Making the choice to self media and then sending Birdbrain out in one of the most important pressers of the season is bizarre.

Like a true amateur he set and walked into his own trap. Makes light of the camp, says the club laughs at how overblown it's been. Then when asked about what happened he clams up. If nothing like what has been reported happened, why can't you tell us?

The bye week is for the players. Why does the CEO need a week off in the middle of the season. He'd get 4 weeks annual leave. He can take them any time. He can take them when games are on if he wants.

Also, as a CEO, when his business is in crisis, you cancel your holidays, or you phone in.

Hell, even Kochie went on the Footy Show to deal with the SPP stuff when he was on holidays, and he's not even an employee of Port.

I think that Pyke and Burton were probably the appropriate people to put up for that press conference, regardless of how it was handled.

A quick look around the other clubs and the CEO is often not seen as much as the Head of Football, we've maybe seen Brett once since he announced Lever left.

The issue we have with it is probably because he doesn't come across as having the authority someone in his role should have, so it seems like we've put up someone less than we should have. The right title to be the face of that press conference, not the right qualities, experience or resume to have the title.
