I’m not free - no biggy. My life is my priority, I’ll treat the club the way they treat me - at a distance with very little care.

I’m moving to a Europe in a month; I’d already had the convo with my GF about watching the Crows games while there, and the requirement that she be understanding of that....

Probably a wasted conversation - I’m drifting further to your view every day. What’s the point of supporting a team that players in an unbalanced League; but who also actively cripples themselves year after year?

I laughed.

I’d love to see you in that press conference actually.

At least I’d ask questions that mattered ;)

No, your problem is thinking that that list of names reads like the who's who of a premiership team.

That list is Dangerfield - our only top 10 pick since 2004 - and useful support acts.

Gunston went to a club that already had high grade talent on its books. Slot Franklin, Roughead and Hodge into our side and we might get somewhere.

We have spent the last 18 years having a mental breakdown every time it counts.

2005. 2006. All those home finals lost. 2012. 2016 where we were set for top 4 then inexplicably failed to show up in round 23.

The 2017 grand final was just another example of an entrenched mental weakness in this club which has spanned multiple coaches and captains.

We lost the contested possessions by 30. In the 2nd half as a team we just quit. We gave up. Sloane invisible, Walker invisible, when it counted.

Mental breakdown, and perfectly in character with the prior 18 years.

Clearly the treatment was wrong. But Pyke was correct to make that diagnosis.
I think this is the thing that pisses me off most about people melting in here. They recognised the need to fix the mental fragility. Hallelujah! They tried something out of the box. Ok so it didn’t work as planned. It’s failure has been magnified by the real issue - the injuries. The same people melting about this would be still melting if the Club didn’t do SOMETHING! They just can’t win.

So let's show em all and leave the comp then.

Sure is a disadvantage. So..........

We need to work harder than the vic mob. We know that.

Or, let's just keep winning the 'moral' cup. We can fill our 'moral' cupboard. We'll be the envy of the moral whateverthefuktheyare.
I've got an idea.

How about we enlist some mind trainers to help with the mental hurdle of the MCG...

:)

What could possibly go wrong?
