So how do you think they would split pick 2? Go to Freo for 10 and 16 (that is around the quivalent pick value), give Port 10 and a future first?

If you weren't prepared to give up 10, then it wouldn't happen.
Freo is the obvious choice but I don't think its workable on its own. North would need to find a way to bring F1 in to this year, and I think they only do that if they can land Houston and still have a high end pick this year. Personally I don't think there's a way to make that happen looking at the draft order. (Edit: Unless Richmond have their eyes on multiple 2025 draftees)

I've been championing on our board for us to make the deal happen but it's certainly becoming difficult to find a middle ground. Maybe our respective list managers will blow us away with something creative, but if you can't replace him this year when you're in a premiership window then I think he stays another year at least.

I still think if you get appropriate compensation you do the deal. We need to get some talent in other areas of the field - specifically talls and smaller forwards.

Perryman doesn't even really have a Dan Houston skill set anyway.

We have Sinn on the books. He is a first round draft pick who has a bit of talent and hasn't had much of a go. Back him in the Houston role and see what he can do.

If it goes terribly Im sure there will some other flanker who we can try.

Freo's 2 picks wouldn't be enough for 2 anyway. The only club seemingly willing to part with picks of the right value appears to be GC. You'd have to be looking to try and collect their 6 and 10 or whatever it is, and then pass it on, but obviously they are tied up with other deals. I think 6 alone probably gets the deal done for Dan. 10 would require another late 1st.

Very hard to see how they get this done, but I suspect that the club's will find a way. Port tend to try and be the nice guy and help facilitate the move. If Carlton gave up 11 and a future first, that'd get it done as well. But they've gotta realise the value.

Guess another club could still come into play if Dan is extremely keen.

Rozee and smarts dont fit in the same sentance

I think you mean butters smarts and agility.
I think people have to take their "negative hat" off with Rozee! He is a top player, that just needs to get his focus back.

When I say "smarts & agility" I was referring to his skills once he gets the ball, dodging, weaving, avoiding tacklers. When he is on-song with that, he is very damaging. I see the same in Draper, only with JHF's attributes to boot. Gonna be a star!

Our clubs managed a spectacular trade a couple of years ago, so over to them. ;)

If Oliver leaves, Melbourne might try and push themselves back into the convo.

Restructure Dan’s contract to include a pay rise, as he’s a very required player for us.
I’m with you. Pay him more he deserves the same as what we’d pay Perryman and keep him.

Yes still trade him, we need a top pick or a top small forward in the comp.
Keeping Dan I think we can do that.

Rioli, SPP, DBJ and Rozee small forwards

After hearing for years how Hinkley was such a drawcard, I hope the failure to lure players over the last couple years starts to wake the board up to the external perception of Hinkley and us.
Be carefull what you wish for where unlike the Crows we do not just seek out ex-pat SA players.

Perryman was wrapped with his interview with Ken, then got cold feet with all the talk Ken would not be coaching Port.

North pick 2 to gc for 6 and 12

North then trade 12 and future 1st for Houston.

I'd take it
They won't do anything with that future 1st though. That'll be the problem. They'd be better off just doing straight 6 and removing all other risk. The future first could be anywhere from 1-4.

Only if we turn the future 1st into a top 10 in this year's Draft. Assuming that whomsoever we try to get that pick from guess that it will fall in the pick range of 1-6 next year, depending on how much Norf improve.

And then we still have to get Luko - maybe what we get for Soldo, plus a couple of 2025 mid-range picks that GC can trade into Academy picks this year?

This from Ralph:
"It would require a PHENOMENAL deal........".

Cut this crap that a pick around 10-12 gets it done. Not in a million years!
Otherwise, Dan stays here. The GF can move over here to live.

Happy one of Norths first rounders.

If it's Carlton it should be 11 AND 12.
