Hey guys and gals
Please help your Pies mods by not quoting and replying to trolls, just use the report button and it will make cleaning up and removing them much easier.
Thanks.

He ain't no Jacko or Pres.
That's an assumption. He could be a Got talent winner, a crotch grabber or hip swinger of some renown. Of course, he might also just be another sad loser at a keyboard, like the rest of us.

The worse thing is it seems to be a woman and her male friend that were involved.. This is not 2 drunk guys vs 2 drunk guys... This bloke clearly struggles in the brain cell department - have no idea why he would risk getting sloshed and accused of groping etc followed by smashing bottles on blokes heads.. You would think being an AFL footballer on good coin he would have women lined up chasing him - why put yourself in that type of a situation.. People who don't do well on alcohol need a good friend to keep them from going off the rails - not encourage them and **** up their whole career like his 'mate'.

The question I’m pondering is; will De Goey now be booed out of the game in Adam Goodes-like fashion, because I’m going to have a hard time not booing him myself…

So disappointing. There is no way to sugar coat this - it is the act of a complete & utter dickhead, with many prior incidents of being a complete dickhead. There can be no defending him, it is entirely possible to go out, get drunk, and not grope and/or assault.

I for one 100% support the clubs move to stand him down, we had no other choice. He had already had 1 more chance than he really deserved, and he just shat all over that good grace.

The only thing we can hope for is that someone takes a punt on him as a free agent, and we can get some kind of compensation. But there is no way anyone will pay him much, so that is highly unlikely. Another top 10 pick down the drain, and an already difficult season next year just become infinitely harder.

The silver lining in this from a Collingwood perspective is that it'll take the strain off our salary cap and make it easier to re-sign Moore and Maynard.

*If he's found guilty.

It’s quite frustrating see all the excuses on here being made for him. And the penny hasn’t dropped for all the people still waiting for ‘the facts’. The facts are there... he’s been charged for a reason

There is no other course of action but to sack him

- how many stuff ups now? And how many accusations of assaults does that now make it? It’s not Sier playing basketball under a fake name... it’s much more serious

- do we want sponsors or not? The political and media controversy from not decisively acting on this... De Goey is not worth all that trouble

- how do we expect our AFLW and netball athletes to share facilities with him? Sends a terrible message if we force that to happen

And all the talk about how good a footballer he is... he has a very good 2018 and a good 2nd half of 2021.

Had the odd cameo outside of that but was turning up to preseason over weight as soon as he got his juicy big contract extension.

He’s a bum. Hang onto him and there will only be more trouble and laziness from him

Whatever the club contemplating, remember JDG now has 5 weeks in NYC with no minders and no commonsense.

One rooftop bar down, 28 to go, eh?

If he was in California don't understand why this bloke doesn't have commonsense to go to Vegas and party in private at the bunny ranch where he could grope and more without posting on socials.

I think there's a possibility that money will be decent, but it will be a bloody short contract.
Cant be high end for mine if it plays out that he remains registered but is suspended for say 22 or significant part there of. May get medium dollars if a few are interested but to bring him into your playing group on top dollar is inviting problems with the rest of the list. Couldnt be rewarded with a new club and high money contract, would be a terrible look.

Posters in here suggestion potential new clubs when really, if found guilty he might be deregistered by the league.
Even if not found guilty he has been a continual source of aggravation and distraction for the club an playing group ever since he uttered those famous words.

I can't imagine any responsible club even considering taking on his b/s.

A club in a premiership window would be mad not to take him on if available.

It’s quite frustrating to see some folks don’t understand the difference between ‘facts’ and ‘allegations’.

If you believe that the sexual assault he is alleged to have committed over the weekend is ‘fact’, then why don’t you also believe the sexual assault he was alleged to have committed in 2015 was also ‘fact’? (Despite since being thrown out of court). And so why are you only now banging on about ‘facts’, why haven’t you been banging on about ‘facts’ for the last six years?

You don’t have to jump to immediate conclusions on everything you come across.

+ Nobody is making excuses for him. Everyone seems to believe he’s a dropkick. We’re only debating exactly how much of a dropkick he is, and how long the odds are he’ll ever kick a footy at senior level again.

They would be mad TO take him. All the negative press, association with sexual assault/crimes (regardless of guilt, he will always be associated with it) and it constantly being referenced in the media. Oh, and you'd never know what he'd do next.

There will be half a dozen clubs who played finals and think they just need a bit extra. Can't believe none of them would take JDG on for free on a small contract.

If actions speak louder than words & the club pushed Eddie - De Goey's got no chance of playing for us again.

Best we can hope for now is utilising his cap space properly and praying for a compensation pick should he end up at another club for '22 onward

I haven’t gone through his extensive rapsheet …

… but wouldn’t be surprised to find that every incident has involved him being intoxicated at the time.

If he was a short term need, particularly for an interstate team, a more intense effort can be made to police his lifestyle beyond footy. There are teams that value premierships and will move heaven and earth to acquire one. The cup held in the air, the North Smith medal and the players celebratory circuit of the ground will be all that's remembered after the GF win. Many fans will probably even want to give De Goey a hug. People have short memories.
