What effect will Motlop not being around have? Is he staying in Darwin? Because I'm sure this will have a pretty big effect on Wells....

Woodson said:C'mon Angus. Get a grip on yaself. Anyone could see Junior's BUNG shoulder coming to this... as some have passed comment about being furious with the medicos advice... well, give yaselves a pat on the back. It's done now. Get on with life. He'll be back. Don't worry about things you can't control.
Tas said:Perhaps the silver lining to the dark cloud will be perhaps Perkins elevated from rookie status due to long-term injury and allow him to play early in year where otherwise he would not be able to play.
He's spending a week or two up there after his surgery and then coming back so I don't think it will effect Wells at allKingyOrTheKing said:What effect will Motlop not being around have? Is he staying in Darwin? Because I'm sure this will have a pretty big effect on Wells....
Moti said:So, our best forward is missing the majority of the season.
And Drew is still at CHF.
OK, I'm not worried.
Shinboners said:It'll be the very fine silver lining - a spot opens up for another player. And that new player may not necessarily be a half forward. Motlop's injury might force Laidley to use Grant and/or Boomer more in the forward line, thus opening up a spot for Grima. Or maybe Grant moves to half-forward, Sinclair goes to the middle, and someone like Urch gets the chance to cement a spot on the half-back line.
Whilst I'd prefer to have Motlop out on the field, I think we should keep in mind that the shuffling of the side might open up a door for one of the other kids.
What happened with Carey was that when his ligaments were sewn together they ended up too tight. The idea is to stop the shoulder from moving around to much in the socket. It should feel tight initially however over time the ligaments will loosen slightly. Carey would have had top surgeons working on him yet he never had full movement in his shoulder again.Asprilla said:Will this surgery reduce the range of motion in Junior's shoulder as it did to Carey's? Would be a real shame if it did as Junior's overhead marking is one of the strengths of his game.

The big problem is our forward line is now down 40ish goals for this year...which means whoever replaces him, will need to kick/create this many for the team to just break-even on points-for....or our defence will need to tighten up by 2-3 goals per game.
