MTL have also picked up a handful of quality players and should win comfortably by 5g. (I hear after MTL going to appeals to clear them)

Get the banshee to the appeals tribunal.

wwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

You sound like a broken record Harvey. Got a crush mate??

Who might they be Sneako??? This time next week I will start copping a few butterflies just a couple of hours away from my first kick of the season(if i can get near it)or i may even of had one by now if I'm playing 'magoos!
ROUND 1 TIPS:
Nth Brun V Monash= Nth Brunswick will welcome the Gryphons to D4 footy with some hard at it footy and come away with a narrow 10 point win.
Sth Morn V Mannin= Alot of hype around Manningham pre season but I believe hype to be the key word. Sth Mornington 6 goals.
Chadstone V Mt Lily= Chadstone may hang in there for a half just with first round spirit but this result should see Mt Lilydale well above the rest on the ladder with 200+%. Mt Lilydale 15 goals.
Point Cook V Richmond= I nominate this as 'Match Of The Round' and expect a lead change of atleast 15 times during the game. Richmond Centrals 1 goal.
Eley Park V Swin Uni= Eley Park will dust aside thier poor pre season results and hold of an unpredictable Swinbourne. Eley Park 4 goals.
Box Hill Nth V Bye= Should be a close one but I expect Bye to hold out my wooden spoon favourites.

Reserves:Monash-Manningham-Mt Lilydale-Point Cook-Swinbourne Uni.

Well I'm always 'quietly confident in my own clubs chances this time of year and I cant wait to head down to Chadstone and get my hands on the big red pill.;) I'm not to sure if Bokhill should be given any sort of favouritism for the wooden spoon, they have picked up some ready to go quality senior players from stronger leagues/divisions, infact so have the other regular sellar dwellers Chadstone, so I do think the 2010 season will be alot closer than most believe it will.

ROUND 1 TIPS-----Obviously I think round one footy in any grade or league is the hardest to guage and will be happy to tip 2 winners this week!
Nth.B vs Monash----I will stick with the home side and go Nth.B by 4 goals.
Sth.M vs Manny----I to am not to worried about manninghams 'gun' recruits and definately dont agree with rumours flying around about 'incentives'.Sth.M are a 5-10 goal better side at home and if they have hung onto a number of the young quicks they should go allright, so Sth.M by 7 goals.
Chad vs Mt.Lily----Should be a good contest!
P.Cook vs Rich.C----I think P.Cook will send a message round one and topple Rich.C to the tune of 10 goals.
E.Park vs S.Uni----S.Uni will look to push forward without the match winning heroics of Yaman and run away with a 5 goal win.
2's......Nth.B, Manny, Mt.L, P.Cook, S.Uni.

Pfft... There is nothing to say sorry about. The reality of low grade VAFA football is that accusations about money will fly when clubs make improvements on field.

Rusty, Plugger & I have been around the footy club for a long time & know that the emphasis on improving player stocks has always been driven through a strong & progressive committee. Get your off field right & the on field will follow. The last 3 years in particular have really focussed on this.

And to be fair, we've stolen a lot of good ideas from other D4 clubs. We've looked through other clubs code of conducts, strategic plans, sponsorship programs & observed other administrative modelling that other clubs have done for us. We've played around with our decision making structures & how they work. (We're all volunteers with family & work committments, so how do we lighten the load on the decision makers.)

So thanks to the other clubs who have helped us along the way.

We're trying to create our own template for continued success. If the almighty $$$ was the tool then your decision making is fundamentally flawed & while success may come, you're club will be broken & entrenched back in D4 (if alive) before you know it.

Now as Plugger has already said, let the on field battles begin. The pen might be mightier than the sword, but it doesn't win you a game of footy.
Youre kidding arent you mate. How can you call yourselves progressive.youve been a bottom side in d4 for years.Youve got a fantastic ground, the backing of The Manningham Club and now youve recruited some players that if you new anything about them you wouldnt have touched with a ten foot pole.To be progressive you have to progress and recruit players who are going to take you through the grades not trouble makers who are well and truly past there best. How long are you going to persist before you realise that maybe youve got no idea

Gee, some 'newbies' getting right amongst it.....and with some very valid points from a few to add......great stuff 'newbies' and keep rocking some boats aswell pinching a few nerves of some 'members' etc.....get this forum burning!!!

CLEARANCES: Boxhill nth - 10
Chadstone - 14
Eley Park - 5
Manningham - 19
Monash - 10
Mt.Lilydale - 10
Nth Brunswick - 21
Point Cook - 46
Richmond - 38
Sth Mornington - 14
Swinbourne - 17

Some interesting figures through the vafa site. After seeing Eley Park come down to Mt.Lilydale and cop a fair flogging and only picking up a 'bare minimum of players, well they may just firm up a little for the spoon! Point Cook expected, Richmond ??????? can you give us an insight Waz. Other clubs 10-20 clearances just above and below average numbers and I would say atleast 90% would be cleared over all requests. 5 more sleeps till a few question are answered, maybe.

