and what team would that be??

Well I was just throwing sh1t & was hoping it would stick. Its fairly safe to say that nearly every team in D3 has been relegated at some point in time (SPX excluded of course). Or if your from Monash or Elsternwick you'll just stay in D3 for eternity, neither being promoted nor relegated. :p

Have it on good authority we at SMS will be making the road trip to Beaconsfeild (SFX) round 1, good to get it out of the way!! Bring it on....
So might you know when fixtures are released? Not that it really matters as we all know it's a fair draw with every team playing every other team once home and once away.
I guess the only thing to look out for is whether you get home games to start or finish the season.

Oh and for those who are asking, yeah I remember we got relegated, but that was D2 in 2008, this is D3 in 2009 :) I also remember the last time we were in D3, we made the Grand Final.
But as I've said before, so much has changed even since this year just gone, let alone 2005.
We have reason to be confident based on the previous D3 effort, but everyone should be confident at this time of year. As you say Griff.. bring it on!!

Was reading in the local paper that Elsternwick will be getting kicked off No. 2 oval out the back and their games transfered to No. 3 or No. 4 oval.

A few things, I didn't realise there were more ovals and secondly now that the VAFA is going to Olympic Park in a couple of years, is Elsternwick likely to ever get their main oval back. The article went on to say that it was hard for them to attract & obtain players due to the run down facilities at No.2. If they were permantly located at No.1 I think they'd be better off.

I wonder if anyone would like to comment

Sniper, I think you are going to have to provide us with a source for this. Couldn't find it in on the Leader Newspapers website.

Obviously there is plenty about to happen in this area, but I'm not sure if the council have committed to anything yet.

EDIT - Just read the plan on the Bayside City Council website, and they want to move Elsternwick to the #3 ground, along with new facilities.

If this actually happens, most Elsternwick people will welcome it, as we all recognise the realities of our ground and pavillion. But stuff like this has been bandied around for ages, and we'll believe it when it happens.

As long as the future of the oldest suburban club in the VAFA is secured, we'll be happy.

Actually in the Moorabbin-Glen Eira Leader page 7, written by Paul Amy. Says that along with your "no. 2 oval, Cheltenahm Park East, Balcombe Park in Beaumaris & Trey Bit Reserve in Sandy have been earmarked (maybe I was getting ahead of myself) for decomission," by the Bayside Coucil.

The article went on to say that your President Tony Blackshaw has been "kept in the dark" about the timing of the proposal.

So long story short nothing in concrete yet & they'll only relocate when suitable venues are available, but the council spokeswomen did describe No. 2 oval as a "secondary competition venue". Obviously not a footy fan

The VAFA should give you back the No. 1 oval.

Herald Sun said:
HAWTHORN coach Alastair Clarkson has scuffled with another motorist after a near miss yesterday.

The other driver, who did not want to be named, admitted he provoked the premiership coach before claiming he was pushed to the ground during an incident at East Bentleigh.

Some angry people out that way.

Number #68 for bentleigh.

mate you should see 68 for uni high. probably the biggest lone winger out there. during the game it seems like he is marking the boundary lines he stays that wide. i just hope that he gets a hard ball get this year for once so that i can stop bagging the snake

So Griff's good authority was no good?? We will have to question him all year now. Who's your really good source??
VAFA following in the footsteps of the AFL with the D4 Grand Final rematch first up.
I'll be happy with the home game to start the season. It's always good to be at home in preparation for the opening ceremony.. aka DJ night #1 ;)

mmmmm..... interesting. I would have thought my source was pretty good, obviously not!!!

Sorry people.

How are the new coaches looking Griff?

Yeah all good mate!! We had our first run last Wednesday, had over 40 there and it was a good night!! The new coaches really work well together and have alot of good football level experiance for young guys (28). all the players seem raring to go and seem to be very impresses so far!! They have also bought along a fitness coach, who im guessing wont be the most popular bloke around!! We also have a dietician on board also.... (we will see how that goes!!!!). So i guess so far so good!

It seems that football, even in the lower grades, is getting more & more professional every year. Gone are the days where you can rock up a week or 2 before Round 1. Looks like the boys at SMS are putting their best foot forward.
