settle down fellas!
We are coming from a fair way back - so i think that is a stupid comment.
All we want is to imporve from last year - if we can do that then that is all we can ask for.

Once again... RC played out a couple of close games v Laverton. Good hit outs for seniors and reserves and no hamstrings injured this time which is a plus!

Interesting about BHN and Manningham. Rumours flying around left and right!

I think its dangerous to play practice matches against division rivals...unless you're sure you can win.

I think that it is worrying for the competition that there is going to be a big gap between the better sides & the bottom sides.

More worrying is that it is obvious that BHN just don't have the numbers. There were at least 6-7 players that played both games. And that is just not sustainable. Manningham have been there plenty of times before & it's just tough; on committee, but especially on the players.

Ruck Machine - did you have many who were unavailable?

Did I see correctly that McCallum and Bellisimo are coming over to The Cobras from the EFL? Some higher graded clubs would be happy to slot those two into their lineups..very nice work there.

Move on!

North Brunswick played 1's & 2's praccy matches against Moonee Valley from the EDFL. Lost both games by a couple of goals. Some areas to work on, but all in all some really good signs also.

Chadstone were defeated in the firsts by around 8 points, a pretty close match by all accounts.

The Chadstone reserves had a pretty comfortable win (10 goals or so).

didn't manny lose to Point Cook last week?? so how good are PC and in your oppinion they can't win the flag? your'e obviously very confident:rolleyes:

Fruity - the season is more marathon than sprint. Don't get sucked in by the hype of one game.

There are a number of clubs that are presenting as around the mark, PC are certainly one of those. ML are another, although Gryphons are quiet everyone expects them to be around the mark, RC have been OK the last couple of years & would be hoping for the upward trajectory to continue. NB seem to have recruited very well & SM are always hard to beat at home & will be in contention for a fair part of the year. The Cobras are hoping to be around the mark.

At this stage we're not really hearing or seeing enough to think that EP, the Chad, BHN or Swinburne (although to be fair there hasn't been a lot out of them) to suggest that they'll be strongly contesting for finals.

Anyway, by my guestimations there'll be at least 7 teams playing it out for 5 finals places. As I said, it's a marathon & in D4 there is still a chance that the guys to take your team to the next level haven't even appeared as yet!

Manningham will win the flag.

:eek::eek: Thanks for the good laugh 'banger.......I will still be suprised if they make the finals. I've enjoyed playing against Manny the last few seasons and hope they can push for some september action but as mentioned a page or so ago just to improve on the previous season (finished 7th I think) would be sufficient one would think.

If you have a look at the blokes they have recruited I'm sure the cobras would be very disappointed if they didn't make the finals.

With Beliss, Big Sam and a number of others from Nunawading going to the club they will be very strong!!

dont think Badanjack was ever paid he started at the cobras as an 18 yo and i think he played out his whole career there.Cookson is the one we always had our doughts about. 2 years ago a few cobra boys did some pre season with Nth. one of them was a mate of cooksons he openly said that cookson was gettting paid?
checked out the nunawading boys Mccallam was there skipper last year, Bellissmo is a premiship coach would hav to be worth more than cookson?
from what im told both can play.

does it really matter if anyones getting paid? tell me its not going on in the higher grades. anyway wouldnt the problem be with team mates rather than other clubs.

Manningham are definitely looking better than last year. Have picked up some handy players and will finish higher this year.

It is hard to use the weekend's game as a gauge though, as BHN did have roughly 15-20 players unavailable for various reasons. Apart from Cookson not playing it looked like Manningham were at full strength. Manningham will definitely push for finals this year.

Really sorry to hear about Tags but well done to BHN for getting behind Manningham and donating all of the weekend's BBQ takings to Manningham to pass onto Tags' family. I guess we all need to remember that sometimes there are more important things to football than the game itself. We wish Tags a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the reminder Chewy.
All at the cobras are greatful for the kind words and deeds of Div 4 (and other) clubs. The effort of the BHN boys was outstanding.

Tags is still in intensive care, but is on the improve slowly. Still not out of the woods, but is looking better than it did a few weeks ago
