Every cent we spend on Jackson is a cent wasted. He gives us nothing but a warm body to put on the ground. The only reason he's been getting a game is he is not a stringbean like most of our kids.
GWS can have him in a flash. He can play the same role for them; protecting their kids from being squashed.
The annoying thing is he should have been traded two years ago when he looked like he might have some value.

Unfortunately due to Wallace's incompetence in development we gave a number of players the benefit of the doubt.

Rance, King, Nahas, even Vickery werent looking the goods at that stage, remember? Some players have stepped up since the changes in our Development coaches.

Unfortunately for DJ I dont feel he has been able to make that step.

I'd say both Newman and Foley are available at the right price. Grimes is certainly one we have to hold onto probably Griffiths as well. Post and Astbury deserve more time when you consider Rance and Vickery wouldn't have made this list last year.

WHilst i agree on quality that Newman and Foley as players are available for the right price however Newman is the captain of the club. You can't trade the captain unless he asks to leave. Foley i'm happy to trade started the year well and has gone backwards. Needs to be a good deal though. First rounder of GWS 17yo. Post I would do for a compo or early 2nd/late 1st rounder if another club liked him. Maybe Adelaide compo? They need a key back now don't they? The rest I agree are untouchable.

Why not? David Cloke asked to leave but there was some pretty strong pushing.

LOL at using us as an example. We are the only club in the last 30 years to probably do that and look at us :D

We are a rabble :(

By all means make Cotch captain then go for it lol

intresting rumour. but thats all it is at this stage. intresting this comes out after his 100th game..

make sure we get a good pick dont let him leave for nothing.

Can't remember, but do GWS get pick #1 in the PSD? I didn't think GC did, but could be wrong.

Cool

So the rumour is probably one he made up or vastly exaggerated then.

Nothing to see here
Move along
Exactly what I was thinking. Funny how many posters slag him for something we don't even know is true. If you don't rate him, fine, but to bag him because he's RUMOURED to be holding out for more money...

so there are precedents........lets do it:cool:

And the Hogg one led to our best year in recent memory, 1995, did it not?

GC had pick 1 in PSD and took Nathan Ablett.

If they take one of our players its still an uncontracted player and we get compo. Otherwise GC could have taken Jared Brennan in PSD but had to get Brisbane's permission to do so.

**** I would happily pay to hire a truck and personally drive up to Blacktown to deliver his things if it meant I didn't have to watch him play anymore.

DJ is a very intelligent man, he is negotiating if this rumour is true...he could probably manage himself if he wanted to.

i think he is requried still, we cant just keep off-loading mature age for 17 year olds, it just does not work...he is obviously carrying something this year, let him get over it in the off season. we need these foot soldiers to give a cut out for the emerging blue chip mids we have

Our blue chip mids give the chop out for our footsoldiers most of the time.

We need foot soldiers who know they are and play like foot soldiers , ' to give a cut out for the emerging blue chip mods we have ' , we dont need players with only foot soldier abilities, trying to play like blue chip mids !

our emerging blue chips are tiring and are out of sorts at the moment.

the way i see it is that jackson is one of the few succesful recruits we had during the wallace years...2001 to about 2006 has netted us very little in the way of players.

next year i see the midfield looking pretty similar to this seasons:
cotchin, martin, foley, jackson, conca, deledio (pleeaseeee)

tuck seems to be going, so i excluded him. thats only 6 genuine mids there. not a whole lot of ball winning ability outside those 6 and im being fairly generous to conca there. way off it still

i dont want to go the melbourne route of just draft, draft, draft and kids, kids, kids.

need some bodies there, its a process that has to be undertaken, we have heaps of players from 18-22 but stuff all outside that becuase of the horror draft years of 2001 to 2006. we have to complement the young with the old.

by the way i think young alex rance could develop into a midfield monster, not sure about his Vo2 and the sort but he could be an inside ball winning monster....but lets set him up at full back first

I here this we need big bodies all the time , tell me what does Jackson bring to the table which takes heat off our young players . Does he get an opposition sides tagger , NO . Does he excell at blocking allowing the young players space , NO. Is he proficient at tagging allow our blue chip mids , as described by others , to avoid them taking the opposing sides best mid . NO !
Does he regularly go forward and kick goals . NO . Can he go back and play on a Stevie J type forward . NO.
He adds very little to assist in the development of our young players , at least if we add another talented youngster after half a season there is a chance they will require some defensive efforts from the opposition !
