Ironic that Sydney were on the receiving end this week. They were pretty happy to keep Barry Hall on the list while he was busy coward punching blokes who were just trying to play footy.

And the AFL are good with Hally's antics because they elevated him to the Hall of Fame.

And Fox Footy are good with Hally's antics because they employ him.

Drowning in hypocrisy these folks...

I must say I tend to agree with the op on this one. Buggs a bit different because he went to far but I had no sympathy for Lamb at all. Lamb was clearly cheating and we need to stamp the cheats out of the game. Houli was just unlucky his aim was a bit off or Lambs such a cluts he ran into the swinging arm face first.

Any footage of the eye gouge from Webster? Was obviously in the meelee but didn't see it on tv and the dumb as spuds commentators never mentioned it
Given Freo's history, I wouldn't be surprised if the charge came about because of a complaint from Freo.

Scum of a club. The very epitome of the topic of this thread. Like to give it but squeal like a stuck pig whenever there's retaliation.

Nice melt mate
Did you lose a bet on Freo yesterday

How many people have died because of a punch to the head in a football game?

Christ people get hysterical.

Most of the people that die because of being king hit do so because of the damage done when they fall unprotected and hit their head on a hard surface. That isn't going to happen on a football field.

Not saying punching blokes should be tolerated but can we at least stop the hysterical claptrap better left to talk-back radio?

Quite the opposite thanks.

You can't deny the club has a history of squealing. FMD, they even had a trainer fabricate a story at the tribunal because someone had the nerve to retaliate against that sniper called Jeff Farmer.

I'd suggest suban deserves to be run over. In regards to the other incidents I actually agree with the OP. If you punch someone you deserve whatever you get. I'm surprised a player hasn't taken a retaliatory suspension through the courts. If someone assaults you, you are legally entitled to escalate the situation by 1 level to stop the assault.

Some of you are completely dissociated with the real world. Some genuinely psychotic rationale in this thread.

Is that you club motto?

Suban went down like Webster had snotted him. Webster barely touched him. In fact the Freo player that charged Webster after the incident did worse than what Webster did.

Freo players like sniping but whenever there's retaliation most take a dive (Suban & Balla yesterday prime examples).

Are you a saints fan or an encyclopaedia on Freo's tribunal record

I don't think there is.

The AFL for some reason, protect and encourage that cowardly off the ball nonsense.
Good players learn to work through a tag. Right now Sloane, Johannison and Mills are easy targets, and opposition go after them because they see how effective it is. Players like Ablett have copped a tag of some sort in every game in the last decade. When I saw Hawks v GC down in Tassie (where you're close enough to hear what's being said on the ground), I heard Luke Hodge and Sam Mitchell yelling out at every single stoppage "Okay, where's Ablett, who's on Ablett?". With the whole bloody team against him he probably still got 25 touches and 2 goals.

Niggling and harrassing your opponent isn't against the rules, and it's up to the umpire to see if a player is being held or blocked. There's nothing cowardly about any of it, putting your opponent off is in the playbook of every sport.

Adelaide really need to help out Rory. Two weeks ago he was taken out of the game by one of the most inexperienced players in the Hawks team. I didn't see anyone lay a bump on Howe. Have a look at the treatment of Crowley in the 2013 GF by the entire Hawks team.

Yeah punching players and knocking them out is awesome, people die from punches to the head you pack of Dickheads, pretty sure no ones died from having their top held onto.

Could you possibly be any more "herald-sun" hysterical if you tried?

Bugg deliberately threw his fist out, yeah.

I don't believe Bugg was expecting his fist to land right on Mills's button (hypoglossal nerve).

Of course they are. They constantly change the rules and their views for popularity, perception, and what's best for the image of the game.

The fact that some people think a bit of footy niggle is 'cowardly' but suddenly clocking someone in the head isn't, says everything about them. One bloke gets smashed in the head, the other gets a few weeks off from work from his high paying job with no risk of legal action or real retaliation. You don't 'rate' violence and yet you're actively calling for it because you don't like that Sloan gets tagged, give me a spell ffs.

And people need to get off their high horse about hypocrisy, every club has had, and has players that have done a dog act in their footy career. It's not relevant to the discussion.
