This statement from Koch highlights just how much being Chairman of the PAFC is just a vanity project for him. The morning TV show buffoon is desperate to have everyone like him so of course he wants every AFL supporter to either support Port or have Port as their second favourite team.
True Port supporters don't have second favourite teams and don't expect non-Port supporters to be any different.
As others have posted Koch has achieved nothing that couldn't have been achieved by others, he takes credit for achievements he wasn't involved in and has done almost irreparable damage to the culture of the PAFC.

I specifically remember driving to the Round 3, 2013 Showdown at Footy Park listening to 5AA and Koch was doing a pre-game interview with them.
Even then, in that radio spot, he used the "we're just a little club of battlers from Alberton" (verbatim).
Three games into his chairmanship!

Atleast they did attempt to ask some reasonable and valid questions.
Of course any criticism the club don't care about when the succession plan is questioned. "That is the outside opinion, not the inside opinion" It is a cult and they just double down.
I think not listening to outside opinions makes you insular. Sums up Koch, Hinkley, Davies, Richardson pretty well.

Media is Kochie's environment. He knows how to control a narrative.
The majority of journos likes to portrait themselves as people "who say truth to power," but in reality they don't. Kochie knows how to take advantage of that.
