Did people enjoy 2017? Up until GF day anyway
Or does blocking out the lows also diminish the buzz of the highs?
That’s a long time back grandpa

Yes, I loved it . Went to the GF. would try and go again (lol). But realising that a week later I was pretty much over it (as opposed to 2005/06/9 where I was pissed off for weeks) showed me where I was emotionally.Did people enjoy 2017? Up until GF day anyway

I’m going against the grain here. I have been a member since 1998 and endured all the ups and downs that come with following an AFL team. I’ve come to a point in my life where my investment into football is purely entertainment. I like a win, but I’m also okay with a loss. I once dedicated my time to knowing every crows player and everything I could about the club. I then started gambling with our club. No not money, but instead my emotions. I’d put all my emotions on the table and if we win, I’d be elated and happy, but if we lost I’d be angry, and unhappy. I gave up control of my emotions to a bunch of blokes kicking a ball around, and it took me a long time to realise that was actually NOT Okay, especially if I non-deliberately took it out on my loved ones.
So where am I going with all this? As much as I want us to win, I’m actually okay when we lose. I’m also not worried about the coach win/loss record or whether he’s the right man for the job. I mean I’d like him to try the kids more, but I’m not going to lose sleep over it. I’m also not too concerned about whether players like Smith, McHenry or Murphy play well or not. I just want to watch the footy and see what happens. So this is not an “all is rosy at the AFC” thread, but it’s not an “oh my god we’re gonna die” thread either. It’s just a I love the club and I just am going to enjoy the ride. Surely I’m not alone in this realisation?
