What actually is the north offer? Everyone keeps saying how good it is but have they even offered anything yet?

Rules out Carlton

I love how the media and Melbourne clubs still really think that we'll cave and just accept the best deal Coll or Carlton can dish up.

There is no need. Houston has publicly said he is happy to stay.

We shouldn't be caving. I would like to see Houston here next year personally.

The absolute ****ing gall to suggest port should / could take pick 14 on its own in an offseason barrass rioli and Bolton will go for far more ..

just shows what a ****ing shitshow this game is.

Just call it the vfl and quit the whole national league pantomime.
Love how it's not even the 12 pick, it's just "oh, they won't accept the 13 and Richards, but they'll just cave for 14".

Barrett doesn't even think before he speaks.

It's not going to happen but imagine if North blindsides everyone and gives up its F1 and 2024 2nd rounder to GC for their pick 6 and 13 or something like that. That would make the last few days of the trade period entertaining. :tearsofjoy:

We need to forget about Carlton. They only have 12, 14 & F2 to play with. They won't give up 12 & 14 (the perfect fair deal) because they wanna go to the draft with at least one, and even 12 and the F2 just isn't enough.

Not even sure they can trade F2 to be honest, given they don't have their F1.

So Carlton is out.

I wrote a similar message to a person at Port and they were very quick to remind me that the media don't influence trades getting done on any side. The media are typically reporting info that was disseminating among list managers well before it gets reported.

The media reporters also report with bias given their allegiance (fandom) of certain teams. Lots of Pies fans in the media - it's why Glen McFarlane for instance was implying that Port needed to add a sweetener to get the Houston deal done - because he's a mad Pies fan.

Same goes for Jon Ralph and Richmond.

Don't worry about what the media are saying right now. There really are only a few dominos anyone should take notice of:

  • who gets pick 13?
  • does North split pick 2?
  • do Carlton come late and offer 12 and 14?
  • does the Luko trade occur independently of Collingwood getting involved?

I suspect we will have many more answers in the next 24 hours.

If I was a betting man, my money would be on Houston ending up at North.

Michael Voss calls up the Carlton's list management and demands them to give up 12 and 14 for Houston and 2nd rounder back. He has prior experience with trading out assets before. :tearsofjoy:

Then they’re absolutely full of shit, or to be more precise, they can’t see the Forrest cause they are in the trees.

We’ve continually made some of the poorer trades in recent eras. And then there’s the times we haven’t folded, but the common denominator there in those trades are the opposing team had no real interest in pushing us. Anytime they have, they’ve succeeded really. Even trades that have worked out like Dixon, we still folded on. Gcs suspended him, literally marched him out the door with a gun to his head then a month later pretended to talk tough in trades with us. We might be the only team that’s folded to gcs lol.

Weve had teams bent over a barrel and instead of going in dry weve somehow been reverse draw’d 2 without even knowing that was in the rules.

And the continued mistake of attributing success to the list management team just because Parker has nailed the draft. There’s been a lot of stuff where he’s actually made it look better.

All the trades we did to get pick 5, if we had taken Caldwell, jones or hately etc there , **** , those trades would have looked like the absolute risk they were. Paid off because we landed rozee. We were relying on sinn to stay fit and be the player we hoped to make those trades look good.

The media have zero idea what we are doing. It's been quite entertaining.

He's going to Carlton because

I find it amusing that you are harping on about a trade done 9 years ago involving a KPF who was entering his prime and ended up becoming an All-Australian at Port, spending 9 years at our Club and was one of, if not the most important player to any team's success in the league for a fair amount of those years.

Cripps is involved in the draft as much as Parker so you're selling him short there.

They targeted Rozee at #5 and it was a massive reason why they were so willing to let Wingard go during that 2018 trade period. Every trade is going to have an element of risk. The Club have been fairly aggressive in attempting to get their targets every year. Whilst some trades have been a little egregious for my liking, I would suggest that not every trade is going to be as beneficial relative to output as getting Aliir for a second round pick either.

I certainly don't think that any of the moves they've made during the Hinkley era have been collectively the difference between having more on-field success.

Lol. Nothing you’ve said here makes what I’ve said untrue.

Ahh yes, I forgot that you're always right about everything and almost never will even be willing to consider a different viewpoint to your own. Carry on.

Still plenty of water under the bridge to go.

Let the List Guys do their thing.

I mean he's a dual AA, elite kicking, QB seagull of the highest order.

The offers will be upped. I don't even think there are many other Vics coming home to rock the boat.

He's definitely the jewel for the trading period for a Melbourne team wanting a great player to finish off their build like Carlton, extend their window like Collingwood or actually be relevant in the trade game and build towards changing the perception of the club in the Kangaroos. And why not a smokey like Melbourne to throw their hat back in the ring. Houston would fit like a glove in that backline.

I'm just going to be patient and wait to see the haul and then analyse it.

But but but Sam Edmond said it’s farcical to think journalist are skewed in their reporting based on the team they support!!!!! 😂
