As an outsider, Koch has been amazing for the club, and in hindsight could be seen as the savour of the club.
He came in at rock bottom, and gave the club a high profile leader who went to bat for the club, in an adversarial way if needed, to get the best outcome. Was front and centre for the AO move, and brought about the one club.

His profile gave the club a higher presence in the media, brought in new sponsors and he absolutely helped manage the books at the club.
Financially and off field the club has never been better.
The clubs debt has gone from 12 million down to a low 1.8 million as of today. Even while reducing the debt the club has still managed to upgrade their training facilities at Alberton, turning the ground into a very good home with excellent facilities, something the Crows are still trying to achieve.

Some may say his public spats with Kenny, and the lack of a flag bring him down, but it's not the President's job to do that, it's the list managers and coaches, it's up to him to give those guys the tools they need to achieve that, which he has. Ports list manager is one of the best in the business, and has been able to attract talent to the club. He is also pretty good with talent id at the draft.

I think he has saved Port.

No one denies Kochie that fact but the issue is that he is too involved with the coaching and playing group. The soft culture Kochie has brought to the club has washed down to all levels. On field success is not his primary concern and a winning attitude has been substituted for "stability" to keep the sponsors happy. The fans have been completely ignored during this process and they are angry with the on field outcomes it has produced.

As an outsider it would appear that way as he claims all the credit.

Which is part of the issue.

An apt username for peddling the incompetency apologist gospel.

I actually see it the opposite. He has critiqued the coaching and performances publicly, putting a heap of pressure on them. I thought it was accepted that he wasn't a great fan of Ken and was looking to get rid of him at some point. The reality was that every time Ken had a contract renewal the club was flying on the field going into finals, and you couldn't have a coach without a contract heading into finals.

I mean I'm not replying to that idiot but WTF does a coach have to be under contract going into a finals series? The tired worn out excuse of "its a distraction" just doesn't wash with me. Like that should make any difference to how you perform. I want a coach who's on the edge. Who's future rides on the result. Not an "Oh well, I'm safe and theres always next year".

Hardly surprising given a lot of ex-players, particularly the Magpies era, have been treated like lepers by this administration. Need to be kept at arms length because they actually have demanding expectations.

The club is now infested with beta yes men & woke campaigners, which isn’t particularity an attractive environment for alpha male type personalities. Adam Kingsley wouldn’t last a single week under this current regime.

Short answer: no. The long answer: no, we are not 'members' with rights - aside from recommending two 'member-elected' directors - in relation to the corporate entity. The only relevant 'members' in this regard are the directors.
Not even, the only member in this regard is actually the AFL.

Hmmm, not sure how to respond to that comment other than you might want to look back to 2015, then go forwards regarding Kochie, Ken and the change in culture during that period.

BLOODY WELL SAID !

There needs to be a pinned post at the top of this thread “The Adelaide Oval move was in place before David Koch arrived” Something he had zero involvement with continues to be highlighted as one of his great achievements.
Even beyond that he gets too much praise. After our move to AO membership bounce, we've trended down from in the top third of club memberships to mid-table. In a decade that's increased AFL dividends to a degree even North is no longer debt laden, we've still got the last to clear.

Really I don't think Koch deserves praise for anything. The AO move, OneClub (to stop the fractured base), the key drivers of Memberships were done before his arrival. IMO, with the move to AO and Burgess coming on board, almost anyone could have done as well. Mostly likely better, as most wouldn't have pissed off the likes of Lockhart Road , who helped hand him a new revenue stream on a platter (that they then due to ego failed to get anywhere near the value out of it, it could have been).

Whenever I see anyone (usually non-Port people) praising Koch, all I think of is.

Actually, the issue may actually be that he is not involved enough. Think about that for a minute.

I don't know as much about the inner workings of your club, so I would have to default to the Port supporters who are invested in it.
My take is purely as someone who has seen the improvement of the club off field, from where things were pretty grim, to what is really a healthy side, financially, and stable.
I drove past the club the other day for work and I was impressed by the training facilities and the whole set up down there, so when looking at that, and the massive reduction in debt, I think that's quite impressive.

Anyway, I have outlived my welcome.
