Adelaide could have traded Tippet for pick 12 and an end of first rounder

Instead, despite his obvious value, he managed to get to Sydney with the 11th pick in the PSD - no-one else was willing to pull the trigger

You're being a little loose with the facts there - Adelaide didn't have the option to trade him after the shit hit the fan.

There is one small-yet-important difference between the Beams and Ball situations - Ball was out of contract, Beams isn't. There is no walking off to go in the draft this year and there is no guarantee that he'll get to Brisbane next year - you can be sure that he'll be courted by many clubs next year if he does still decide to leave.

Making shit up on the go

Hine said on Trade Week radio on monday that he thought not attending the BnF was tactical and didn't concern the club

Clinton Young was recruited by the club as a free agent, put in our leadership group and every time bucks talks about him he gushes in the lead up to this season he continually highlighted how important he thought he was I think it is fair to assume they have a good relationship

Take that case to court we wouldn't win. I just don't see the need to completely turn on one of our better players because he didn't attend a club function. One thing is for sure I bet come next year the playing staff and the coaches couldn't care less.

On another note it is kind of interesting he is holidaying with Young who is supposedly one of Bucks favorites.

You don't see a need? You're blind as a bat.

I've got news Mother Theresa, it's not because he has merely refused to attend a club function.

It's the fact that he went out socialising on the same night where he should have remained at home with his Mum and sister like a respectful person. Instead, knowing that he is likely to be recognised, and the effect it would have on Collingwood supporters, he goes out and has a few beers with last year's troublemaker.

That not only displays a lack of emotional intelligence, but also common sense.

He completely alienated Collingwood and its supporters by doing that.

There are none as blind as those who don't wish to see JM ;)

I disagree. Beams has been on much less money and performed to a much higher standard, for longer periods without injury other than the one big injury he had. Thomas was on huge money to spend half his time on the treatment table and pissed off at the first opportunity. Beams also didn't string us along for eighteen months only to publicly lie saying he was staying only to go to our mortal enemy two weeks later. Further, Thomas went from Collingwood to Carlton, not back to Queensland where he grew up and his family are.

People have shorter memories. Beams is a much better player and has more of a rat bag profile so people are far less forgiving.

Beams is my favourite player and I am more disappointed to lose him but I have next to no respect left at all for Daisy.

Dale Thomas satisifed his obligation to the club by serving the contract entered into between he and club. Beams isn't. Beams is making it harder for the club to get fair return on him by closing down the options for his destination to just Brisbane.

Plus we could have matched Thomas' offer but chose not to. We got a good pick. End of story.

Lol Mighty I don't know about you but I turned 60 recently and have been a supporter for over half a century now so I lived through the '70's -can't remember much about them though lol - except those GF loses to the scum and their everlasting arrogance ever since.

NOTHING and NOBODY is worse than the scum.
What about Ebola?

Young lives around the corner from Beams in Kew - just near the KFC if anyone knows that area.
Wouldn't read much into him being with Beams overseas.

I'd do 5, 21 & Greenwood for Beams.
Get Brisbane to get 21 for Patfull and send Pick 25 to North.

Could hit the draft with 5, Darcy at 9 & 21.

I missed that from Hine so apologies for that but I don't buy it for a second.
The best tactical move for Beams given that his fate is in our hands would have been trying not to anger the Club even further.

As far as Young is concerned I haven't heard Bucks talk about any of our players in not a glowing fashion.
And he's been dropped during the season numerous times the moment he put a foot wrong which makes a further mockery of your statement.

Judging by Swann's offer of pick 5 & 25 and Collingwood's publicly stated need for an established player with pick 5 I fully expect Beams to be playing for us next season. I hope he has a nice holiday because he has some explaining to do when he gets back.

Surely there is no comparison here, Ebola is a mindless destructive organism which destroys any other organism it comes in contact with whereas Carlscum is a . . . . hmmmmmmmmmm give me a few minutes to cogitate on the frightening similarities here

LMAO About where this conversations has led to. It's weird how society seems to have a joke about EBOLA. It's ok to joke about EBOLA but not... Aids or Cancer or all these other things that kill you, I guess with cancer everyone knows someone close that's had it it's all awful.

It's not a crack at anyone whatsoever but just an observation I just made in my head just then. Because I've made plenty of EBOLA jokes and it could wipe out millions. Guess we at this stage are so far removed from it and hopefully it stays that way.

Some academic needs to write an article on why we joke about EBOLA even though...

Sorry, who was he drinking with? Last year's troublemaker makes me think DT, possibly Heater. I have heard Dayne & Heater are friends so guessing you mean him?

DT satisfied his obligation to the club? Too bad obligation doesn't include reasonable dedication to rehab. I also didn't appreciate the remarks about taking jumper 13 out of the bin or reports he was singing Blues theme song around Collingwood. I am happy we got a decent pick for him.

I agree that Beams could have handled things much better than he has but I appreciate his time at Pies more than DT and will wait and see what we get for him on the trade table before judging.

Whistling in the dark Mighty, it's just such a breathtaking threat to us that we feel compelled to 'cut it down a peg or two with humour'.

Seriously though, like the original strian of the flu which devestated the world in the 1930's (I think ) then the original TB strain later and Aids the cost in human misery has been astronomical.

We fashioned mighty defenses from some mouldy old bread and thought it would place us beyond the reach of these horrors but such outbreaks and the ongoing threat of golden staff and others should illustrate just how thin our walls are against the ravening menaces crouched in their shadow seeking our end.

Sounds like the Final Offer from Lions is Pick 5+28.

I be tempted to take that as we not going to get that Next Year

Agreed JoneB, I think it's kind of likely that we'll see a virus that wipes as many people as that flu in the 30's this century. Anyways, too depressing, talking about Beams aint so bad after all. :p
