Forget the 5pm deadline, any chance of Beams going to the Lions is dead.

We now have to go to Beams management (because apparently Dayne can't speak for himself) and give them the 2 options, a trade to another club or being a Pies player in 2015.

They are the only 2 options now, I'd love to see Beams traded to another club now, it would ensure he never plays for Brisbane and also gets rid of him, a player who does not want to play for us anymore.

Couldn't agree with you more.

It's almost 12.30 and the talks have not progressed to stage where the deal can even get done in even a few days. In about 4 hours they will and they well should end the talks with Brisbane.

However, there is too much damage done now where I don't think he can return to the club. Once a player requests a trade, I think that's it and he must not be at the club the following year or it harms our culture. People have been talking about our lack of effort showed in games this season, I believe that will actually be a problem with Beams next year.

He doesn't want to be here next season and any club is now welcomed to bid for him. The best offer wins.

Great post.

That's my preferred outcome and think a huge chance Suns and GWS will come hard over weekend. They know he won't want to go back and needs to get be t best place. He must also know his terms might need to change or he will be at Collingwood which am sure is nowhere near his favoured outcome. If they can't afford him he'll have to accept less than the lions offer. ie maybe goes to Suns for 600k for 2-3 years. Both those clubs have selections am sure the club will accept.

Connors must be having sleepless nights figuring out how he gets his client and himself through this.

I don't agree, jack. That makes us look weak. It says to the afl teams that we will buckle.

Better we keep beans for a year and make a massive play at danger and walker next year

Beams will play well for us, after all, the 800k he wants is conditional in him being one of the better players around. If he flops so does brisbears next offer to him next season.

Punish both Brisbane and beams for their methods and beliefs. We can still arrange for beams to see his family more often so their will be no problem on that end.

We cannot bend on this. ever.
I don't disagree with you, but unfortunately I think it might be the outcome

"BL fans. Dont listen to those that have plans to destabilize us. Kids will not be traded. BTW Did you hear pendles wants out. It's that easy"

I'm gobsmacked that a senior coach would go public with that statement. Surely it's a hoax? And how dare he mention Pendles. As others have noted here, it's up there with the worst of BF provocative and smart a..e posts. Bucks would never stoop to that nonsense, has way more class and integrity. Sniff.

Mate we got bent over last year with 5 players, there is nothing fair about trade week, sometimes it goes your way, sometimes not.

Specifically they were 5 uncontracted players (according to one of your mob).

That was a totally different thing.

If Brisbane have learnt their negotiation lessons from last year's GH5 situation, they're making a very fundamental error of judgement.

You got bent over because your administration are a pack of amatuer pretenders sunshine, which they showed again this year with another half baked attempt to lure a contracted player away from a club.

PRAY Swann left no incriminating evidence behind or we'll nail you to the wall.

Shat in his face??

Its much more important that we stay loyal to those that stay loal to the Lions. Absolutely the right direction for the club and still fine if we don't end up with him.

I would be more than happy if we ditched the deal and went for Christensen instead.
Really? You are knocking back the chance to get one of the best 10 mids in the comp who is 24 yrs old and wants to go to you for allen christensen.

You can not be serious!

Not a hoax

You are spot on Matty. Although, as soon as that becomes apparent to Brisbane ..... they will send Aish and #5 our way as quick as Crazy Vossy could join a brawl outside the Prince

You lost 4 players who have been on the fringe of the sides they went to you only lost one good player. Most of those boys were out of contract as well. Beams is a better player then all those NEAFL players you lost last year and is contracted

Beams and particularly Connors will not want to be at the Pies next year earning just ~$400K when he is capable of getting perhaps double that at another club. I think we'll find that their 'only Brisbane' stance could soften in that instance.

Thanks mate, very interesting discussion here.

No doubt!

And we know GWS have the cash reserves and the means to compensate correctly. Their supposed "not reuniting Heath and Dayne" stance might soften also.

As for Brisvegas, they expect to get Beams and Christensen for a couple of draft picks and a loss of a 30 year old Patfull. They living in a fantasy land!

Seems to be one common club involved in shit house trades though or can't you see that through the Brisbane goggles.

Stop pushing the poor bugger me of the past. This is real right now. You have or should I say HAD the chance to secure a top class player who wanted to return home. You guys botched the trade because you were too arrogant and wouldnt part with what would have been an acceptable trade.

That's your fault - CollingwoodFC won't be bullied by some AFL propped up shit club still taking hand outs and struggling to find interest in a state that is more interested in the Gold Coast Suns.

Tweet all you want, spin doctor it all you want - but come round 1 the fact will be that you let one of the best footballers go for the sake of some pride. Don't go rubbishing anyone else on the failure of YOUR club!

Two things.

Leppa, you've gotta be more professional than that.

I sure hope we get a result soon. All this Macca talk is hiding all the trade news!
