Well done tho NOBs and Terry on the weekend on a great win.

Must be a huge relief!

That win boosts his winning % to 25%, in the past 12 months( 4 from the last 16) and hopefully it can continue on an upwards trend.

Well done Scano!!

You could quite possibly be the biggest tool on big footy.

How many club umpires at friars have reported their own players?

club goal Umpires are put there to make decisions, and when they do they get criticised.

Incorrect! There would be at least 5-10 bigger tools on big footy than myself!

I believe 44 asked 2 that if he no longer wanted to play football and just fight he was happy to do so, but suggested that they wait till the end of the FOOTBALL game before starting the boxing match. Very surprized that your goal umpire who had such a good eye to be confidently making line ball decisions suddenley became a little hazey when it came to reporting 2 for striking.

pretty sure club goal/boundary umpires can't report anyone.

its been a day and a half and no werribee talk ?? what's going on down at that front running joint they call soilders ? maybe youth and skill just dosen't get the job done against bigger, better sides,

Have NOBS turned the corner ? or a fitzroy just like they always are - middle of the table side ?

Oms just get over the line - interesting,

And south melbourne ???? where are you people ?, another preseason of promise and bigfooty pump up has turned into a battle to actually win a game, still plenty of time to turn it around,

Well done drifter, the animals, a fine club and great victory.

rupo continue on their merry way, although sooooo much work to do as they continue to adapt to new game style, god help the side they put four quarters together against

Geez, the dreaded drop zone has heated up so early in the season,

We have been a very quiet as of late but not alot to be bosting about. I think you will find that SMD ppl in pre season said we were confident with the year ahead and alot of other teams tipped us to be high on the ladder. Anyways its only round 7 and we are 2 wins off 4th spot so we believe we can still make finals and have an impact. We had a good night on the track last night where we discussed some home truths and we are pumped for Prahran.

It's worth noting that we have played 35 players in the seniors for various reasons and they will only help in the long run. We definently have alot of upside left in us.

Good luck to all teams for the remaining 11 games.

1. If you haven't noticed there's no game this weekend.
2. Learn to spell soldiers
3. Don't disrespect the sides we have already beaten
4. And for a side of front running, youthful and skillful players;
being second at the break isn't bad.
5. Remember this is our first year in D1
6. Let's talk after the next two games and then make an assessment

MF that's a huge call on Werribee especially if you haven't seen then play. As much as the weekend gave me the "Con Britt's " you could see that they are a very useful bunch of players and agree with West that to be 2nd is a top effort. No doubt Rupo are the form team but don't get ahead of yourself Werribee will really test you blokes!

D1 pretty interesting grade and I must say I have been surprised by the standard which I thought would be a lot poorer then it has. Certainly every team that I have seen play Friars have been capable and I don't reckon there's an easy game at all this year.

Westy for the record I will ensure that scones are on the menu when you make the trek out to Park Orchards!

Just a Quick note to all you haters out there. After reading all the crap on here about Werribee being so confident about winning the flag or installing themselves as flag favorites i decided to go back and check the threads. Shock result!!!! Couldn't find anything, as a matter of a fact i would find it hard to believe that myself (Two's Coach) Westy (Club Pest) Gary Baldi (Clubbie's Coach), who are the only people on this site that are known to us would go and make a statement of such magnitude. We love playing in this comp because on any given week the result is never a given. However if we didnt set the bar high maybe we'd be on the cusp of D-4 like we were a few years ago.

The only givens at our club are
1. Matt Taylor will get locked up before season end.

2.Westy will talk for too long after training.

3.Rocca will slay them at Mynt

Actually any Taylor is a shoe in to be locked up before seasons end.

4. and Stuey will recall the 2007 reserves grand final and how he turned the game on its head :D

Here we go ... season hotting up! Will be interesting to see how Rupertswood go against Werribee at Soldier in a week or two.. Old rivalries rekindled? Rupertswood might finally meet their match against a young, running, skilled Werribee side. Also interesting to see what happens at the business end of the year - Rupertswood are experts at jumping divisions on the back of Grand Final failure.

Good luck to Nathan Addamo who copped a nasty injury in the state game. Hope he can get back on the field soon.

