a top day was had at the south oakleigh club yesterday. talk of preseason was about as well - cant wait for that to happen!!

did you happen to talk to lawry or robbo about the fact their names are being thrown around as candidates to walk up the road and sign on with stpauls in the SFL? the club really needs those boys. whether its in D2 or D3 the dees better hope these guys hang around for every minute of the ride. also any word on the first training session?

I know for a fact Peninsula will be offering them big dollars. They have plenty of cash.

I think you'll find that most times when blokes who go to other clubs for $$$, they find that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Especially when the SFL is dying as a competition.

You can't put a price on playing at a club with your mates struggling through hard times & then finally tasting success. It would be shame for them to miss out on what might happen!!

no. i didnt get the chance to have an in-depth with either of them on sunday. if st pauls east bentleigh have offered coin, then lawry & robertson have a massive decision ahead of them. guess we'll find out all in good time.

im sure we'll know our first preseason session when we know our new coaching staff...

Huge get for the boys from the Garvey. Word has reached the old dart that they have picked up a quality A Grade coach who knocked back an A Grade position in 2009 to coach them in D2.Dont know how they did it but it is big news.

You're right and I can tell you one player I have spoken to after he was thinking about leaving said "It wouldn't feel right leaving Bentleigh".
I like to think we have a history of loyalty and hopefully everyone makes the right decision in the end and stays on board. After so many losses in recent times it would be stupid to leave when it looks like the only way is up and a large group of quality youngsters are quickly being introduced to senior footy.. always exciting.

I like to think we have a history of loyalty and hopefully everyone makes the right decision in the end and stays on board. DryBones, looks like it will be a few big weeks coming up for the Dees'. Id say a meeting this week may determine if 3-4 may go, while a coaching selection may bring some new and old faces back.

I would say VAFA A grade players as the coach Thinker is tralking about is a former Old Trinity coach. Will be interesting to see if he does bring some players with him.

Was just replying to it in this thread as that's where Nikes first brought it up.. and as Sniper says, we may still yet be in D2 come next season, but hey this is the D2 2008 thread and I'm sure we were in D2 in 2008.

Definitely confirmed, has already met with committee to outline pre season structure. Bringing with him a very experienced assistant coach as well.

I am a bit out of touch being overseas but it is confirmed. We have received the members notification to tell us that they have appointed the former A Grade coach who I believe was offered a 2009 A Grade position but knocked it back to coach Old Paradians in D2. An excellent coup, I would suggest.

Don't shoot the messenger.. as I said it wasn't me that originally brought it up and all I was doing was replying. I'm not going to reply in another topic when here is where it was being discussed. Actually the topic we are talking about is very much to do with the 08 season.
