GWS say they won't trade Boyd anyhow, "under any circumstances".

But the difference is that Boyd and Griffen wanted to swap clubs.

Beams is not giving us that option to do a great trade like that.

Otherwise, of course we'd jump at that.

Because Beams is a campaigner.

I think clubs and the AFL need to put a stop to this BS of players trying to break Contractors? This really has turned into the silly season and a debacle for many clubs involved being held to ransom to some degree.

Some form of penalty should be imposed for any players wishing to break contracts early IMO, something has to be done otherwise why bother signing Contracts.

Why not at the start of each Season we just pick 18 captains and have everyone else line up and than individual pick a team from that pool like we used to at school. Would Crisps be last do you think? Poor fella.

There needs to be an external review of our list management by an experience football operator. Dogs are about to get Boyd for a 29 year old Griffin.

Meanwhile we traded Heath Shaw for Taylor Adams. A good trier and clearance played, but very limited foot skill wise.

Exclusive negotiotions ceased.

As soon as we said we would start talking to other clubs they improved their offer. Nothing wrong with that. We put a deadline on the stalemate to give us plenty of time to work on other alternatives.

Haha improvement!! Crisp is a downgrade.

Cause that campaigner beams has bent us over by only wanting and getting his manager to tell everyone he's only going to Brisbane

Thats fine Picks and Crispo to GWS lol

We should be trying to get in on Boyd yet somehow our cap is tight....I assume we have frontloaded for next year
Have seen a fair bit of Boyd this year and he certainly hasn't impressed me or made the start to his career as Patton and Cameron did.

Very average on the lead, huge turning circle and is unable to clunk his marks when he gets his hands to the ball. For such a hyped number 1 pick and a ready made big body for AFL, he really should have had some better games.

Yep he may take some time to be a really good forward but in my memory most of the really good forwards showed a helluva lot more promise in their first year.

Fixed thanks, easy to see I don't do this for a living
It's still not right but I see where your coming from.
You need to add that Geelong gets pick 23 and Melbourne loses pick 23.

The fact I think we are getting robbed of pick 30 in this trade prob says that it will prob happen.
I just really don't want varcoe and crispe as I think they are both list cloggers

stfu brown, collingwood wont miss beams?.. how the f**k is replacing him with greenwood and varcoe gonna upset the loss of beams going

If you say so. I wouldnt really know I I'm sure hes worth something at least. I'm sure youre an expert though and consider him to be worth negative value.

5 and 25 is not far from fair value.

Asking for Redden or Aish was a pipe dream.

We will get unders for Beams but not far unders. Selllers almost always get reamed.

Alright peeps. If this 5 way mega trade happens and we do receive Pick 5 from the Lions what do we do with it??? Do we go into the draft and receive the best available talent at that pick or do we package that with a pick or a player and go after an established player?

if we go for another trade who do we go for and what do we need to do to get it done? Is pick 5 and 30 enough to get a Greene/Treloar or Shiel or other gun player from another club???

Interested to see what we do as I think we have another ace up our sleeve before trade period finishes.

How could our salary cap be possibly tight?

I just did rough (very) numbers on our salary cap. Released from 2014 approx $1.9m, coming in approx $1.5m. Say possible change from 2014 to 2015 of approx $0.5m and bingo you're over the cap. That's bringing in Greenwood, Varcoe, 3 x rookies + 4 draftees. So in effect those writing that we might be close to being full on the cap maybe right. This assumes we pay close to 100% of the cap which I suspect we do.

Doesn't take much to go over. Clubs must spend 95% of the cap these days, so wouldn't be huge amts left over each year.

I changed it so Cats get pick 30, may well be 23 though:thumbsu:

We should use 5 at the draft. Or try and package a trade to get 1 off StKilda!

Stretching things to say they lied. Negotiations did cease! There was never a statement that no further communication would be entertained.

Spin it however you like I was proud we put a deadline on this and as it turns out it wasn't really worth shit because of Jack Crisp. It's a joke!!

It's quite evident from comments made by Hine and Eade that our cap space is limited for next season but opens up considerably after that. There was talk of a "war chest" at the end of next season.

It is likely that we front ended many contracts for this season and next noting the far better quality of free agents becoming available at the end of next year.

Without Beams' contract for 2016 and beyond to worry about now, we are likely to have a fair bit to play with.

He's a negative in the same way that if we offered 5 + 25 + Blair for Rockliff Blair would be a negative.

But what would I know I'm just some armchair expert!!
