Daniel Kerr - can we afford him/do we want him?

What if it could be done but only if it was a 3 way deal involving Stevo going to another club?

I think we'd end up having to give up too much. I think Stevo is undervalued and i personally think he's great for our club.

We need leadership and Stevo oozes it. Not so much Kerr - wouldn't say he's the greatest role model. Lets not take away from his ability though!

Why don't we get Kerr and J Brown?

Also, I heard Dean Cox doesn't like the Eagles any more. And Ben Rutten has decided not to sign in Adelaide. Also, the entire Geelong backline said they want to play with Judd. Riewoldt is tired of the limelight at St Kilda and wants to play HFF for the Blues. There's a rumour that Ryan O'Keefe AND Adam Goodes have had a major falling out with Roosey and want to come south too.

FFS...

I'd much rather Nathan Brown from Collingwood than Kerr, Glass, Rutten, Cox, Riewoldt, O'keefe or Goodes, possibly even J Brown although I'm not going to make that call until I see how the CHF: J Brown FF: B Fevola combination works in the Hall of Fame Tribute Match...

I'd like to have him, but I don't want to be known as the club that importer WC's midfield. Not sure the salary cap would allow it either.

Besides, isn't Kerr a West Aussie? I don't think he's jump states premenantly to see Chris again.

I'm sure Carlton will have a good hard look at this one, and seek some guidance from Judd over this one. If he is here to play footy, and can maintain a "clean-sheet" off field, I certainly wouldn't mind having Kerr in our midfield. Problem is, what we have to give up? Plenty would be my thought.

Hansen takes more marks up the ground. Hartlett has berely played a game and edwards should play as a small forward. The only one that could play CHF out of those players would be hartlett and as i said he has berely played a game.

jacobs and hampson? cloke out of the picture? you would play those three ruck options? too many considering kruezer and hampson by themselves can both be no. 1 ruckmen why would we play a third.

You wouldn't waste Kreuzer or Hampson sitting on the bench for half a game being 2nd ruckman. Therefore Kreuzer will play a lot up forward in addition to ruck duties.

Very happy with Cloke at present however Jacobs has shown some big improvement this year so hopeful he will make the grade down the track.

Edwards will never be a small forward, how many big guys do you want up forward.

Definitely don't want Hansen.

They are talking about hampson with his athletic ability able to move forward so wouldnt you alternate him and kruezer in the forward line therefore not needing jacobs?

So you want kruezer as the main CHF?

Do you then alternate jacobs and hampson off the bench or what?

Guys...

You do realise, the only thing the Victoria media are clinging to is the fact that Kerr and Judd were mates.

Kerr was interviewed on WA Radio today and said that all of his family are in Perth, he grew up supporting West Coast, he wants to stay home, yes he was mates with Judd, but it's not as if he cannot function without him, he is contracted until 2009 and wants to sign a new one, sooner rather than later he said...

He wont leave

There are a lot of unknowns at present with Hampson, jacobs,Kreuzer & the roles they can play.

I have no doubt Kreuzer will be a gun up forward & in the ruck, Hampson not so sure about how good he would be up forward & Jacobs probably only ruck.

Definitely all 3 could play in the same team.

I'm just not sold on Hansen, seems to get injured a lot & we have Edwards & Hartlett who have shown enough to suggest they have futures.

I would prefer to target a small/medium forward to support Eddie.

We now have small defenders in Armfield,Browne & Anderson but don't have any small forwards other than Eddie & maybe Ellard if he makes it.

Why has he put contract talks on hold then?

Kerr in Perth off the field has the worst reputation!
We are developing a great squad and do not need a player of highly questionable character, with dodgey hamstrings and a hero complex.
Stick with our kids that are Blue thru and thru.

The only chance in hell Daniel Kerr will ever come to Carlton will be if some, if not all of these events occur:
1. This has to almost certainly occur, he ____s up again off the field and West Coast decides that they've had enough and give him his marching orders. Otherwise, why on earth would he leave Perth?
2. Even with Chris Judd's large salary, I reckon we still have enough room to accommodate him in the salary cap. But what price will he demand and how much will we be willing to pay?
3. Do we need another midfielder? Don't we have enough? If we are going to spend big on another big name, wouldn't we be better off spending it on a quality key defender (like S.Fisher, Glass etc)?
Plus you've got to take into account what we might have to give up to get him as others have mentioned and perhaps think that some unforseen circumstances occur. I'd be happy to have him here, but this is just wishful thinking surely.

Very good point. And our captain's opinion on him would be a crucial factor as others have said.

Also on face value I'd love Kerr in our midfield but would adding him really increase the team's performance that much given our quality midfield already. Maybe 10%?? But would pressure our salary cap FAR more.

A classy defender or forward would add much more to our team. But of course these are best developed ourselves - cost way more to trade for.

Pie in the sky stuff probably, but hey so was Judd 12 months ago...

He hasn't put contract talks on hold, that's bullshit, spun by the Victorian media, looking for a story.

Unless of course, Kerr was lying on radio yesterday

You'd have to wonder then where Mike Sheahan got that story from. Where there is smoke, there is fire.
