EFA

Unbelievable bad luck for both him and Carlton. He should be bulked up by this time next year. If he hasn't put on 5kg minimum it means he doesn't care.
How does that have anything to do with his shoulder, he could be the Michelin Man and still get an injury...

The way his arm was outstretched when landing was #1 shoulder dislocating position. Way worse than Gaz's position during impact, for example.

Feel bad for the bloke, having a child next week aswell and he wont be able to cradle his own son/daughter for a few weeks you would think.
Should be able to hold the little tucker ok, might not be able to change any nappies though

Even at his best was he worth $800k a season?

Dangerfield, Ablett, Selwood, Pendlebury are midfielders worth that money. Never thought Thomas was as valuable as any of those.

Then when his injury record is considered it's madness that Carlton sanctioned that contract.

yep, and had he tucked them in instead of waving them around looking for a free kick he would've been fine
Looking for a free kick he 100% deserved? Please. Hardly his fault things ended up how they did. I guess it's also Ablett's fault he ****** his shoulder since he didn't dispose of the footy quick enough before Macaffer got a hold of him.

I doubt they'd know for sure if he's having surgery yet. He'll need scans first. Sounds like Stevens is just guessing/assuming.

If he does though, it'll be longer than 16 weeks. Gaz did his around Round 16 last year and is still rehabing.

In what world is Dangerfield a top 5 player in the comp????

With another year now basicially written off for Thomas, it looks like injuries will totally ruin what should have been his prime as a footballer.

Well if it was the end of 2011 (his best year), considering that he'd have just been coming into his prime then, and that he works just as hard as anyone out on the ground, and has more of a defensive side and skillset than any of the midfielders you mentioned (ergo a bit more versatility), with fitness and even more of a lead midfield role, he could have been worth that sort of money, for a club trying to lure him. Probably had one of the better combinations of skill and flair combined with workrate and defensive ability going around at that stage. Really was looking like one of the more complete footballers in the league, hence the praise Ross Lyon heaped on him.

As it was though, two injury-riddled years later (he was hampered for most of 2012, even though he played decently), at the end of 2013, he'd lost a lot of his shine, and wasn't worth that sort of coin. Rumoured behaviour/attitude issues took even more of the gloss off, which is why the Pies didn't match Carlton's big offer at that time. Further on now, that pricetag is looking even worse. He might still have a couple of good years left in him, but he's never going to live up to the paycheck, and is always going to be a bit of a "what if?" player from here. It's a real shame, too, as I really loved the footballer he was becoming in 2010-2011, and he was one of my favourite players in the league, regardless of allegiances.
