That's Bomber Thompson all over. He is more jokey than arrogant.

Also, where is Bomber in all this. Not on any texts, no conversations being recalled. Every one in the heirarchy at Essendon except Thompson has been given a bullet. Oh, he helped bring Robinson across. But then the trail goes cold.

That didn't stop Caroline Wilson from calling for his head before anyone else's. She's gone strangely quiet on that stance since.

Bomber Thompson did himself no favours tonight on 360.

When asked who he reported to in 2012, he answers 'no one'. Then after a small pause, suggests he's only kidding. Showing little care for the situation.
He then can't actually answer the question with any certainty that it was Hamilton or Corcoran that he answered to.

If there was a time to not show smugness it was now. Also, it wasn't that bright to admit that he didn't attend the press conference, nor found the time to read the entire report, yet claim that it was spot on.

He then follows up with a comment about how there needs to be some sort of uniform information available to all players, so they know what substances they can and can't take. Oh, the irony.

I'm sure ASADA and WADA will be looking into some sort of 'code' that players can rely on.:rolleyes:
This is the whole problem and why only part of the Ziggy report was released. It is quite clear that there were no safeguards in place, no reporting to the board and minimal reporting to the CEO. The internal controls didn't work, because Hird, Robinson & Dank found them softer than Brisbane's midfield.

It is clear that the report will be used to fire some in the football depart and Robson too. The board will wait until player suspensions are handed down and then do a complete cleanout of the football department.

Maybe Matthew Knights might get his job back, after all at least he didn't try and kill the club unlike the favourite sons.

Deeply apologetic...then nothing, no action,

Dysfunctioal boys club

At least Essendon members got an apology, unlike Adelaide members/supporters who have been treated with total disdain after "HeWhoMustNotBeNamed-gate" and the future mess we have been left in re the draft.

And what gets lost in all this, is that the safety of the players could have been compromised. Evans may indeed be getting advice from "pharmacologists" that the substances were "safe" - but are they safe in injection or IV form? Are they safe in combination with each other? What about long term effects? NOBODY can say for sure these substances won't have long term effects because the damned things haven't been around that long. It pisses me off how blase they all seem about it.

So you are saying Hird isn't the coach? He is only a figure head?
No, I clearly stated that he is "Learning the trade". With 3 more years to coach under the experienced observation of Bomber, Hird will be cherry ripe by the end of the new contract.

What's my view on the whole thing...

Fat Vlad will use ziggys report as a glowing example of what a fantastic club essendon* is and drop all charges against them because hird and his good friend Dave Evans, the father of his mentor at AFL hq, are such fantastic fellows.

Fat Vlad will trump up a load of charges against the rest of the comp for being so jealous of that fantastic club Essendon* and will award Essendon* the 2013 premiership immediately.

WADA will complain to the Australian government who will pull the governments funding from the AFL and next year every Essendon* player will come out looking like Ron Coleman.

This report has been carefully reworded to paint Essendon* in the best possible light... and the AFL is allowing this to happen.

Who seems blasé? Evans? Hird? Stop talking shit.

Don't you think the experts would have considered all forms used?

I actually don't recall Evans saying "Safety profile". I was sure he said that based on the advice from the 2 Pharmacologists that no player would be suspended.

But to answer your question, I think "Safety Profile" in this context means that they most likely wont grow another testicle.

Now that would be performance enhancing.

I'd suggest the expert pharmacologists would know far more than you or I. If they deem they are safe I'm not arguing with them.

I work in drug design and discovery. I'm telling you, not enough research has been done on these drugs either in isolation or in combination for anyone to be able to confidently say there will be no long term side effects.

Any journo worth their salt tomorrow should preface Ziggy Swifty articles with:

Switkowski, an Essendon Football Club member was commissioned by the Essendon board to investigate governance practices. The terms were set by the Essendon Football Club, and it appears that the Board did not question his failure to interview Dean Robinson and Stephen Dank. This was not an independent review.
