This boys elite, good game again so far today..

did he put pen to paper?

worth a mil . absolute gun/jet

Say what you will about Thomas. No midfielder can be considered 'elite' until they've had a good solid season at the top level with a close tag... something Thomas has never had. This may change, who knows. Mind you, I class elite as Judd, Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Goddard, Selwood. Thomas isn't in this bracket. Apart from the tag question, his consistency is not up to the level of those mentioned above either. The players above put in the performance Thomas put in today every other week... and have done for a prolonged period.

When do you stop giving players due for last years performances?
Looking at Goddard.

He starts on the wing more often than not. What coach is going to put a hard tag on a wingman?

And seriously, getting a hard tag has nothing to do with being elite. If the opposition chooses not to tag you, that's their choice. If Ablett hadn't been tagged for the last few years he wouldn't be any less elite than he is.

That's not me saying Thomas is necessarily elite, I don't really get caught up in silly tags to slap on players. Elite, very good, great... meh, everybody has a different opinion on what makes you qualify for each level anyway. All I know is he is ****ing killing it for us this year.

Is without doubt, elite. His 2 GF performances last year were superior to anyone who played on both days on a consistency basis. He has taken that & gone to another level. Until Murphy does it in September, he is a rung below Thomas (even Kernahan has said this).

He is only playing well because no one is on him.

It looks like he has no opponent because he runs so hard off the ball. It's one of the great things about watching this sport at the actual venue. Thomas runs so hard both as a defensive minded player, but also to stretch out zones and what not that he is so so vital towards how we play.

If he doesn't have eight votes from the past three weeks, I'll be astounded. He must clearly have BOG's, and I expect him to get two versus Geelong behind Selwood.

The reality is there for anyone with eyes to see.
Some choose to keep theirs closed hey BB.

That it is. By the end of the round, there's a very good chance that Judd and Murphy will be 1 and 2 in the Coaches' POTY.

Judd currently equal 2nd, Murphy equal 4th and were again clearly the two BOG. The rest of the top 6 (Watson, Franklin, Moloney and Boyd) aren't likely to feature much, seeing the boys jump to the top of the tree. :thumbsu:

Murphy also currently sitting second in the Lou Richards Medal. Such an accomplished player he's become - like Thomas, probably the hardest working player at the club.

Thomas has developed into a star but Collingwood's supporters insistence on denigrating opposition players to talk up their own is quite pathetic, really. Particularly when that player is currently an AA lock.

But but but I thought Coaches award meant nothing and coaches have no idea:rolleyes:

That's what everyone said last year when Swan won it

Such as who? Would have thought the coaches would have close to the best idea of who played well, given they'd better appreciate role players who mightn't stand out to the general public.

You'd be wrong. Swan was clearly the deserving winner last year - scarcely played a bad game.

Seems it's you changing your tune to detract from Murph's brilliant season.

Must admit, love watching this bloke play now.

Easily in the top 10 players in the comp with his current form, and he's a perma top 20 imo.

dude, keep living for opionion based individual awards, we only care about the premiership
Sorry, wasn't aware this thread was about the team's premiership chances. :thumbsu:

Also, can't help but remember Collingwood supports whinging about Swan winning every award bar one...must have been mistaken given your lot only care about the premiership.
