Daniel Jackson - is he captaincy material?

Remove this Banner Ad

The Jacksons, Moores, Meyers, Connors, Hughes, Schulz, JON etc, etc. are on their last chance as this year's crop of young draftees fight for a position in the Seniors.......a position they should have cemented already.

Cheers
Connors? Connors has only had one season, so I wouldn't say he's on his last chance. I agree with the others, though.

When I saw this thread I thought it was a complete joke. You know your teams in trouble when someone brings up Jackson as a possible captain

He has to compete against players like Foley, Deledio, Newman, Coughlan for captaincy.

I would find it surprising if he managed to beat all of these four for the captaincy.

I'm going to get hung here, but l honestly reckon Jackson is probably in our 5 worst players (not inc new draftees). Utter hack... happy to be proven wrong. He just looks simple and just doesnt give you any great confidence.

A fit Coughlan, Polo and Co... and Jacko would never have played a game last year.

most of you people are a bunch of fools and tools.

you wouldn't know potential if you saw it.

How many of you have for years said that Schulz was our next great hope? He has been a dud from the start. How many have said Hyde was going to be a star? How many big noted White & Howat? What about Tambling, a miserable failure so far. Most of you are still waiting for the day Richo will kick 100 goals...not even the new shrink can help him kick or think straight!

You can't see the forest from the trees. You keep saying that Wallace will be our saviour when he can only win 3.5 games. Our saviour is ceo Stephen Wright so most of you need to get a grip on that.

The question I asked is if Jackson is captaincy material, not if he is better than a lot of the others. He has the aggression and leadership qualities that most of our other so far dud players have not yet shown. I think you will find he will be become a very good player.

i can say those highlighted ones i can say i never have said - tambling i was positive about when we drafted him, but agree he needs to improve - to say he is a "miserable failure" is a bit dramatic

a "miserable failure" is probably your post of "Jackson for captain"

dick weed.:p

Ok, l'll bite... you're just flat out taking the piss now.

Some may have been wrong with waiting too long for Shulz/Hyde. We may be wrong of our assessment of Wallace. But no one, absolutely no one has made more of a fool of themselves as you putting Daniel Jackson as a potential captain of our club.

Its hard to lead, if you're not getting a game.

Tambling has been nothing but a miserable failure...so far. I hope he proves us wrong. He hasn't shown much so far, and all we've copped is a bucket load of bagging about not picking Franklin.

I had my doubts about Jackson early, but he's improving rapidly. I hope Tambling can improve too.

I look forward to you eating humble pie.

although i do like pie's from "Humble Pie" - i fail to see how you can make me eat it?

i never said jackson was a hack - only in jackson becomes captain - will i need to eat some "humble pie"

i reckon i better get some sausage rolls, cos i ain't gonna be eating pie for a looonnnnggg time:D

Surely Richmond has other young players that are more likely to step up into a leadership role that Jackson who would struggle to be in your best 18. Why not make N. Brown captain now.. Then Deledio or Foley to follow:confused:

idiots...all of you.

I said "captaincy material"...I did not say that he would be our NEXT captain. I was asking if he could build into a leadership role in time, and PERHAPS be in line for captaincy in the future. Get it??? Next time I'll dumb down the question for you hapless fools.

He single handedly turned one game for us this season he got like 10 touches in a quarter showed some real class. Im hopeing he shows more of this next year.

Also in the VFL grandfinal he roughed a couple of guys up he had the geelong ruckman in a headlock when he finally let go the ruckman came up with the redest face i have seen and was swinging wildly was one of the better moments in an otherwise bleak day.

could he be captain? I doubt it but stranger things have happened

Jackson is a very intelligent young man with a strong streak of 'mongrel' in him. He started out as a bottom age player with very little in the way of football smarts and still lacks a bit in this department, but he's showed in 2007 that he can overcome it and continue to improve the more he plays at top level. He can go foward and be damaging both overhead and through his physical pressure, he's suited to a defensive role, and he shows great promise as a strong midfielder either as a tagger or as a midfielder in his own right.

He's going to become an important player for us in the future. Very doubtful that he'd be considered for a captaincy role, but stranger things have happened. A lot can change in a season or two and I'd be surprised if he didn't become part of the leadership group.

i can't believe this thread is still going.can you imagine daniel jackson being captain?that's because it won't happen....ever.

Agreed... and we wonder why so many other posters come and troll our board. Shit like this just embarasses us and deserve all the crap that we get.

Worst thread and worst opinion ever.

I'm going to call it very early, but I reckon J Riewoldt may be our next captain depending on how long Sugar holds onto it for. There may be someone else that captains before him but one day Jack will captain the Tiges.

Re: Daniel Jackson

i think after johnson gives up the captaincy it should be given to a young player not browny or anyone like that..

i really like daniel jackson and i hope he plays some good footy from now on, he has shown us that he can be an awesome tagger

NOW the problem i see is we have some other good young kids that would be hard to look over to give jackson captaincy like Deledio, foley, maybe even coughlan if he can get back to his best or maybe cotchin if he can make some magic in the next few years.... ive always been a fan of having a young leader if they show maturity
