Fuseball, you are pretty obviously trying to get a reaction from a few on here with your idiotic comments.

North Brunswick has never ever tried to strengthen a reserves side. The fact that our reserves have tended to be a fairly strong side is because our list is fairly even between probably our 10th and 50th player. We haven't been able to get as many top notch senior players as we'd like along the journey - but we also haven't got any spuds either.

Not really trying to get a reaction. Just appeared to a outsider this was the case in past years. I take for granted what you have said and take my comments back !
Not wanting to start a slanging match - I do respect the way you guys go about it over the years. Good luck on the weekend.

BHN vs RC - RC by 8 goals
Chad vs Man - Mann by 10 goals (Chad are struggling)
LTU vs SM - LTU by 10 goals. (STh are overrated, beat nobody)
MtL vs NB - NB by 2 points
AP vs EP - AP by plenty
Kew vs Swin - Kew by 2 goals

Final predction Bob 290305 makes a muppet of himself with his next post :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Good luck to all

Who is this custard? South to come out all guns blazing this week. Players revolt looking inevitable if the Squid doesn't get a game soon!

Also looking forward to Bob290305's weekly summary

As per my article, i would love to get some nominations for plus 35s still having an impact in senior football- name, age, postition, any special funny or inspiring stories, then i will pick a couple of the best for next week's footballer

It is disappointing that Albert Park, Latrobe, Swinburne, and Kew still fail to provide any reports for my articles- Kew did for one week then no more.

You'd have to request an extra couple of columns with all that information mate!

As far as over 35's go... Not sure if we have any in the seniors at present at RC (wouldn't want to embarrass anyone by getting it wrong either!). Plenty in the twos though.

Some interesting characters in the over 35s twos around D4...

NB - Moose
Chad - Pirate (?)
AP - The dude who always plays full forward.
RC - Killer (hasn't shown up this year though) Where have you been Mark?
BHN - Kotsa (Boy I'd like to take him down a peg or two :) )

I am not involved at Kew this year but I can say they do have a couple of very good older players playing this year.

Cullen and Horne are both 35 and over. Both have been sold contributors this year on the score sheet for the Bears.

It'd be unfair to have any discussion about over 35's in D4 reserves & not mention Rocket & Uncle at Manningham. Both over 50 & one (sorry to dob Uncle in!) fast approaching 60.

One who's not short of an opinion & one who it's a bigger struggle to get a word out of! (Not really - but they're chalk & cheese!)

They've both given wonderful service to our club.

Iv noticed a guy at Latrobe Uni Stuart Pattern who has played only the last three games but kicked 5, 8 and 10. 23 in three games a great effort, what type of player is he, big full forward???? crumbing forward???? Any info anyone????

Another AP boy James Sutton?

6-1ish, decent pace, good hands and an accurate kick at goal. Very solid player but I wouldn't say outstanding.

Chaddy's senior captain this year is Ross Bennett, 39 y.o., been at the club since the Tally Ho junior days and still lines up on the ball most weeks. He's still living in the 80's judging by his ponytail.

Round 6 Tips

My Much anticepated tips, hope you enjoy them MR CLEAN, HoxChops and KillerKyle, HAHA

Box Hill North v Richmond Central. Saw BHN first hand and they are struggling massively for form and will get smashed here. Richmond by 88pts.

Chadstone v Manningham. One of these teams to have there first win here, gonna go with Manningham, just. Manningham by 4 pts.

Latrobe University v South Mornington. My Match of the Round. A massive game for a young South Mornington to see whether they can compete with the top teams or whether they are still much further away. La Trobe flyer undeafeated we will see if they can keep the ball rolling. Tipping a little upset here. South Mornington by 1pt, Hopefully

Mount Lilydale
v North Brunswick. Mt Lilydale at home will get over the line here to get back on the winners list. Mt Lilydale by 28pts.

Albert Park
v Eley Park. Albert Park way too good. Albert Park by 117pts.

Kew
v Swinburne University. This will be a good game and tell us alot about these two teams. Not sure if Kew are the dominating team of last season, Not sure whether Swinbourne are gonna compete with the top sides, Not sure on this one but ill stick with Kew at home. Kew by 13pts.

There you go boys, enjoy, $2.

It is a shame to see such a uneven D4 this year.
5 of the 12 teams can basically rule out finals hopes and we are only 6 rounds in !!
part of the problem was the fixturing. If it was seeded then the top seeds should have played each other first up, not the other way around. If it wasnt seeded , it should have been

Are there any more nominees for over 35s still playing good senior footy? Looking for age, position, goss?

Correct. Do you know if they seed any of the other divisions? A grade for example?

I think there is obviously 3 groups this season Albert, LaTrobe, Kew, Richmond. Then South, Lilydale, Swinbourne. And the bottom group Manningham, BHN, Chaddy, Eley, NB.
On saturday we were just outclassed, La Trobe are a very slick unit, they play there MASSIVE ground very well, they dont really have standout players there all contributers. Albert V LaTrobe Grand Final im predicting...

All the other grades are 10 teams so eveyone plays everyone else twice, I guess it doesn't matter if they're seeded, you have to play everyone at some stage.

D4 is a bit different, there will be a few teams you only play once, I guess the hope is they would organise it so there arn't too many 'mismatches', ie the teams who were towards the bottom last year would only play the relegated D3 teams once, don't know if they've done that. But I guess no-one wants to be thought of as a weaker team, everyone gets new recruits every year and goes in confident of having a good season. The draw seems a bit weird in that some teams who only play once do it in the first few rounds, then play teams twice within 5 weeks later in the year.

As for 35+ players, I would have said that Uncle guy from Manningham, what a trooper, he must be due for long service leave by now!

RC has won 5 on the trot... but its gets slightly more challenging from here with LaTrobe, Kew (away) and South Morn (away) in the next 3 matches. Hmmm.

You cant blame fixturing, how is the VAFA meant to find out how teams are tracking in the off-season. also a lot of teams who are not going so well at the moment have cited injuries as the cause so how does the VAFA account for this? The mistake lies in the fact that they let 12 teams run around in D4 when the have 10 in all other divisions, they should just stick to the 10 team formula. It make fixturing and finals schedualing that much easier.

It is difficult.

Imagine - if say North brunswick picked up 35 new players this year (which apparenlty they have) & 15 of those guys were senior players, with 3 of them competition standouts. They take over West Brunswick's mantle & go through undefeated.

Nobody would be pro-seeding then would they?

We'd all like to improve over the pre-season & take our clubs forward. Seeded draws don't really help create a better competition long term. Just my opinion..

true.. but I like the idea of the 2 relegated sides not playing the bottom four sides twice... That is easy to implement, and chances are the bottom 4 sides aren't going to win the flag...
