Drifted between 2 games on the weekend.

Left a rather boring A grade game to watch Leo's trounce the depleted
Ol' Westbourne.

Missed the magic of young Beluszar. Has he jetted OS?

Peanut! How many more dropped on the stroll to the ground from exhaustion?;)
Hardley call Packer park frog swamp any sort of civilization though!
Are the turtles officially done for the year?

Lout, the stroll was meant to be a joke. Packer Park a swamp! It has excellent facilities and a terrific ground surface with a playground second to none in Victoria. Look at your own facilities. Change rooms in a school, portable training lights, players having to stay on the ground at half time rather than walk back to your rooms and lack of off field support. Also before you call me a peanut learn to spell moron. Yes the Turtles are done for the year.

A little thin skinned aren't we princess?
I guess a great playground makes for a ripping football ground now doesn't it, gives clowns like you somewhere to hang out during the main game!
Last time I was there the entire area behind the playground was full with swampy water, and gee isn't the theme of the playground a swamp given all the frogs etc placed around it? Before you try to have another cheap shot at me, my kids play there quiet often, since I live in the area. Its muppets like you who prevent locals from following your club, I'd rather go and watch a Murrumbeena game! I was having a light hearted, tounge in cheek poke at it, but hey, your right, at least the playground is great!

Go to Murrumbeena moron.

anyone here watch the SMS vs St Johns game?

heard that SMS played a few young players? anyone know how they went, who were SMS's best players? from what i see it was an improved performance from SMS, maybe these young players could save their season? anyone have any further info?

Yes i travelled up the highway to watch the SMS vs Jocs match.

SMS did play a few kids in the 2s and about 6 in the 1s. The 2s was a very good quality match until the last qtr when SMS legs stopped.

Joc's should have won by 10 goals in the 1's as missed some easy ones. Having said that SMS were a lot better than our previous meeting.

SMS did have some quality young kids. Evans who went down in last qtr after a heavy fall was very good, and no 14 who i hear was 16 certainly looks a player in the making.

Not all bad for SMS me thinks, quality club rooms now too!

At least he didn't have a crack at that "jumper". Poor-mans Hampton Rovers outfit to me, now there is a team local enough to follow..

i heard from a friend who plays for St johns that an SMS youngster bombed an impressive goal from 60 out in the last quarter, if they can stay up and keep these kids I hear so much about I think they can trouble a few teams next year

Turtles aren't done PS. Some easy games coming up and very few injuries.

Turtles may be slow, but the earth is patient.

wombat1 are you expecting Latobe to be an easy win?
they are not playing grewat at the moment but they still manage to win which is a sign of a good side as an ugly win is better than an ugly loss
and Therry are not sitting second because they can not play football
me thinks the fat lady could be warming up for the turtles

Isn't the LaTrobe game at Turtleland? I reckon they have a shot considering they got close to the Gelen Eira Swampies regardless of the fact Strobes reckons they had 5 out.

Last time I checked "Doc", at least the Eltham jumper is its own, and not an eclectic mix of other clubs too poor to survive in their own right and having to be absorbed.
Seems to me as though there are a number of cocky clubs out there at the moment. Strange things happen in a finals campaign.

Hello all,

First time writer. Mainly a fan of all games. Floated between the Glen Eira vs Turtles game as well as the Therry vs Aquinas game. Have seen the turtles play a few times this year. An improved effort where they tried to slow pace the pace of the game. Keeping Ciavola to 3 goals was a good effort. Boyd did the damage down the other end kicking 5 for GE (in the end, didnt stay till the end though) but it seemed like such an arm wrestle.

Do hate to say it, but I think the turtles will have no shells on their backs come finals time. Tough draw having La Trobe and Therry in their run home; both being major players come finals time.

Saw the last half of the Therry Aquinas game, number 20 (Costello) ended up with 11, probably kicked 7 of those after half time and missed another 3 or 4. Thought I was going to get a glimpse of McKernan, but the big boy was sitting on the pine. Turns out he had an injury. Didn't see George play, one of the leading goal kickers. For aquinas, did not see a winner for the day. The first time these teams played, it was a close result (according to the score). They will be relegated unless they can't get another win on the board or if in a few weeks Old Westbourne don't give St Mary's a touch up, D3 looks iminent.

Agree, the Eltham jumper one of a kind, just not a good look for mine. As for being called "Turtles", can't imagine your young blokes at a nightclub using a declaration that they play footy for the "Turtles" in an effort to "pull". I'd put "club rebranding" as the first agenda item for the AGM in September.

Dr where do your guys go from here? Do you think D3 would be a better option than a fight for survival in D2 in 2012? Not many cattle in the corral.

Although the top four is all but settled there is still some interest in teh finishing positions at both the top and bottom of the ladder.

Emmaus St Leos vs Aquinas
Therry Penola vs St Marys Salesian
Glen Eira vs South Melbourne
St Johns vs La Trobe University
Old Westbourne vs Old Eltham

Agreed. Will be very interesting to see who gets the double chance. Although St John's are in the 4, they are a smokey of getting into second spot. Still not sure about La Trobe; and although Therry's form has been strong, were beaten by La Trobe twice with the second match up against Glen Eira coming up in a few weeks.

Can hardly argue with your assessment -Clint

However the JOCs nailed the Students at LU's ground in Rd 9, so I reckon they are well capable of repeating the dose at their own home ground.

At the bottom end -the Aquinas boys must be rueing Therry's 10 goal to zero last1/4 last week, as % will play a big part in the final equation. They are spotting SMS 6% already with only 4 games to go.

Hard to believe. Did GE treat this as a Bye? Looks like only 1 or 2 missing.

Had a few more missing than that, but all credit to South they came to play and played some great footy. There were some questionable goal umpiring decisions but South were the better team on the day and deserved the 4 points.
