What about clearance stats? They don't prove you go in hard and get your own ball? Murphy's clearance numbers are top 10 in the AFL. Other names there are Watson, Cotchin, Judd, Boyd, Thompson, etc.

Clearance stats highlight which players are in the middle more often.

Swan is Collingwood's best clearance player.....Thomas and Ball would both be harder at the ball than him though.

Thomas is one of those rare players who has no regard for his own body, he just throws himself at the footy.

Using clearances and contested possession as some kind of 'hardness' measure is incorrect.

Gee sounds like someone who plays in my side

Wallsy and Quartermain have now declared Thomas as the best player in the competition in response to Ross Lyon saying he was close to, if not the best. Clearly Lyon talking him up as they're playing Coll this week, but come on guys, get serious. Don't get me wrong, absolutely fantastic player who's he's having a brilliant season, and would kill for him him at Essendon but he's not even the best player in his own team.

Thomas has been our best for the last few weeks.

Toss up between Swan, Pendles and Thomas as who is our best player now...as Thomas and Pendles keep getting better.

he's definitely the most well rounded player in the comp.

Judd can't mark, Thomas can
Judd can't play forward, Thomas can
Judd can't kick goals, Thomas can
Gibbs can't win the ball, Thomas can
Murphy can't mark, Thomas can
Murphy can't win one on ones, Thomas can

That was 30 seconds before Walls rated their draft year as best in order as Kennedy, Pendlebury, Murphy, Thomas. Clear as mud

Swan's been a bit off the boil the last 4-5 weeks.

I find it so strange people are only just catching up with things like this, so Daisy is A grade, old news now surely?

don't know why I've selected one of the most silly posts to agree that Thomas has come a long way.....maybe because this guy compared him to Jud...

4 out of the top 5 of the 2005 draft are gems

Murphy, Thomas, Kennedy and Pendles... 4 players who have staked their claim as the best of the best this year. All having AA worthy seasons at this stage

Pretty rare you get a hit rate like that in the top 5 from drafts.

He's only started to get consistency into his game in the 9 games this year of which only 4 are 'very good-outstanding'.. and now there's flogs on here comparing him to Judd? Gotta love BigFooty for a laugh..

Have to say that the Collingwood tank of 2005 really paid off though getting Thomas and Pendlebury..

Pies were rubbish in 2004 and continued to slide in 2005 with a big injury list. 2006 was good for Collingwood as well with 3/4 of the premiership KP players coming from their first 3 picks.

..changed the rules of PP after that year too..

Apparently this all happened in the last 4 weeks?
Thomas was a key player in 2010 no news there at all.
Swan being a bit down on last year has allowed Daisy to come to the fore.

Tank? I believe Carlton won the wooden spoon that year

Collingwood did tank.. 5 games or less earned a PP and after their 5th win in round 14 they didnt win another game for the year... Thats tanking and thats why the AFL changed the rule at the end of the year..

2 top 5 picks for a team that made 2 GFs 2 years before was pretty stupid.