2010 Preview

Welcome back to ‘real football’. I know I can’t wait for Saturday…

With the new structure to Div 3 & 4 and a couple of new teams it promises to be an intriguing season at the least. Coupled with rookie coaches and an enthusiasm of spirit absent somewhat in the higher sections, Div 4 has much to look forward to in 2010.

I have not been involved in any capacity in this section since the late 90s, so forgive my ignorance in the early part of the season, however I am au fait with some of the summer transfers and have endeavoured to keep my ear close to the ground. Like any other pundits, I have little idea as to the likely ladder order come round 18, but I will have a stab nonetheless:

Monash Gryphons
Point Cook
Richmond Central
Mt Lilydale
Swinburne Uni

Sth Mornington
Nth Brunswick
Manningham
Eley Park
Box Hill Nth
Chadstone

Not many surprises with the above rankings and I agree (with many others forum correspondents) that Point Cook FC will be a success in this division almost immediately. Monash will benefit greatly from the drop in class and Richmond were competitive with all in 09’. The top three may well be a class above the rest? I expect improvement from Swinburne (who have recruited much better than many realise) and Mt Lilydale will still be a very tough cohort to shake at home. Outside the five, Nth Brunswick showed last season they have excellent depth and this should translate to more senior wins. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make a late run for finals. Sth Mornington, I suspect will win many games at home, but continue to struggle at foreign venues. Manningham will be competitive, but mediocre and I expect the bottom three to be well below the rest.

Round 1 Preview

Monash over Nth Bruns by 26Pts (Monash have been all the rage in the mass media over summer with the signing of former AFL star, Richard Osborne. However, the Gryphs would not want to be off guard one iota as there are plenty of reports coming from Allard Park of big improvements in 2010. A real good hit out awaits the Gryphs)
Sth Morn over The Cobras by 55 Pts (Citation Oval is fast becoming a fortress and Alan Sutherland’s men will be far too slick for Manningham)
Mt Lilydale over Chadstone by 46 Pts (I think all VAFA fans would hope Chadstone showed some improvement this season, so at home they may be in this game for a while, but ultimately class will prevail)
Pt Cook over Richmond by 8 Pts (Match of the day for sure, if nothing else at least for the intrigue. Just how good will Pt Cook be? Don’t expect this to be an easy initiation for them as the Centrals have recruited well and have the necessary depth this season – Clubbies – to challenge for the title. Could go either way).
Swinburne over Eley Park by 41 Pts (Reports from Whitehorse Reserve have been mixed at best and whilst the Razorbacks were largely disappointing in 09’ expect them to win this rather comfortably)

Good luck to all

To be progressive you have to progress and recruit players who are going to take you through the grades not trouble makers who are well and truly past there best. How long are you going to persist before you realise that maybe youve got no idea

I don't know the blokes apart from on the training track - and the one practice match that I've been at. I've got better things to do than dredge up any history on them. If they turn out to be detrimental to the club then I guess I'll think back to your post & acknowledge their issues then.

Are you involved on a committee Bromberg? If you are then you'd understand & acknowledge the hard work that volunteers put into trying to improve their clubs. 'Progressive' is about improvement.

I don't really care if you think I've got no idea. I just try to help my club.

How do the bye's work by club, I've noticed that on round 12 both PC & MTL have a bye and two each for the season and there is no mention of Chadstone in the fixture who only have one bye for the season??
Likewise round 16 where SM & EP are listed as a bye and 2 each for the season while BHN are not in this fixture and also have one bye for the season??

Am I missing something here:confused:

Chadstone has a bye in round 12 according to the draft draw sent out a few months ago, and box hill have a bye in round 16. i think there is a problem with the fixture on the vafa website.

Round 1 Tips
North Brunswick vs Monash - Monash by 1 goal
South Mornington vs Manningham - Manningham by 6 goals.
Chadstone vs Mt Lilydale - Mt Lilydale by 8 goals
Point Cook vs Richmond Central - Richmond Central by 1 goal
Eley Park vs Swinburne Uni - Swinburne Uni by 4 goals

Big out for Swinburne this weekend with their Captain expected to miss due to the impending birth of his daughter?

Could help Eley Park a bit.

For starters Eley Park will need alot more than that to have a sniff, secondly what kind of captain is this bloke??? Wife-Child-Family over round 1 footy.....well I never! ;)

He's a lucky man if he's still in consideration for the next 6 weeks!

The misses must love footy :)

sneako...i wouldnt bank on EP's performance for a preseason game to be any indication...the unavailable are now available, and the injured will return.

Not just going on thier pre-season form(which was woeful)but also the fact that they won only a handful of games last season and have only had five clearances for new blood into the club with a few fellas moving on. Now I'm no mathematic genius but I did the sums and it just does not seem they will improve with other clubs around them. But good luck to 'em hope I'm proven wrong.
