It was officially announced by the President, at the meet the coach day, that he will be playing for Bentleigh in 2009 :thumbsu:, however he was unable to attend due to a prior commitment.

Oh, so Sniper that was the Meet the Coach Another Day, Day

Working beautifully down there in old Bentleigh town.

If you'd been paying any attention you would have noticed that Kellaway is PLAYING and Lex Munro is COACHING.

Just to reiterate. Kellaway = player, Munro = coach.

Got your head around that do you Carl?

It could be... if you don't count Andrew Kellaway coming to Bentleigh

Give me the St Bernards kid over Kellaway any day....
Just a tip, nothing much said about them so far but watch out for the Hawks - extremely good coach who is attracting some pretty good players to the club.
Asked him who have they picked up and he said no-one as yet....plenty of new players have committed but he will not believe it until he sees their name on the team sheet come round 1....
Smart bloke....

Cant believe my eyes...youd rather some random kid who no one has heard of, over an ex AFL player....you kidding me...i forgot he is a youtube star, side by side with the fat kid on a trampoline and dog that eats his on excrement!

People seem to be underestimating how much an ex-AFL player (at any age) will absolutely dominate in a standard of footy that is D3.
Look at Paul Dimattina back in 2005.. did his hammy in the first quarter of the Grand Final so was moved to full forward as he couldn't run.. still managed to bag a lazy 5.
Andrew will be out there running around with us come December 1, don't you worry about that.
Everyone from outside the club might not be aware of the strong Richmond connection we have at Arthur St.
Hopefully if we can start to climb the grades more ex-Tigers will jump on board if they are looking to have a competitive kick of the Sherrin.
Jack Riewoldt is our official #1 ticket holder and occasionaly takes time to run training for us.
Anyway.. counting down the days: 158 to go 'til round 1!!

I know kellaway is pretty tight with Chaffey, Tivendale & Stafford, they all play cricket together this year at Glen Iris where alot of the SMS boys play.

Any Chance????????

There was a rumour going around this thread that 4 ex-AFL players might be heading down - but it was purely that- a rumour.

Although stranger things have happened;)

Do Hawthorn still have Lalletta (forgive my spelling) No.14 I think, still running around for them? One top quality player I remember from years gone by

That bloody well didn't stopping the side getting flogged! By a side the had ZERO EX-AFL PLAYERS, just a very good side. It takes 22 player to win a game these days boys.

Just bloody well get over it!

I know I know. Was just an example of how an ex-AFL standard player goes at this level.
Also fair to say South Melbourne were well ahead of the pack and quickly shot straight through to D1. They were an extraordinary team for D3 level.
Surely you'd have to agree we're extremely lucky to have Andrew coming down and you wouldn't knock him back if he wanted to play for your club.

That's a big call. Clubs wax and wane, sure they had a good side in '06 but nothing different to other teams having a good year. Willi was far better this year than Districts were two years ago.

It's good that they've been able to consolidate and not coast or drop back.

No, we wouldn't knock him back! But saying that we would not promote him as some sort of saviour of the club either!

It's a little hard not to get excited, when you've been starved of success 3 out of the last 4 years. It's also exciting for players like myself to play/train along side one whose played at the highest level in the country.

Any thing mentioned on Sunday of the new training singlets??! :D

Oh dear, you need to lighten up BM.

All tongue in cheek.

Even you should know there is a succession plan in place here or are you just being naive.

Kell playing down in the cellars for nothing, oh please!

Like you, we wish Lex all the best in his best endevours.

News from down Hawthorn way is that the loud mouth pie eating Jackomos has been told he is no longer welcome at the club...... Must be good news for the rest of the comp

This is dreadful news for the Hawks. Their financial situation was obviously not considered before the major changes to the club for 2009.

President Ed Silly must clearly be worried about the impact on Bar and Canteen takings now that the Hacks have sacked Peter Tyson as coach and the moron Jason Jackomos as their fat reserves full forward.

Tysons bar tab is legendary and Jackomos matched his own body weight each week in pies and hot dogs!

Good riddance to both of them and lets hope Tyson actually finds some clothes that fit and that Jacko finds a g&y netball team which will give him a second chance.

Clearly you're not paying attention... There are very strong ties at Bentleigh with the Richmond football club... and they DO play for nothing because of the close connection with our members....

Also, speaking of Paul Dimattina.... (and I know this is just adding to the rumour mill).... but I heard at the coaches day that he may be interested in playing again this season.
It was good to see him at a club function last year... maybe he wants more...

Get Frankie Dimma down too.... miss that guy....

Oh please - not that old chestnut.

I'm sure those members are very successful members no doubt

Kell had closer ties at Caulfiled than Bentleigh - C Grade vs D3?

Tivendale will play with ROC next season in the Casey/Cardinia League. Deal is done, unless he gets a second chance in the AFL which is highly unlikly
