So would you prefer to piss off one of the biggest management groups in the game which will impact your ability to get their clients in the coming years? Or would you rather take a little less now to keep that bridge intact?
I’m more concerned about the precedent this sets. We quite literally could not have more leverage to get a better than average return (2xAA at the peak of their powers, contracted for another 3 years, nominated a state not a club, publicly said happy to come back if a deal can’t be reached).

If we settle for unders in these circumstances, especially after we’ve publicly stated that any deal for Dan would have to be better than fair value, then why would any club bother paying fair value in future when we don’t have so many mitigating factors in our favour?

Taking an unders deal imo would be more detrimental to the club in BOTH the short and long term, than if we simply walk away and call Houston’s bluff about coming back to us next season and seeing out his contract with us.

WTF why are we always expected to be the reasonable club? What good has it done us?
Geelong don’t give a **** about pissing people off do they?

Hugely alarming if this is how the club views trades involving first round picks and AA players.

Yes I'd like to piss people off once in a while rather than bending over quicker than a cheap hooker & strengthening the biggest mollycoddled behemoth in the sport.

**** Paul Conners. Call him out on his underhanded tactics. The guy is slime. The Malbun Footy Industry. Dirtbags like this campaigner.

Dan signed 5 years and the Club paid more than fairly.
Since that 2022 signing, he has achieved 2 x AA and his price has sky-rocketed.

the Club backed him in, if he flopped like say a DBJ, Dan would have still gotten the same amount of money.
The AFLPA are player focused and don’t like these KPI, incentive clause based contracts.

It sucks for us as Dan has probably shot up $150-200k per year but if the shoe is on other foot we can’t decrease his wage.

I’m perplexed someone like John Ralph who is die hard Richmond commands all this attention in Trade week and says Rioli is worth pick 6 plus more as he is contracted yet Houston who is twice the player, coming of dual AA is only worth this much.

Leppitsch is a try hard playing the Dodoro game, Ports are becoming the new Gold Coast in trade week. If we were Geelong or Richmond, Dan would be getting us 2 x top 10 picks.

It is mind blowing, if we accept this standard we are pathetic and heads should roll.

At least Choco showed balls with Nick Stevens, now we live in a world of mediocrity and when things aren’t going well we blame that the list isn’t good enough whilst throwing our future away bringing in hybrid footballers.

So disappointing.

The last 8 wins out of 9 was the worst thing that could have happened as it keeps these ****wits like Koch, Ken and Co for another year/s.

2017 debacle
11-4 and missing finals
Every final in last 10 years..

I’d go on bit I’m not going to get blisters on my fingers or waste a whole page of this thread as it is pointless.

I hate how as soon as we have a run on, Koch and Ken run it in our faces Ginnivan style.

Bunch of pathetic pricks.

Nearly as pathetic as the Sack Ken pages as Ken will be with us for another flipping 10 years and beyond whilst we have these self serving ****wits involved with our Club!

Pretty important we keep a good relationship with Connors so we can attract such stars as Esava Ratugolea and Ivan Soldo to the club on 800k contracts.

Davies already on record saying Port will consider the trade period a success if they get in what they are seeking, which is Luko and Richards.

What that means is all Davies will seek in return for Houston and Soldo is enough capital to land those two players. These players are effectively now dead to the club, and will be moved on, for unders most likely, noting Port can now land Luko with F1 and Richards through Houston. Pick 13 will be seen as the sweetener.

This is the approach Port take to trade week and they openly say so. Collingwood will make out like bandits as a result. Peeps clinging to hopes of Houston moving to North Melbourne should know this club better.

I’m shocked to be quoting this.
