Quick poll then..which teams do we consider to be fair 'ball' playing teams.

"Ball playing" meaning no cheap shots (which includes running through a bloke with his head over the ball & punches/headbuts behind play). I think we all agree a bit of niggle is good fun but which teams step over the mark?

Honestly thought SM were ok last year..maybe picked up a few snipers over the summer. Lilydale are excellent for niggle (specially that little tagger), brunswick same.[/QUOTE

Eley Park , Chadstone , Swinburne, Nth Brunswick and Point Cook pretty good to play against and have a beer with afterwards

Mt lilydale , Box Hill Nth and Manninham have always been pretty mouthy but never really go the fist (except once were warriors number 10 from Mannigham)

Richmond a couple of years ago used to love the late tackles and snipe behind the play but seem to have gotten better with a change of coach, which i think is why their on their way up . Sth Mornington are more interested in playing WWF than footy, so will probably continue to be bottom feeders for years to come

Cant comment on Monash

When it comes to sniping and cheap shots , I tend to think a teams style often reflects the coaches attitude towards it .

The only thing Mt Lilydale are excellent at is smashing teams with their run and skills, I think it's them that are copping the cheap shots not dishing them out, as other teams realize they can't match them so have to resort to snipes to try and beat them.

serious question..are u an idiot? considering I said niggle is good and that you blokes are good at it (mouthy, push and shove), where did anyone say lilydale are snipers?

clearly simple folk though!

That's right FuiFui you never said Mt Lilydale were snipers but considering the last 2 pages have been about off the ball incidents I thought I would put my twobobs worth in.

Another indication of how well schooled you ghetto thugs are. I think Frankston has betting getting a rough go judging by the dribble you boys are putting on show.

If your side could only beat a bunch of netballers by 3 points, I would think that your coach would be extremely disappointed. Not to mention the hordes of fans (totaling roughly 12) you had there who were expecting a football match.

i think you should pull your head in there ol' son - getting on here and going off like sore loser doesn't really paint you in a great light. if your team is good enough then you might be lucky and meet them in the finals. if you had a bench full of players who could not come back on - then one would think you'd be a good chance the next you play them, afterall they only won by three points. getting into a slinging match with slack jawed yokel achieves nothing - you come out looking like a goose. all this stuff should kept in-house, used for the next meeting.

ooh them's fighting words. did you have to finish grade six to come up with that one? it's YOU'RE not your. don't you guys go to school down there? sounds like you lot are really educated. i guess that's the price you pay for living in the slums hey cletus?

Hey champ, instead of correcting spelling mistakes on a D4 web forum why don't you go do something with your sunday afternoon? Clearly you're a little upset about the lack of heart and spirit your mob showed, I would be too - only pretty poor gutless teams would throw away 7 goal leads with 10 mins left on the clock. There was 1 yellow card for the day and it was when your bloke ran 10m to hit a south player half his size (and probably half his age) when he wasn't looking. The umpire was the biggest whistle warrior i've seen in a long time, so I can assure anyone who wasn't at the game that has read the dribble this blokes been writing, that if there were cheap hits the bloke who made them would have been sent off straight away. There were a lot of fair collisions (was a good tough game), but thats footy - no need to come online and act like a sore loser. Also buddy, living in Mt. Eliza, Mornington and Mt. Martha is hardly the slums, sort yourself out

3 things were obvious from the sidelines......SM were way too rough (3 EP players with head injuries in the first quarter), secondly there were children around and a poor example of family football was set, and thirdly in the last quarter when SM had to play football (and not the man) to actually win the game they played really well and dominated. for three quarters SM played the man, and allowed 16 fit EP players on the ground to be in control of the scoreboard- hopefully your coach can see this and change his style of play....

Note to Nth Brunswick - Next week's game against teary park.. i mean Eley Park will be played on the Box Hill west netball courts.

Maybe you need a closer look at Nth Brunswick in particular the ressies, plenty of head butting and behind the ball punches thrown in their games.

Easy way to prevent fighting and sniping in back play... set up a camera on a tripod somewhere... It doesn't even have to be turned on!

The only cheap shots came from BHN in the last quarter when they were 20+ goals down, i know as i was there and have no connection with either team.
In the main game there was a sickening head clash in which the NB player was taken away in an ambulance, is this the headbutt you are referring to ?

Box hill nth tape all their home games . Surely the coach doesn't make them all watch it during the week . Imagine having the horror of seeing how bad you are replayed back to you

Didn't see the last quarter of the twos but one of the BHN boys has three facial fractures (from I believe an accidental collision), didn't hear any reports of any other incidents.

Best wishes to the guy from the NB seniors, he must have deteriorated quickly because when they were bringing the stretcher to the NB bench the guy I was playing on had no idea who it was for (this was as the 4th quarter was about to start).

As a side note, I love when people say they aren't involved with either club but just happened to be passing by. Why would you watch D4 if you weren't from one of the clubs involved?

Did you notice the Mt Lilydale result Big Waz , or more importantly did you notice who umpired the game . Your normally red hot on who officiates the Rams games ?? Good win by the boys . Thought the margin might have been a bit bigger if we had of had our "OWN" boys in white on the day

Spot on my old mate ABBa , why pretend you just happened to be walking past or drop by to watch a game of D4 , and then to top it off just thought you would jump on a D4 forum and comment on the game . GIVE ME A BREAK

Back to the most important of matters. Football. As the weeks have gone by and many challengers have come and some gone, it would seem that the match of the season to date will be Mt Lilydale v Monash on June 19th. Results to date would indicate both have a range of scoring options and pretty solid defences. The battle in the midfield will decide it. Might just be worth the drive to the big city to watch it.
After losing their first game the Monash 2s have been on a roll and getting stronger. Will certainly take some beating.

You boys are barking up the wrong tree i have moved a couple of streets away from the NB ground and have watched a couple of their home games.
I was associated with Old Essendon back in the 90's and used to fear having to play them but they have definately cleaned out alot of the riff raff. Just love watching any level of local footy.

Should be a Grand Final preview by judging how the other teams are traveling . Where is the game being played ??

They play each other twice within a month and a half:
19/06 Round 10 at Lilydale.
31/07 Round 16 at East Caulfield.

This really does bring up some issues with the draw and having 11 team with only 18 rounds(16 games). If you are one of the teams that are vying for the final spots and you play Monash or Lilydale twice and Chadstone, Point Cook or BHN once you would be pretty annoyed.

The Gryphs only play BHN and Point Cook once each.

Any chance the mercy rule could be invoked this weekend in the Monash v Chadstone game?
Monash has to win by around 160 points this weekend to take top spot on percentage. If the weather is fine I'd say thats a big chance.

This issue is dead, as the umpire in question hasn't umpired a senior game for the MTL boys since round 4.
