What's in Mackay's corner is that the AFL will have to consider that a Vic favourite son might do this on the eve of finals

They won't want to box themselves in
They’d love nothing more than the opportunity to backflip later in the year!

The only guy I have seen say it should be a suspension is King. And unless the game is actually played from a lab with a pause button and slow motion he has no case.
He’s just a big advocate for getting anything to do with the head out of the game, intentional, reckless, accident or theoretical.

According to On The Couch... matter was referred to the tribunal because the incident didn't fit under the existing rough conduct rules

However when the charges came through he's been charged with rough conduct

It doesn't fit under the current rules, so they'll make up new ones, after the fact. Nothing surer.

I think that’s part of the legal review to ensure the tribunal has jurisdiction

They got told there needed to be a charge

how long to they outlaw the bump altogether?.. whether its an intentional bump or not and no matter where on the opponents body the bump impacts..

in the NRL it called a shoulder charge.. arm tucked in, not arms out trying to tackle, and charging at your opponent to drop your shoulder into them and put them on their arse. and its not allowed, instant penalty.

I think this will be the next path the AFL take.. ban the bump altogether and the only way you stop or slow your opponent is to tackle them.

this is a whole other conversation though and irrelevant to the dmac case.. this is just two players colliding.. im just saying that the bump will be the next to go.

Can someone tell me what happens in accordance with the the “new” (on the fly) rules, if the 2018 showdown incident repeats? when 2 teammates Dougie and MM run into each other at top speed, one gets concussed and the other is out for 10 weeks with a syndesmosis injury?

Do 2 blokes get suspended from the same team?

This is actually a great opportunity for our club to grow up, grow a set and say 'we won't take this crap anymore'.

At some stage we need to stand up and not allow ourselves to be constantly screwed over. We basically need to grow up as a club. We will have to do it at some stage, and this present the perfect opportunity.

We should be on the front foot defending Mackay. We should be publicly questioning Hocking's involvement. We should be critical of the lack of charge.

It is likely that when we do draw a line in the sand, we won't win the actual case, but it will make the VFL take notice that we won't simply roll over anymore. This will have much more beneficial results down the track.

It doesn't matter if Mackay gets suspended for our club, so this is the best opportunity to make a stand.
You do realise the vast majority of the AFC board is appointed but he AFL?

The one factor largely ignored in all of this is the fact there was no free kick paid. Looking at the footage umpire no. 13 is very close to the incident and has an unobstructed view. Play on is called.

Will umpire 13 (Nick Brown) be dropped? If he isn’t and DMac gets suspended then the corruption will be obvious fir all to see.

EDIT: Ignored until the post above...

This is Mackays legacy. This is his moment. David will forever be known as the man who didnt break any rules but got 3 weeks, and altered the game forever

It will be known as the “Mackay Ruling” and finally, after 230 games and 13 years in the competition, people might actually pronounce and spell his name right.
