Christiansen is a more consistent Shuey (never tagged though). Anybody that's watched him play would give up pick 11 in an instant.

Requesting Brisbane makes me cry on the inside.

I've watched him play and i wouldn't.

Not in the condition he's in right now. Dodgy back, coming off an injury struck season. Second rounder and a player sure, but not our first.

Article suggests GWS could still make a play for Ryder or Beams, as well as getting Griffen. That sudden Sydney decision looking more and more like the AFL stopping them from doing another "Buddy move" on GWS imo.

Also suggests either pick 4 OR 7 plus a player for Griffen, and that Griffen is taking a pay cut to leave the Dogs.

Well the initial Ryder leaving rumour was to Sydney, there could be more to it so the AFL put an end to it to stop it from potentially happening.

It´s ridiculous that the AFL may have stopped Sydney bringing in a big name player. They have already removed CoLA and put in a plan for for its gradual phase out.

In the words of our moronic PM - "policy on the run is policy underdone."

The whole thing is just mind-blowing really.

I suppose it is lucky that Sydney has benefited massively from CoLA, so the fact that they are being screwed doesn't worry anyone too much.

Agree.

Unless the Beams trade doesn't go through.

If he can't get to Brisbane, and Gold Coast could afford him then pick 15 might be an ok deal.

GC indicated that they won't use pick 15. Apparently he only wants 400k a year as well, why haven't we offered him 500k...

Pick 15 seems ok to me. Compare that with pick 21 for Patful...

I'd love him, but doubt we would get him.

Yeah looks like he has made up his mind.

All these players being available and none for us :(

Geelong (Premiers 2007,2009,2011, Runner up 2008)
(combination of 2007-2011 teams)
B: Josh Hunt (ND-44) - Matthew Scarlett (ND-45*) - Harry Taylor (ND-17)
HB: Corey Enright (ND-47) - Tom Harley (T) - Andrew Mackie (ND-7)
C: James Kelly (ND-17) - Joel Corey (ND-8) - Jimmy Bartel (ND-8)
HF: Steve Johnson (ND-24) - Tom Hawkins (ND-41*) - Matthew Stokes (ND-61)
FF: Paul Chapman (ND-31) - Cam Mooney (T) - Travis Varcoe (ND-15)
R: Brad Ottens (T) - Joel Selwood (ND-7) - Gary Ablett (ND-40)
INT: David Wojinski (ND-48) - Cameron Ling (ND-38) - Darren Milburn (ND-48) - Tom Lonergan (ND-23)

Summary
3 Players got via trade (Harley, Mooney, Ottens)
7 Players from the Top 20 of the ND (Taylor, Mackie, Kelly, Corey, Bartel, Varcoe, Selwood)
12 Players from pick 20 onwards of the ND (Hunt, Scarlett, Enright, Johnson, Hawkins, Stokes, Chapman, Ablett, Wokinski, Ling, Milburn, Lonergan)
0 Players from the RD

This isn't quite fair though. The father son rules were different for Scarlett, Hawkins & GAJ and the worst you got was having to use a 3rd rounder. If these guys were first rounders (don't know how popular they were as juniors) that'd be 10 top 20's and 9 > 20's.

That makes a massive difference.

It sucks, but at least we retained everyone we wanted.

Trying to be positive but the crazy vossy does rise to the surface and demand trade action.

At least we are inquiring.

If we were willing to go after Malceski, could we try Cooney?

It's 5am tho so I can't be ****ed arguing the cost v benefits atm

Would he improve us?

I mean he would come cheaply but only if he had a role to play.

Brisbane would have to trade 1st rounders with Geelong I feel.
They can't do that if pick 5 is gone in the Beams trade.

The other option is Geelong accept unders. Which I wouldn't understand why they would.

If I was the Eagles I would be offering pick 11 for Christensen and Geelongs second pick.

That'd be a good deal for us I feel but still a sight better than what Brisbane will have on the table.

It's a shit load better than what the Lions could offer.
