Always room for a player of your quality Vet. Not sure if we agree on the meaning of the word fit though. Get to training
Big improvers my boys on Saturday, we should of had the win. Got the feeling Aquinas just wanted it a bit more in the last 10 minutes. But a massive improvement on last week.
I managed to photocopy Scribes game plan for next week when he wasn't looking and as we're starting to find some form we'll be right to reverse the result from our practice match.

Big day at the BSO this week, even heard Hutchy and Dr Turf talking this game up on the radio.

My spies told me the the two's went well. I was not talking about me making a comeback i get the feeling a former goal kicking machine may be keen to step straight back in the goal square.

Harps/VET,

Is that goal-kicking machine the big fella who almost knocked me out with the dirtiest stare possible during the PM at Ramsden St?

Didn't take kindly to some boundary-side words of advice I gave his opponent (our full back) about "running him around". Then told me if he knocked out out our full back as a result of getting upset, it would be my fault - he wouldn't be responsible for his actions. No wonder our full back played 25 yards off him for the rest of the afternoon.

Looking forward to a reunion. Might try to get back into the senior side for this one!!!:D

Yes Vet, i saw the former FF you speak of spectateing at LHO on Saturday and must say I look forward to seeing if the big bloke still has it in him.

Scribe, it isn't the really big bloke that scared you at Ramsden although he too is threatening a return.

Add to this the playing permit renewal of a recent premiership winning FF and the SMD reserves could but together a FF line to rival the big V's of a few years back when Lockett, Ablett and Dunstall all signed the same team sheet.

Exciting stuff at the Districts

Careful Harps, don't pump them up too hard or you'll skid into a ditch.

Ian Cave...i heard there was a dubious free kick given in front of goal in a reserves game with about 2 micro seconds left on the hooter ...did you and your relo have anything to do with that...mmmm...spaceships.

Milkman,I didn't realise you were at Gerry Green maybe you have a mailman ? He would be right The Vultures got a armchair ride from one particular umpire, we still ran away with the chocolates just like Michael Moss did at my eighth birthday party with Phil Amore,Clint Ferguson & Chip chasing the rolls royce of eating machines around Thomas St. park..........

SMD will get smashed when they meet NOBS and Old Ment.... end of story..... sorry but its the way its looking. Both teams appear to be the strongest so far.

what happened with Peninsula on Saturday panther man? I thought they were meant to be looking ok this year?? Or are you boys just looking the goods?

Peninsula didnt look that bad. the panthers just played better footy. I think the problem at peninsula is their bottom 5 or 6 players are very weak. Thats where we hurt them. Our bench rototion ment we had fresh legs. Peninsula couldnt rotate as much because their bottom players just arent good enough.

They have a lot of good players; rees (who had to ruck), rombotis, smith, oconner price, payze and coghlan all star players who would be top players at any club. Biggest problem is they just fall away to some real spuds coming off the bench.

They might not end up being where I thought they would be, but they won't be the worst either.

Gotta feel sorry for Yarra haven't been smashed once, just don't know how to win. Hopefully this week they can get up and remember what winning is about and get on a bit of roll.

Bullen are by far the team to beat with NOB's next.
We are good, but NOBS out coached us and played better team footy.

Match of the round would have to be Bullen vs Mentone.

jak, in case you haven't experienced a fairdinkum rivalry humour me for a second. As it stands at the moment SMD and Aquinas are, in a footy context, at war. It wouldn't matter if Aquinas were 4-0 and we were 0-4 there would still be more feeling to the contest than most other games (as it is whenever we play Bentleigh). It's an intangible element that you just can't manufacture that makes our games so exciting to be involved in and really has nothing to do with how our clubs fare over the whole season so why try to censor it.

By the way, the ledger is now 3-2 our way so if you're not doing anything on the 28th of June head out to Aquinas College, the action starts at 11.40 and will still be going hard till around 4.30.

Harps, you should re-read my last post. I get fed up when bigfooty folks go on about teams not being hard enough at the ball. Its the old mine's bigger than yours story. Fact is both teams need to start securing their position in this grade by having a few wins. By the way, other games on 28/6 include OM's v NOBs and BT v Prahran. If you seriously think both these games will be less enjoyable than the Bloods v Bloods match then I will be there.

Having played in the game on the weekend there was no way known either side were "soft at the ball". While i have played in harder games i was still very sore on sunday.
I think SMD and Aquinas will have a long rivalry and while it may get heated on the field once the final siren goes we get on very well which is how it should be.
I think it will be alot closer game down at Aquinas ground.

Onto this weeks game against the roys, it shoukld be a cracker. Should get a big crowd. Hopefully both sides can field a strong side but i do know that we will be without 4-5 from last weekend.

Oh yeah?

Well,....well we will be without 5 or 6 from the weekend, including our starting ruckman, ruck/rover, centreman, CHB, CHF and team manager.

So there! ;)

Hmm....maybe Harps was lying to me yesterday when he said he wouldn't have to pull the boots on this weekend. Might have to revert back to plan A if that's the case.

NB - post-match festivities will be held at the Fitzroy Bowls Club (10m from the ground) due to the commencement of redevelopment works on the grandstand, including the community/social rooms. Looks like FBC will make a killing on Saturday night!!!

Not lying Frase, copped a great corkie in highflyers new handball drill last night that definitely will have me missing any form of running for a while and I think I said it loud enough for everyone to hear that the next game of footy I play will be in super rules.

You didn't really expect me to believe that Mieghan has a dodgy groin did you?

He does - but the others were an elaborate ruse.
We'll be roughly at the same strength as last week against Yarra.

No surprises.

As for you Ross, you ruled yourself out to me about 2 hours prior to said corkie. Unless you were having second thoughts on the drive to training??? Mappa will be so disappointed, after bagging 5 at Domeney, he was looking forward to your company this Saturday.

I'll admit it, I really want another crack at Mappa, especially now that he has found his goal kicking boots.
But....3 consecutive thumpings with me on the field and an honourable loss with me off the field....well, you do the math.

Come on harps and scribe, this is getting ridiculous. you guys see enough of each other during the week, then you go home\work and get on here and have a little giggle together... I was joking at training the other night Harps but maybe Mrs Harper should genuinely be worried.

from that photo you put up earlier she has aged horribly in the last month!

Maybe you should focus on doing your homework and keeping the house clean with all your free time instead of having a go at Harps.

Harps those clouds are looking menassing, how do yiou think Killer will respond if i say i cant train again? Might be a game in the early game.

Good luck to both clubs in what should be a great day of VAFA football. A good plug in the small paper today (I had to read it on the train - the braodsheet a little cumbersome)

Jeez, a guy gets an invitation to have a run around at rep training and then pots one of his coaches and his wife. Are you still pissed off for last years prelim Sparkles?

Interesting to note that Fitzroy have requested SMD wear red shorts this weekend. Apparently this was decided for television asthetics?

Can someone from the Reds elaborate?

The Seniors are wearing a one-off heritage guernsey Harps. It's the 1950s Maroon, Navy with the white FFC. The jumpers would look a bit silly with red shorts, so I presume they are wearing white for that reason. We wore these jerseys a few years back with the white shorts at Brunswick and they looked really good..

The Reserves will be Reds (Red) and South Melbourne (White) as per usual. Best you tell all your players to throw in both sets just in case there's any confusion :D

Thanks Mappa, are these the Fitzroy Gorilla jumpers?

So there giving invites to forwards who refuse to pass even if there are free people in the square. Interesting. Might have to start playing selfish footy!!!!
