The Gunston trade stays alive a bit longer too, with Kerridge contributing to this trade. At this stage effectively looking like Gunston + pick 28 for Menzel, Jenkins and Grigg (plus late pick swaps).

Jack Gunston + Dangerfield + Pick 53 = Troy Menzel + Jenkins + Grigg + CEY + Pick 9 + Gore (+ Joyce)

Was he taken in the draft in which we were sanctioned?

Yes. Although he's in the same draft year as Brad Crouch who we were able to secure a year earlier, we didn't enter the 2012 draft until pick #62 (Sam Siggins). We also picked up Atkins (#81) & Hartigan (rookie) in that draft.

Just looking at the age profile of our list including the ins & outs of this trade period, we seem to have done a pretty good job of filling the talent gap created by the Tippett sanctions.

DOB 1992: Smith, Lyons, Seedsman, Brown

Absolutely cracking trade. Still can't get over the fact we've pulled it off.

Welcome to the club Troy, you're a part of the most dangerous forward line in the competition now. Enjoy.

As awkward as this?

It's on the club's Instagram

See if you can trade out the marketing Dept too :D :p, probably not with Carlton given their famous season campaign a few years back.... :p

Easily the steal of this trade period on face value. Clearly Carlton saw something, but a change of scenery is gonna do him wonders anyway. I'd probably jump off a bridge if I played in the Carlton fwd line.

If we didn't already have the best forward 5 in the league, we'd be hard pressed to not have the best 6 now.
Forward line TICK! AA quality
Defense Ticked almost...still waiting on Hartigan, but he's played under 30 games now, I think he'll be okay. He played awesome against the Dogs in the Quarter final. He is our only weak link in the back half.

Midfield - With a fit Brad Crouch tick. People are getting carried away with contested possession & Thompson, Dangerfield being 1,2 at our club and top 5 in the AFL. Hawthorn was 17th in contested possessions this year, what we need to do is organise clean disposal around stoppages. Seedsman & Hampton fix this issue.

Outside run = tick, Seedsman, Hampton have it in spades.

Then there's pick 9,13. We need to go for best available! Another good midfielder would definitely be handy.

Enjoy guys.

As I've said in a couple of threads now, it was in the clubs and Menz's best interest to facilitate a trade. We're entering a rebuild and Menz seemed to stagnate this year in a poor team. Plays a position that needs some more quality players around him.

Despite what a lot of posters seemed to to think, he always gave his all in spite of injury, poor delivery and no structure around him. His ceiling is still massive.

Thanks for Kerridge too! Reckon he'll be a lock in our 22 and is exactly the type of player we need at the moment.

Anyone read Jake Lever when they read those bios? Considered one of the absolute best in the draft, but slides because of injury.
Provided its not career threatening, nothing wrong with recruiting players who have suffered serious injury. Adversity breeds success so says my psychiatrist.

The thing about Kedge is he will work hard no matter what else is going on on or off the field.

Could be a massive upgrade on Bell.

Enjoy his performances against North :D

Using your list a 23 and under team might be...

B Brown Ramsay Laird
HB Hampton lever Kelly
C Lyons BCrouch Seedsman
HF Atkins Dear Menzel
F Cameron McGovern Gore
R Obrien CEY MCrouuch
Bench Grigg Knight Wigg

Let these guys play together for 5 years and see where we end up with top ups along the way.

Email your team selection panel immediately. Tell them no matter what, Kedge simply has to play against the Roos! Geez he loves ripping them a new one.

Did anyone else see a Carlton poster say Kerridge and 28 (a second round pick) is not a lot better than a third rounder?

I think I just became dumber for reading that.
