Way I see it is he's gonna average a 90 just by rocking up.

If he does well and gets that up to 110 he is kept.

If he stays at 90, I'll upgrade him to the superstar that's just scored 60 (i.e. Bartel in middle of last season).

bag his fantasy score out all you like but he was not beaten by a first gamer and was actually one of our best players on the day

wellsy only needs 20 touches to have a huge influence on the game so just because he didnt get a huge fantasy score doesnt mean he "did nothing" or "was beaten by a first gamer"

and FWIW cheney only played on him for about 10 mins when he went forward, the rest of the time bruce was on him

I've got him, and if he doesn't perform as much as i would like within the first 4-5 rounds, i have the money to upgrade him to M.Murphy.

Mate u cant compare him to Goddard, their two totally different players.

They were picked in the same draft #1 and #2. Goddard will play midfiled this year in a similar role to Wells. They're more similar than u think.

Wells struggles to shake tags, if let run free he is very damaging but not many are going to let that happen. He will be up & down all year plus he does seem to attract injuries.

I've got him and hoping he can "take the next step". It's a calculated gamble and if it pays off, could pay off handsomely.

Gotta be in it to win it!

Worst case scenario is upgrade/trade mid-season.

I really think DWells will finally take the game he was made for by storm this year. I know everyone's been riding him off but Wellsy for me will come to be a champion this year.

Preseason Average SC: 118.

What does everyone else think?
:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Weve been hearing this garbage for the best part of 5 years and we are all still waiting for his break out year which i believe has expired.I wont be in a rush to trade him in

Mate, i totally understand you.

85 DT/ 46 SC

absolute crap.

But i would wait it out a few more weeks to do a sideways trade, too early.

If your going to do a side ways trade now is a good time to do it. I have boomer harvey as a forward and am seriously considering trading him now. After round 3 he will go down in value a fair bit and looking at his current form he is really struggling at the moment. He is doing my head in :(

Negative.

If he keeps spudding along he drops too much value.

I'm just going to keep Raines and 'use' that trade to get rid of this fool. :thumbsu:
With you 100%. Too valuable to let his value drop. If you can find $35k then you have yourself Gibbs. Or there's Foley around his price.

As I said you will get what you paid for with Wells.

He will have the odd monster game (likely next week against an undermanned Hawthorn). But he will tagged out of games and go to water all too often to average much more than he does every year.

There will be ups and downs but at the end of the year he will average 90 odd. Again. He's a talented footballer but he's not elite. And despite teasing to become so EVERY pre-season he never will be.

****.

I'll put my hand up, i got sucked in by Well's pre-season form.

I've put aside 2 trades for 'sideways' action.

This week Wells gets the arse.

Its stupid, its noobish, etc etc.

But **** it.
+1

A couple of 1 game rookies have bought me a week with my Anthony trade so im willing to swallow my pride and get rid of Wells.

I thought I was gonna give him a red hot crack and assess mid-season if he needed to go.

But I think I'm gonna go sideways to Nicky Dal

Don't think I will keep him.
I couldn't decide between him and Gibbs before Round 1. Went with him as I thought he might average a touch more than Gibbs and was cheaper.
But now I'm going to pay the price of -1 trade for getting that decision wrong.
