We go into the dees game with basically 3 players from other clubs who we not in their best 22 for former clubs lasts season plus 2 first gamers and probably Buku who was not best 22 for us last season. How much that will improve us is a big unknown.

I think our one wood and advantage over teams this season must be marks inside 50. So we need Astro, JUH, Lobb/Darcy to perform and for other parts of game to be ultra competitive.

Here is hoping we bring our A game.

Obviously the selectors have reasons for each of these players in the lineup. If I was asked, however, how I would describe the team as selected, I would say 'ballsy'. I have some doubts that the above newcomers will be able to gel together to beat a seasoned team like Melbourne particularly on their home deck. We do need pace and carry, no doubt, but on paper this team looks just a tad experimental.

I’m all for change, I really think it’s a mistake leaving him out though - no one can convince me he’s not in our top 25 or so players after finishing 4th in our BNF and being one of our best & few consistent players last season.

If Caleb Daniel isn’t in our best 25 players then flipping no body should even bother turning up we’ll win the flag that easily

I mean I don’t disagree that we shouldn’t play all 3 together anymore, but cmon surely the fact that midfield got us to the grand final that year is more relevant than what happened in that 10 mins?

Ok, so 10 minutes of a game everyone played crap in 2.5 years ago proves this 230 game champion of the club, 3x All-Australian bonafied A-Grader for several years is "too slow".

As much as we have our selection issues I'm glad we're not finding out what combination of key forwards between Ben Brown, Josh Schache, Tom "I only eat Maccas meat patties" McDonald and Tom Fullarton should be in our forward line

That’s a pretty quick and mobile backline. Will be super interesting to see how it fares. O’Donnell is very athletic too, so won’t detract from that if he’s also picked.