Well done to the 4 ESL boys too who played in the rep game - the whole club was happy to see them get selected.

Cheers

Thanks Drifter. Will know by weekend how he's faring. Will pass on your thoughts.
Great to get back to winter:D. Training was pretty hot last night:D

Just wondering whats everyones thoughts on Mr Andrew Hayes start to the season as coach of the mighty OM'S. Is he doing a good job. or the picture a little bit blurry with the load not being spread evenly and the team being carried by an ageing and portly veteran in S Hecker. I personally think he is a doing a great job and is bringing in some new and innovative ideas to the club (the type of ideas, gameplans, and training drills that have not been seen before at amateur level anyway )even though they are playing the same way as the collingwood vfl side. There is also a few rumours doing the rounds that a certain senior player in the side who has a penchant for walky talkys on the weekends when he isnt available is being picked ahead of some younger more deserving players. Look forward to your reply snips

Ok rather than speculation, coaching complaints or poorly disguised banter I’ll just stick to footy. Huge couple of matches approaching which can potentially separate the top 4 from the rest and plunge teams into relegation via points.

Aquinas to beat a battling Nobs outfit. Both are on the improve and the Old Boys will draw confidence from a gutsy win over Fitzroy, but I cant see Aquinas dropping this one at home. 14 points

Whitefriars CANNOT and WILL NOT lose. Emmaus will be staring down the barrel of relegation after another thumping. 74points

Rupo vs Mentone will be a beauty. Equal match of the round which should tell us exactly where Mentone are. Still not sold with a close one against Aquinas but impressive over Whitefriars. Rupo to continue their winning streak 27 points.

South Melbourne convincingly over Prahran 34points

Fitzroy vs Werribee (Equal match of the round): Probably the hardest winner to pick with both sides going down to Whitefriars. Fitzroy hard to beat at home, whilst the boys from out west desperately seem respite. Fitzroy to get up in a blinder 5 points

Friars by 22 points
Rupo by 35 points
Prahran by 50 points
Werribee by 10 points

NOBSPC V Aquinas by 26 points
ESL V Friars by 55 points
Rupo V Mentone by 60 points
Prahran V SMD by 20 points
Fitzroy V Werribee by 8 points.

Young Monk,

Whats the above assessment based on.

Dont think our teams have met in recent seasons so and cant recall - have you had a few 12 goal wins this season....

Or is it based or your opinion that we are the worst side in D1 - fair enough if you have watched us (hopefully more than once) as we do sit bottom at present?

Finally is it neither of the above and you just sense the Friars are lifting in form.

I tell you what - if you beat us by 74 points tomorrow - ask for me in the club rooms after the game and a beer is most definitely yours as your team will have earned it well and truly:mad:

Cheers

- have you had a influx of players returning from injury this week???

Dont think SMD can win this one. Only went down to OM's by a point few weeks ago and have 6 blokes from best 18 back this week

Keals, I have not much method to this madness, other than when SMD look like their a good chance, they lose and lose dramatically, and when you are given no hope, your up and about.

Dont take it personally. Prahran have been competitive in pretty much every game this year, despite thier place on the ladder and opposition and are extremely underrated in my opinion. I think SMD will have a very tough task on their hands this week. hence the 50 points. Prove me wrong keals.....

NOBS by 12 over Aquinas.
Friars by 25 at ST Leos
Rupo by 12 over Mentone in what may be a wet and wild day.
Prahan and SMD hard to seperate. Go with SMD in a close one
Fitzroy may be to physical for Werribee. Fitzroy by 4 goals.

I'm sorry lionandahedy but I cant comment on off-field matters. What I can comment on though is how the old mentonians have conducted themselves this year on-field. I believe Mr. Hayes' troops this year have been under less pressure. This is probably due to not having to undergo pre-game assaults and abuse which dissettled the players last year.

Also this week we celebrate the end of Ryan Alexander's career who was forced into early retirement after he's break of swine flu actually turned him into a pig. After training tonight he will be handing his jumper over to young star tim 'chooka' speers whos on-field performance last fortnight elevated him off the rookie list.

The Legend Rests, cant you get your own tips for this weekend?
