Where did he hold the club to ransom, he had offers from other clubs and could have signed with, but knocked them back to stay. Gee it not like he is getting a million dollar contract
When he told them he would be walking out if he wasn’t given a 3 year deal on more coin and more opportunities in the ones he would leave. That’s why he is on an over inflated contract 400k a year is overs for him

LOL, now you're just making up shoit to push your same old tired barrow.

So you know for a fact Mason even had any involvement in the negotiations?
So you know for a fact he (or his manager) threatened to move?
So $15-20k above what will be the predicted new average salary under the new agreement is over inflated?

Seriously, you need to let it go.

I agree that he needs to clunk more marks, but not necessarily close to goal. I reckon there's been a major change in our forward structure since last year and even the Hawthorn game. We're looking to have the big marking target not stay deep. He's playing much further up the ground outside 50 and its worked really well the last few weeks, because it's creating a heap more space for inside 50 leads and over the top runners to work into.

I reckon that's plan A for when they move the ball fast enough to prevent the opposition getting numbers back. However plan B for when that space has evaporated appears to be the key position forwards going deeper to be a get out kick. In those situations Cox needs to at least on some occasions take a mark and kick a goal as Reid has. Regardless it's good to see that the club has a coherent forward structure this year, alleviating one of my biggest frustrations when watching the team play in previous seasons.

On Moore I reckon he'll play back on his return. First it is where they planned for him to play and the position he trained all summer for. Second it addresses the lack of height in defense. If one of Reid or Cox need to be replaced in the forward line McClarty is the likely candidate as that is where he has been playing.

Lol you’re a fool. Yeah he has a manager but his manager acts on behalf of the client.

Do you know how averages work? The 8 players who are on a million plus move the average up and it is not a true reflection of what an average player is on. So just bleating that he is only 25k above average wage is stupid at best.

It was well reported that Cox was exploring other options as he wanted more than 2 years that was on offer at Collingwood. But obviously that never happened and I am making it up.

In defense of Seedsfan in this context when he says Mason I'm sure he means his manager. On your second point said manager would be negligent if he hadn't of used the interest of other clubs(including at least an implied threat of leaving) to get a better offer.

Where Seedsfan's argument is flawed is the assertion that Cox is only getting games because of this. If this was how selection worked then Mayne would have played 22 games last season.

No other club is interested in Mayne and it was reported that they tried to trade him to offload his contract. That’s the difference there the club doesn’t want to lose Cox so they are giving them the opportunities he asked for

My point was that contracts have nothing to do with which players run out on the field. Cox is being selected because the match committee believe he is the best player for the role. You could debate the merits of that all you like but claims about players getting games due to contract negotiations or stipulations are in the realm of conspiracy theories.

It’s not as black and white as that

Howe left Melbourne as he didn’t like the role he was playing and he is very well liked amongst Collingwood fans. It is something that happens. I hope more than anything Moore stays as he DeGoey and Grundy are our three most important young players. But we need to make sure he stays

And yet he is playing in a role he didn’t want to play and has happily signed on to do it for longer.

No player is bigger than the club. If Moore leaves because he is not happy with the position he is playing then I don’t want him at the Pies.

Offering confirmation he (Cox's manager) is fielding approaches from other clubs hardly constitutes a threat to pack his bags, implied or otherwise. It sets the framework for negotiations. Nothing more. Player manager 101. If there was any threat, actual or implied, then I'd hope the club would tell him don't let the door smack you on the arse on your way out. Happy to view the evidence of this threat but I doubt it's anything more than Seedsman reaching because he can't believe he was re-signed on what is essentially minimal salary.

It is, actually.

Its completely fanciful that Cox is getting a game because he demanded one in his contract. Hes getting a game because the club thinks he can develop into a very useful player.
They have no more or less faith in him now as they did last year, now they know they are a chance to lose him they are putting more time into him as they don’t want to lose him

This is the Moore thread people focus...........I will also be very concerned (like Snoop) if he isn't signed by mid year.

You can not afford to lose Moore it’s as simple as that

I think he will sign in the back half of the year. If you were in his position played two games and got injured you would want to get back to playing and back yourself to play well for a month or so to try and maximise you deal

Do yourself a favor and have a look at the agreement and salary guarantees for 1st and 2nd year players, you might then start to understand how the "average" comes about.

So now a manager taking a call from another club or arguing hard for contract terms and conditions constitutes a threat . Get over yourself.

Let me just say my ears pricked up when I read Snoop's comment about Sydney.......it tied in with something I heard a couple weeks ago that I didn't believe.

Moore could name his own price at our Club injured or not Seedsfan.

Dont worry Seedsfan is also saying shit about Moore
On the subject of Moore, we simply must sign him. He and Grundy are the foundation of our next premiership push. If he leaves we can forget about being a premiership threat for the foreseeable future.

The Cats were gone when Ablett left at end of 2010.

Hawks couldn’t afford to lose Buddy.

No player can’t be replaced. Moore’s overall performances have not been that good to date. Would like him to stay but he can’t dictate where he plays to the club.

The truth is somewhere in between. All I know is losing his old man at the peak of his career was a lose-lose for club and player and it would be bad to lose another Moore.

I would prioritise Moore over Lynch myself. If keeping Moore means we miss out on Lynch then we go shopping elsewhere.
