Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Great player Plappy has been but to lets look at it. A Large talent pool from far west to dport, he was able to recriuit the best young talent around. With quality depth at the club of expereience and youth, good facilities, a full coaching support staff of experienced people, being virtually a full time coach (general manager)and 3 qtrs of the year being undefeated, has he under achieved??
Not trying to be the bad guy, but weigh it up.

Had to kick a captain's goal. It's obvoius that the southern teams are lining a few pockets though - both the guys who belted Luke Russell have been cleared to play in the grand final.

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

I can believe that. I had no time for the ones when I played u18's at Burnie. They were a different bunch at the time though. Had Darren Winter coaching - and what a role model for us kids! Taught us how to king hit blokes:D At least when I witnessed Plappy pushing Matty Wooldridge in the face in Siroccos it was front on:D:D:D Then you get blokes like Pat Sweeny who walk around Burnie with chests out like they were ex-afl players! Any wonder SOME people barrack against their own

You need to pull your head in and stop writing crap! Haven't the NorthernTerritory got a Bigfooty page.... go and write shit about them, cos nobody here cares what you think!

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Is it time to start talking league mergers?
A few of us lads at work were going through the teams and this was what we came up with:

  • NTFL, Darwin, CHFA finished.
  • NWFU recommenced with 2 divisions
NWFU Div1: Wynyard, Smithton, Ulverstone (if no SWL), Penguin, Ridgley, Natone, South Burnie, Yolla, Somerset

NWFU Div2: Yeoman, Cuprona, Irishtown, Scotchtown, Redpa, Trowutta-City

Queenstown should merge with Rosebery in the NWFA. Divisions with relegation work in Victoria, and would work here. All it needs is some gutsy calls from club officials to avoid clubs completely falling away over the next 3 or 4 years. And yes, the NTFL clubs would be stronger initially, but would all even itself out over a couple of seasons....

What do you all think?????

Div 1 sounds good, would be good competiton but yes would take 1-2 seasons to even out. I couldnt imagine cuprona and yeoman would ever want to be travelling mifton way every second weekend. Once a year to Queeny is once to often... IMO
Darwin already expressed they are looking at merging a few smithton area teams into the comp next year. Will be very interesting. At least there will be some king hitting, head snipping competition for south burnie with the twata blokes...

Looks good ans I am sure most of the players would agree but most Clubs have got ex-players etc on their committees that are in it for their ego trips and would not agree to it, sometimes people need to be at the "coalface" a bit more , needs to be fixed otherwise Soccer will take over and some of the bullshit "grey" areas in some of thes e comps, including the farcial Statewide of today is part of the reason Tassie is not getting a look in for a team in the AFL-THE WHOLE STATE NEEDS TO CLEAN THEIR BACKYARDS UP

Talent pool would be from west to sulphar creek. Not Devonport, thats Devonport's region. 3 quarters of the year being undefeated, Burnie lost the first game of the season. Plapp took over a side that had one 6 or seven games in two years. Maybe they were only the third best side, they only played Norky and Clarence once during the year, snuck over the line agaisnt norky, and beat the roos by 30 in the slop at west park. Plapp kicks the goal, they make the grand final, i think your being a little harsh.

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Stop it with such allegations, very well behaved are the Dockers boys when on the gas, Axe never used to play up at all !

Unfortunately its not just allegations. A life member I spoke to this morning was disappointed/frustrated with last weekends antics (this not the first year this stuff has happened). Some damage done & the bar broken into Sunday night - no doubt as always it was a minority but still not good.

I think Whisky the bar grill was pulled down but not actually broken into, and several peices of chicken used as missiles too, all in all not that much damage done. Took a while to clean up though apparently!

Any one hear who won the Ray Mills Medal? They tell me he was a surprise guest of the club late Monday night. Dressed to nines apparently.

They should get rid of all the ********s responsible, seconds or seniors, names or no names, maybe a few of the Dockers need to realise that maybe they are not as good as what they think and need to be held responsible for their actions.A small town finds these things out and if they cannot handle their grog, give it up, these blokes are heroes to some kids and should act accordingly both on and off the field

Dont worry about the Mills medal, maybe thats why a couple of them dropped off their performances in the latter half of the year, if on the gas which can be bonding, dont disrespect your surroundings, half of the Dockers would not have even played in the seconds years ago, bigheads !

Couldn't agree more Mooch, i think you will find that some of these players may be asked to leave!

No maybes thats why they dropped off. Took no personal pride in their preparation and their on field efforts followed suit as it does. They didn't want to commit to State Wide. Only a handfull of people gave their all and the rest went along just for the ride. There are many that should hang their heads in shame. They want 2 sides out of Burnie? Well i reckon they want to get it right with the one they have got first.

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Docker, Clinton Brown to coach North Hobart in 2010?, Clinton Stretton to coach Yolla? Hopefully the Dockers board can convince Justin Plapp to stay. Has done wonders with the Burnie Football club. I agree with most of you the club needs a huge clean out players and committee members. Also heard that Penguin are keen to talk to a ruckman from Burnie about coaching in 10?

I was told this morning that Kent Wylie has been appointed non-playing coach at Yolla. Any Yolla folks out there who can confirm this?

Brown is a wanted man and if he wants will coach the Southern Demons. Why wouldn't clubs try and get him. Complete and utter professional. To see what he has had to put up with in the past 2 years has been nothing short of disgracefull. When he wins back to back b&fs and he will i hope he tells them how it is. Definetly won't play at Burnie along with about 10 other players that played in the Pre Final. To the prick and you know who you are that is trying to enforce the sacking of Plapp who gave everything and more for a club that has stabbed him in the back all year yes all year you are a very very poor man. You make me sick. I hope you slip on a bit of CARPET

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Is this the Justin Plapp thread? Seeings it is now, are Burnie trying to get rid of him? And why if this is true?

I dont think all of Burniewants top get rid of Justin. A boardman, and a few players I have heard. I think they should find new homes and let plappy do what he does best.

Any news on the following:

Seniors and Twos coach for Cuprona, Yeoman, Queenstown and Ridgley. Is Duffy staying at the pies?

I dont know Brown really well at all. But the few games I have seen and the training runs that he has taken at the Dockers are great. I feel he would make a great coach. Maybe Brown for Burnie of Plappy does go, but I have heard that Browny will coach his brotherat North Hobart. I did hear today though that Penguin are keen.

Kurt Young and Ben Hayes to coach the ones and they are trying to see if they can get a top class senior player to coach the twos, Soden won't go to Queenstown ever either

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Any truth in the rumour that former Cuprona coach Darryl Browne is returning to the N.W.F.A.? Also what names have been floting around for the Yeoman, Cuprona, Queenstown, Natone jobs. Is Matthew Wooldridge also playing at Yolla in 2010?
