Darwin Football Association - Part 3

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Natone and Yolla should be a decent old game this week at the NCG. Does anyone know if the outcome will determine third spot on the ladder? In my opinion, Duffy and his boys arent travelling too well at the minute. Im sure they would be dissapointed with the second half of the season, and especially last weeks thumping at the hands of Ridgley. Not a good way to be travelling a week out from the finals.

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Pleasing at least to see the players duly suspended and maybe the umpires could have reported some more for abusive language but probably wanted some family time Monday night.Of the games our lads have had Brock was one of the best umpires and knowing him, he would go harder on Jack anyway.Jack does not need any help he puts his head over it and deserves all the kicks he gets, has more time on the ball than his brother Rowdy who after time at Ridgley, the Dockers and Wynyard has become a dirty old back pocket stopper but still has a racking left foot

Rowdy dirty ?? haha

Im tipping Yolla to win a tight one. With a double chance on the line, one would expect both sides to throw everything into the game. As for Rowdy becoming a dirty old backpocket player, I dunno about that. I think he gets to pick up the best running forwards each week, and as you do, tends to apply some physical pressure on his opponents. Im sure we would all relate to that, dosent mean he is a dirty player.:thumbsu:

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Chalky Grey is set to win his 3rd league goalkicking award in 4 years, Not a bad effort I must say. All you's laughed at me when I said at the end of last year on here that he would win the tittle this year :) He's still got a few years left IMO

A very good effort, and also taking into account his age and drawing the oppositions best defender each week. The Roos are the third highest scoring team in the comp, but looking at the stats, their defence is ranked sixth. So maybe if their forwards, chalky included, worked harder on putting pressure on the opposition backmen, they might have a chance to go deep into the finals.;)

Chalky should win, but not beyond Wilcox from Ridgley, who is six goals behind. The Saints take on Yeoman, while the old Chalkasaurus will have his work cut out against the Dolting boys from South. The DFA b&f might just go to Coulson, who, I heard, Is being keenly sought after by a number of NTFL sides. :thumbsu:

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Good to see if chalky can win goal kicking

Added touch to that match Richard Townsend (SB) and Sean Britcliffe both play 300th game

Well done to both, great servants of the game, Chalky usually struggles against his Premiership teammate in Baldy Gray but as always with any forward, entries in to the forward 50 and delivery very important and Ridgley have the best midfield in the comp so Willy will get plenty of opportunities one would think, anyway the game is about Premierships not individual awards , Yolla will take some knocking off currently and Roos traditionally intimidated by South but go marginally better at home

No disrespect to chalky but maybe that sums up the standard of forwards at the moment. Played mainly reserves in his 20s at burnie now leading the goalkicking in his 40s in our comp.
again guys not taking the piss just maybe we need a reality check.

It's a pity there are not more of the Chalky's of the world out there involved with football clubs. Fantastic contributer.

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

He may think that defence is something that you build around de paddock to keep de sheep & de cows in but he has been a loyal servant of the Somerset camp for a long time. If he's not the primary target up forward in the finals (ie Randall & Jones up there as well) he'll still manage to slot a few through

Heard a whisper that it may be his last home game this week, pretty keen to get back in to coaching and further develop his sons ongoing sporting pursuits, if it is, he will be grabbing as many jumpers as he can !

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Are you out there "Arrow"?? Your comments in the past seem to indicate you knew a bit about the game and the DFA - how do you think the Natone boys (1's & 2's) will go in the finals?

Mate he has finished either second or first in the league goal kicking for the last 5 years. It's not as if its just a one year thing and there have been some handy forwards in the darwin in that tame. So I'd say it has nothing to do with the standard of the darwin forwards. Just the fact that he has consistently kicked goals 50+ for the last 8 or 9 years in sides that have rarely been finals sides says to me that he is a pretty decent player.

here here somersetboy chalk is a pretty decent player and has done a great job out of the square for somerset over the years.another thing we have to remember to boys is no1 really holds down a full forward position all year anymore they rotate through a lot of positions therefore not getting the chance to kick a huge total of goals.

Yep too true, Chalky rarely if ever moves from the square and all the other notable goalkickers in the Darwin actually contribute more up the ground eg Mouse Butler, BJ Miller,Jarrod Willcox,Clarky from Yeoman, the two kings, excluding Mark, from Ridgley, Stubbsy from South who runs off half back but still kicks a few goals and even Jason Rayner.Geez, if Chalky had to move from the square he could only go loose in the back line as he wouldnt know how to man up and would want the kickouts !

I don't think Wilcox or Clarke move to far up the ground.

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

did hear that willy learnt everything he knows off his family realation mouse butler
Tell ya what, there was not much leading up the ground in the Combined game with Chalky, Mouse and Willy up there although Willy the best bowler of the 3, Mouse by far the longest strike of a ball and Chalky the best backstop !

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

I see in the paper today it is French Kisses last game with Yeoman tomorrow. He has done a fair job with a club that was nearly down and out, but from what i hear, he has gotten too big for his boots around the club. Since he mooched his way into the asst coaches role with the u23's he thinks he is a lot better coach than he really is. The guy is a w***er

Being abit harsh on Frenchy there I think Darwinasaurus. Since Frenchy has been on board the Robins actually haven't been to bad, They have come along way from being beaten by 200+ on a week to week basis. Atleast now they are competative. And from what I've heard he done a pretty good job in the state gig. You know you dont just get those positions, you've got to know abit about your footy before the'll give you a state gig. Give credit where it's due. Goodluck to Craig and all the best for the future:thumbsu:
