Im not sure why some of you are giving it to Mt Lilydale. They played a good WB side, from wat I hear. Im sure if it was played at Quarry Rd, it prob would have been a different story. They have come from clubbies last year and its hard to get the sort of depth that you other teams have, being around for god knows how long and still in D4. They made the finals last year, remember, even though they were soundly beaten, they still made it!!!!! Give em a break!! We (SFX) will be the same, coming from clubbies is a test, we will prob have an up and down season, but we will do our best to be competitive.

SFX v ML this week, will be a good clash!!!!

I hope NB have not reverted back to there old ways, they were good last year and I hope for the same this year. PP just sh.t stirring I think. No one is un beatable and I will keep bringing it up, ST MARY's!!!!

Ye, we hade a good win on sat, but its 1 game. We have 17 to go, none will be easy!!!

Well said!:thumbsu:

I am not yet going to make any rash call's! not until atleast round three or four.
Round 1..... Who knows what the F%*@ is going on with teams ( new blokes ''Gellin"', pre season's, Injuries, depth, ect...)

Taskmaster thanks for sticking up for us, will be honest though even at Quarry Rd we were never going to win.
Last season (1st year out of clubbies) we played the three tops sides rounds 1/2/3 and went poorly and lost, mid season we played them all again & lost but played much better. Still made the finals...for one week anyway.
May history repeat itself??
We don't get to play at home until round 4.

Tough start with four away games! The league obviously aint too keen on the mountain boys with horrible draws two years running!

He's right... On Saturday Richmonds seniors featured 12(!) players that didn't play last season. We only lost two senior players from last year. When the new guys gel we'll be very hard to stop.

HERE IS THE LID:

  • It's round 1.
  • Yes it was a solid performance, but like any team - we still have heaps to learn about each other and the game itself.
  • Injuries can bury a good team
  • Our ressies lost (Depth issue?)
  • Nth Brunny haven't been able to use their ground for training - it does make a huge difference
  • Poor kicking for goal = poor football / good pressure from the opposition
  • It was played at our ground
  • It's round 1.
Way Way too early to predict big things. It's great to be confident, but NOT COCKY. (Which we are FAR from!!)

All in all it was a solid hit-out against a very young, smaller side.

Still bucket loads of hard work to come and like every other team, we still have 17 rounds to go.

So lets put the lid back on or we will end up like our cousins at Punt rd! And NO ONE wants that!

Right... The lid is officially back on :thumbsu:

No Probs Tunnelball. I know how hard it is to attract quality players, especially to a D4 ammos club. Even though I have only been at SFX for 6 mths, the amount of work that is put in to go from clubbies to D4 is huge.

We look forward to hosting you blokes this sat at Beaccy. Is no 7 still playing for you blokes. plays in the ruck??? If so Myself and our other ruckman will have our work cut out this week. And love the head band!!!

Just make sure that you blokes have your 1st win after playing us!!!:D

Very well said. I think those points hold true for all teams at this level.

I wasn't trying to stir the pot with North Brunswick, just stating that they were known only two or three seasons ago for being a dirty side at times. Just like my Mt Lilydale and Eley Park predictions - I may have been wrong.

Even though the lid is on, it must be a good feeling around the place. Better to be in the top half of the ladder after round 1 than the bottom!

There will be plenty to talk about next Monday after this weekend's games:

SM v Cobras - how good are SM early in the season, how much have the cobras improved?

BHN v North Brunswick - conflicting reports from both camps. Who knows?

R centrals v Eley Park - Centrals on the rise, EP far from disgraced against a finals favourite

West Bruns v Syndal - West Brunswick were hard to beat at home in D3, will they continue to dominate their Brunswick home ground?

SFX v Mt Lilydale - match of the round, Mt Lilydale will bounce back hard but SFX will be bouyed by their ronud 1 win.

Kew v Albert Park - A very close second match of the round. Can AP cover Kew's big men up forward, and can Kew match AP through the middle??

Just thought I’d back Ozza up on his sentiments about North Brunswick. This club has done everything right in the last few years. It has copped its fair criticism and unjust criticism. Unfortunately some people still feel the need to throw mud at this club hoping that some of it will stick. May I remind you that such comments cut deep to the people who have stood up for change and have executed it. To hide behind a forum on the internet and to make such inflammatory statements perhaps reflects a culture at your club that I can safely say has never been at North Brunswick.
Go Norf Brunny and may those young kids keep developing in one of the purest and best amateur footy clubs.

AS a Centrals player we need to be a bit careful dragging up dirt on the North Brunswick of old, just remember we were born out of the demise of Richmond Rosellas and Richmond Amateurs where there was a strict 'no tats no game' policy (real tats too, not pussy ying bloody yang arm bands!). There are plenty of opposition players still wearing the scars from those days!

I've been around a while now[leave it alone you ba@ta$ds]and my opinion is that there are very few players cool and together enough not to let one go in the heat of the moment,a look through player reports pre Moses would find yours trulys name as well, for mine there is no club in D4 any worse or better than any other in this regard and very very rarely have I thought that a reported offence was pre meditated,be thankfull that you play in the Ammos were things are pretty tight, some other places were footy is played would struggle to have the rep that our clubs do.

Well said fellow white maggot.... things have certainly cleaned up, even in the few years that i've been involved. Just a few years back there were touch ups in just about every game.... you rarely see it these days! (Mind you most of those were due to lakey11)

I just played hard! (Maybe a bit Old School as well!)

As for Nth Brunny, I was one who certainly used to pay out at them for their on field behaviour.....but that was years ago and we all know what the turn-over is like at ammo level. As Tobyg said, we at centrals where also quite ferral at times as well. Times change and people change and now its time for us all to build a huge bridge and get the hell over it!

Good luck for the rest of the year boys.

how were the grounds that everyone played at on the weekend.

bulleen's was rock hard (turf wicket and in corridor) in places yet lush on the wings. hope we get a bit of rain soon to soften them all up!!

KB is coming along nicely.

I unfortunately couldn't see it properly from where I was, but can only imagine how funny it would have been from front on. The bloke who wore that one is a real character so I'd suggest it will be a source of amusement at training.

That was a classic. The play had been blown dead, the ball was kicked towards the brunswick player on his own, right in front of the Richmond bench mind you... He jumped and went to punch the ball back, missed, and copped the ball straight in the face. GOLD. He had a few words to spray at our supporters as well for laughing at him.:thumbsu:

Yeah head band is playing, could find himself in the ruck as our number one ruckman is out for a while with a knee
