I just feel that the umpires themselves are on a hiding to nothing, quickly becoming irrelevant if continually second guessed

Absolutely.

The only reason umpires exist is because when the game was conceived the technology to make the decisions with 100% accuracy didn't exist (it still doesn't).

How many people go to a library to get a book on something these days when they can just go to wikipedia?

The decisions of the on field umpires have already become irrelevant in certain cases (run outs/stumpings/bump ball/ground catches). I think they should be able to do the same things with bat pad etc as well.

Modern times and technology mean we don't need human error. That's what progress is about. Why make mistakes if you don't have to. That's just stupid and unnecessary.

People who are satisfied with making errors are those who get no-where in life.

Don't understand this at all, if mistakes and human error were taken out of the game full stop then why would the sport even exist !!!

If any spinners do well at this ground it's day four or five - not day 1 or two

It just frustrates me this unfair critisim of him

That's what I was saying in my first reply to your post. So I agree with you.

Marsh looking very nervous at the crease.
