Hmm, didn't realise it spread like Contagion does - I've been spamming the System Reset quickhack (basically the non-lethal version) since I got it, and that doesn't seem to spread

Just figured it out, it's the cyberdeck i'm using causes ultimate quickhacks to spread and suicide is an ultimate

Like most I've been a bit put off by the bad press, but just got a PS5. Is there problems with it still on the PS5?

I'm on PS5 and have had one graphic issue that lasted all of 10 seconds where I was looking from someone elses perspective on restart after dying, had no crashes.

Played for the first time in about 8 days last night, my frame rate is a hell of a lot more stable, my spikes only drop to maybe 55fps in built up areas instead of 35. And rendering distance looks better all ready. Probably needs a few more patches but its looking better all ready

Might be useful for those on PC that are still playing

TL;DR
In order of things to turn down to gain performance
- Ray tracing (if you have a lower end RTX graphics card)
- Screen space reflections to medium (only useful in the city/when its raining)
- Volumetric Clouds (mostly useful when in the Badlands, but don't turn it off completely)
- Volumetric fog density (mostly useful when in the city)
- Crowd density, only if you are CPU bound
- Shadow settings don't have a huge impact on FPS
Neither does anisotropy

I definitely agree with the statement about the gangs not being made unique enough.

I don't necessarily care that they're cliches, but why not do more that offers more expansions amongst the core mechanics of the game?

I don't know the lore of the Cyberpunk universe, but I feel like having gangs that are susceptible to certain types of weapons/damage would be so much better. As far as I'm concerned, even though that stuff is there abouts, it doesn't influence the game enough to make it a factor. If I have a powerful enough weapon, it just tears through everyone. But really, I should have to have all these different load outs to combat gang a and gang b. When I enter this part of town I need this and that, instead I just go for whatever has the highest DPS. The extra stats and effects are basically useless.

As has also been mentioned, why isn't there any territory battles/ground to gain. It's one of the more simple open world mechanics, that could offer a ton more exploration and reason to spread around more of the world. But instead, there's none of that.

The ironic thing about 'that' 7/10 review, is that the main contentious points, I agree with.

Crafting is extremely superfluous, which is the opposite of what it was in The Witcher 3. In The Witcher, you basically HAD to craft, you needed to upgrade armour, needed to make potions. All of that stuff was effectively essential and I doubt most would've been able to get past many sections without it. I've literally gone into crafting once, there's just no need for it.

The assault in progress, reported crime and suspected organised crime stuff could be HUGE, if used in the right circumstances. That whole 'corrupt' thing could play in so well, you could easily play on the side of the crims or play on the side of the cops by taking these things down. Instead they're just window dressing as a 'well I'm here, so I guess I'll do it'. Instead of being an integral aspect of the game. The whole thing of 'Cyberpunk' it toeing the line, being on the side of nobody and playing everyone against everyone, instead there's no real tension amongst the game for the most part.

In all honesty, I don't know why they didn't put 'Cybergwent' into the game. As much as we joked about it, that'd be such a perfect fit in this game and they could've ripped it straight from The Witcher and basically only altered the art. It'd just offer a nice extra little change up and element.

Really, it's a very un-RPG, RPG game. You really could equate it far more to a GTA than I was expecting going in. Other than the immense amount of dialogue, there's not a hell of a lot more that strikes this a part from any of your usual action games, which all have RPG elements sprinkled in these days anyways. Hell, Assassin's Creed is far more RPG than this is, right now.

The world is incredibly well put together, but why do I get to 'talk' to basically every NPC in this world and they give me some generic, non sensical response that means nothing and adds absolutely nothing to anything! Why not just take that 'talk' button away?

As has already been mentioned the story, writing, dialogue and missions/side missions are mostly excellent. But it's missing a hell of a lot more around that to really round this out as a game for the ages.

I agree with all of that. I'm about 40 hours in now and should finish before 2021 but the more I play, the less interested I am. It is a perfectly acceptable game on next gen (for me at least). But they would have to change a lot for me to play it again when the next gen update comes out. It won't even make my top 5 for GOTY and that sucks when I remember how I felt about the game pre-release. With no bugs, it's a 7/10 game at best.

I haven’t played the Witcher, am I wrong to feel this isn’t doing a lot to have me get around to it one day?

Don't judge The Witcher on this. It is much more enjoyable.

Got bored of doing side quests and just belted through the last few main quests touch under 50 hours all up, overall it was ok but I won't be rushing to replay it and will prob just read the other possible endings online.

Even playing on the second hardest difficulty it claims at the start you will need to use combat drugs and stuff, but a combat drugs don't really exist and you can brute force basically everything without much trouble

Think the only major thing I didn't do before finishing was adam smasher with rogue, silverhand was annoying me by the end so I just did the opposite of everything he wanted. The only thing that annoyed me is the final option was panam or arasaka and then they just shoehorned Judy in after the quest was done. It felt like none of the other relationships meant anything except for the panam questline

Is this game worth playing on next gen consoles or is it a why bother and wait for the update sort of game.

I would wait and get it once the price drops a bit, the storyline is decent but gee it could have been so much better

I keep popping into this thread to have a read, and my decision to not get this game yet seems to be a good one, I was fully expecting this game to just blow everyone away, doesn’t seem to be anywhere near the case.

I do wonder how far off a PS5 and Xbox series X/S version is though.

my main gripe with the story was the having a timebomb in your head that will kill you but having an openworld where you can fap around doing sidequests. I found that really dumb.

The main story was good and compelling but combining that with an open world didn't work as it breaks imerssion that the whole you have to hurry or you die story is pointless imo
