Great win by the northern blues running over the top of west Brunswick. Young legs proved the better. Mcredmond standing out up forward yet again.

That is a good win from the Blues - Keeps them in the hunt for the 6.

Also should be a good week of games this week with the top 4 all playing each other.

Has everybody deserted this thread ? Where is everyone ?
A couple of massive games this week:

Manningham vs Mt Lilydale
Chadstone vs West Brunswick
Dragons vs Eley Park
Point Cook vs Hawthorn
Northern Blues vs Box Hill North

High scores at Northern Blues v Box Hill North today!

Would like to have been out there but I spent today at Le Musee du Louvre instead :)

Anyone up for discussing Ressies? Point Cook are pretty handy. Quick and fit. Who else will be up there?

The game this week between Point Cook and Eley Park will be interesting. What has their history of matches been over the last year or so? Has there been many changes to each side from 2012?

Point Cook 2s did look good last week fosters, west Brunswick should be right up there too from what I've heard.

A very poor return last week, although there were a couple of upsets thrown in.
And this week also looks a bit tough with a couple of games that could go either way.

North Brunswick vs Chadstone
Box Hill North vs Chadstone
Dragons vs West Brunswick
Mt Lilydale vs Northern Blues
Eley Park vs Point Cook

I'm interested to know what everyone's opinions are on who the best players in the comp are? IMO calcedo( northern)yap (dragons)and trewman (hawthorn)are the best I've seen so far. Factoring in forwards and defenders I'd say no.4 from Hawthorne (can't spell his name) would be the best forward followed by penny from BHN. Defenders I'm yet to notice a stand out but pang from dragons played pretty well against us. Does anyone agree/disagree?

Is Penny still getting around? He must be nearly at 200 games?

Just heard on the vines that the VAFA are letting teams play with 19 on the field, without any ramification at all.

Is every club going to play with 19 until found out? I know I sure would be......nothing at all to lose!

Gee those Drangons have really proved me wrong, give then the flag now and get them straight to D1!! Lots of hype but seem just middle of the road! Shows how bad the SFL is!!

The dragons have gone backwards its obvious. The dragons team now would struggle in the sfl. I think the vafa will always sufferand struggle to all the other comps cause they cant get big name players or field a competent team. Its a fact the comps with the most money is obviously better eg efl and mpnfl. So vafa has to be the worst leauge by far cause of the non player payment. Its a FACT

Sorry to bite, but this was a joke right?

So Russell Robertson is just playing for the love of the game? Or all the big name players in a grade don't get paid?? People have kids on scholarships, renovations done for them, and certainly money changes hands under the table.

No disrespect to the VAFA Im sure the higher grades have to wheel n deal under the table to lure players. Im just stating that the teams that are more financial will always be a stronger team. Correct me if im wrong but if a team buys half a dozen x afl players/vfl players km sure they are more likely to win a flag then a team that has no money with nobodys on the team.
Just saying the leauges or clubs that pay will obviously be better. This is a fact

And for your Information clubs can get lucky if x afl players come back to thier grass roots footy club but im sure they will be lured into going to stronger leauges with alot of money. Why do you think the EFL is so strong look at your noble parks. Balwyn im just using that as an example

ture have a look at the EDFL each a grade side has at least one or two ex afl players and some of the budgets in the EDFL are on the north side of $350,000 K

Re the number of AFL / VFL players running around in EDFL it's the same in A grade ammos (plus add the few that are in B grade and then the very few in C grade), the numbers would be any different between the leauges but once again dollars dont make a club!

This is not a fact! Money has a part to play yes but is far from the most important ingredient, feel sorry for your club if this is how you think you build a good football side / club. I would back any A grade ammo's side to hold there own in any other league in Victoria especially the SFL!

I find these comments laughable...

Though I'm not overly familiar with the names running around in Div 4 or the SFL.. I know in Div 2 VAFA we have a few Ex AFL/VFL players running around namley:

Bannister Brothers (Therry Penola)
David Boundy (Old Parade)
Russle Robertson (Monash)
There are more...

As well as a host of players who have played for money in other leagues but CHOOSE to play in the VAFA now.

I think you'll find that money is not the only motivator in football. Some quality players simply love their club, choose to play with mates and want to give back to the game.

As far as the Dragons go I had picked them for the flag early in the year, and whether they get there or not this year, I don't think they are the type of club to make excuses saying they had dropped off from last year. They are respectful of the competition for that.
