Lol thanks again and go the Crows?

Gorringe got rejected by the Crows, despite them only having one ruck, for a lack of competitiveness, which they've seen in him since his junior days. He's now burnt his bridges at Port and will probably spend 2k15 behind Smith and Nicholls, languishing in the NEAFL. This will be his 5th year on an AFL list and he has achieved absolutely nothing to this point, is not in demand, and has just sent a giant message to every single club in the AFL as to his professionalism by ranting in the media. We tried to get a deal done, it didn't work, but he had 0 other clubs lining up for him and signed his own fate when penning a contract, so I don't see how this reflects badly on us.

Lets sign Baulderstone as a late pick/rookie and forget this guy ever existed, please.

I am disappointed we didn't get Gorringe last year or this year and it is disappointing to read that him and his father are upset with Port.

No matter how hard it is for the lad to take the disappointment you got to keep it out of the papers. Got to think about the future.

Trying to secure both Ryder and Gorringe was always looking impossible.

It is odd that he didn't return last season when uncontracted though.

Perhaps there was miscommunication or perhaps Port sold too much optimism? Who knows.

Doesn't sound like it can be mended now.

Agree totally with this sentiment. Over-reactions on this board. He's just a kid who is really disappointed and has vented. Not unusual. None of us know how the negotiations played out and what he was told. Obviously the club had to put Ryder trade first.

I hope this can be mended and he gets to Port next year. I think Ken, Burgo and Voss could turn him into a good footballer. I hope we get the chance.

He's 22 not a kid. If Wingard or Wines got pissed, crashed a car, got into a fight, or harassed a girl we wouldn't be saying they're just kids. I personally have never seen someone unload so badly and so publicly on a club, especially one he supposedly wants to play for. Terrible form on his part and at the very least shows he has baggage that would need to be accompanied by a very very good 2015 for Port to be willing to take that on.

Sadly some people would.

Reading the fathers comments I can understand why he's upset. However it also sounds like a case of sour grapes. Kinda makes me think im glad we didn't get him, his comments suggest he was simply using Port as an avenue to get back to SA.

are they on acid over there on the suns board? calling us arrogant & full of it? so our name gets thrown under the bus and we fire up a bit, because a player was 'promised' things that couldn't be delivered.. when it was always going to be difficult to get this deal over the line. im sure, as KT mentioned in his presser we were doing everything in our power to get the deal over the line. paddy was our number 1 target all along, (not as if we've changed our mind last minute and opted for paddy), so we were tied up with that.

he can have a taste of his own medicine, we clearly wanted him last year and he backed out. we could have done with him this season, and as ridiculous as this may sound he may have fired and been the difference between us going one step further than we did, or he could have spudded it up, regardless. he pulled out last year. the score is even at 1-1 in my books. no need for a decider now, its done. you don't mad mouth our club and expect the people not to fire up. you're 22 for god sake, show some mannerism and respect. enjoy the rest of your career.

He's a Dad. Dads get ridiculously protective of their kids even when they are clearly in the wrong. Honestly, I see Port saying that we would do our best to get him over here, but I do strongly doubt we'd say 'Its 100%, lock it in!' until papers were signed. I just don't think any of it justifies having a huge tiff at the club on the Facebook page or in general, it doesn't help your sons reputation especially when he's being criticized for having a poor attitude. Does he honestly think having these huge vents has helped his sons standing AT ALL in respect to the AFL? As of right now, what club would be willing to back him? I'm beginning to suspect that Hinkley knew about his temperament beforehand, but backed the club to chip off his ego and attitude in the upcoming years.

If he has a very good 2015 he'll be at the Crows in 16. Despite my disappointment in missing out on Gorringe I have great confidence that the club did the best they could. Would love to see Baulderstone at the club, like the way he goes about it.

I'm worried that everyone knows about Baulderstone now. Would be a great get, but would think if he slips to the preseason draft clubs will pick him up. With no other ready made ruck options, maybe we should take a punt and give him a senior list spot with a late pick?

This isn't going to be popular but a lot of posts have been arrogant recently on the Port board which is annoying and goes against the club ethos. Just because we are getting some success doesn't give us the right to trash other clubs and other clubs supporters. It's not a good look.

I guess it makes sense that humble Matty Primus was a Roger James fan.

I hope we pick him up with 57 or 75 (I think that's our numbers) but I'm sure the club knows better than me

Look Im sorry but the AFC are a terrible franchise and the supporters are just shocking..

So Gorringe is upset and felt lied to, then told a reporter as much. Is that really anything to get all that upset about.

Yeah it ain't professional, but we were targetting him for his footballing ability, not his interview ability.

Not a good look for who? It's an internet forum where the main topic is football.

Your attitude and temperament in the way that you deal with other things in life will often determine your work ethic and attitude towards AFL. As well as that, we need to introduce players who won't cause emotional drama or tiffs at the club. He is willing to publicly decry a club, despite not having finished his contract (which makes you unpopular, so the best thing to do is shut your mouth and stay humble), so what does this say about him?

It tells us that he is a bit of a dick and doesn't handle adversity very well. The joys of being a successful club again is that you can choose who comes, rather then getting hasbeens or never beens. He would have to play one hell of a 2015 to suggest the risk of unsettling the playing group is worth it.

We are trying to recruit quality people to the club. His behaviour under stress is important. A quality culture will build sustained success. It's why prospective recruits do get interviewed.

What lies exactly was Gorringe told by the PAFC?

He is a contracted player at the Gold Coast. He signed that contract. He decided he wanted to come home to SA and the Cows weren't interested but Port said they'd look at doing a trade for him. We couldn't come up with a trade that was acceptable to the Gold Coast so Port are the villain. o_O

would rather ruck sam gray over this neafl sook. will anyone want him at the end of the year? im sure some piss weak club will see something in a useless spud, lets be honest spud stanley and dud jones got a shot a new club.

Having been on the receiving end of many Crows supporters when we were down and being kicked to the ground by the SA media and Crows supporters in general I'm not a fan. But the club found a positive way out of those times by going to the Vic media who have embraced us. This has made the club much stronger as we now have a National profile. Obviously we are playing much better footy as well but if we'd stuck with the SA media nothing would have changed. Those bad times have united our club and supporter base. This year has been fantastic and I feel I'm a part of something special. The march to the G for the prelim and the feeling among supporters at the ground was such a highlight as was the crowd reaction at the Richmond home final. The club managing to get the jumpers ready in time was such a great story and the players did the jumper proud. I love the image the club presents and would like to see all our supporters do likewise.
