I think that they love to delist as much as they like to trade players. I am surprised that so many got cut. So they will take 6 players in the rookie draft?
I guess Cam Bruce's base wage saved him?

i think we only get 3 picks in the rookie draft because we had sirra and mahony delisted/traded but they were outside list so they dont free up spots on the rookie list. that means wanganeen, schneider and bateman are the only rookies and venterans so there is only 3 more spots left with 6 the maximum rookies and veterans unless i am mistaken

Not happy about Bruceless staying and Ladson going but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles, expected to see Bateman retire but hope he has an injury free year for a change.

Menegola is disappointing but if you are chasing money early then so be it. Wonder if we will take another ruck in the PSD/Rookie draft.

Ladson was always going to go - now he is free to go to GWS where he might be able to contribute something. Bruce was always likely to stay because the club was always going to have the minimum of delistings from the primary list because this is a weak draft in which we have weak picks. Much better to keep someone like Bruce on the list for one more year, even if he doesn't play, and then delist him next year to maximise picks in the 'super draft' of 2012.

The club knows what it is doing. This is exactly what I expected other than the Mahony and PJ delistings. That said, I would prefer to see guys like Lowden and Grimely getting games than PJ. I guess this means we will be picking up a lot of new rookies - do we have to fill all rookie spots? Maybe they'll just leave some spots empty.

Is this a fact or are you just hopeful? James Craig was recently delisted by Adelaide. His lack of height for a ruckman (195cm) is against him.

I'm just hopeful but he was the best ruckman in under 18's 2 years ago and is now 196cm and his massive vertical leap and mobility make up for his height. Skipper was 194cm and he still did ok and he isn't as athletic and Craig+he has age on his side being only 20 years old

I am a great supporter of the club and trust their decisions, but when has Bruce ever done anything like what Laddo did vs North in Tassie.

Very, very disappointed to lose Ladson and not at all happy about carrying Bruce through another year.

For those Box Hill followers what happened to Mahony? Go back 12 months ago and everyone was saying don't worry that Stubbs has jumped ship, Mahony is a better player. He must have been a major disappointment to last 10 months.

The only absolute cert is Taylor Duryea and you didn't list him.... Surely an oversight.

Cam Bruce is a class act and can be offered another one-year contract that won't cost the club much. In a GF year, it'd be a mistake to delist him, IMO.

See the 1st 3 players mention and no Duryea,i watched him in the 2nds for Box Hill at Werribee this year and he was a cut above.I know it is a long way off AFL standards but he at least shown something not like Williams that was drafted the same year.

Can't and don't want to see Bateman in our 22 next season. Would rather see our youngsters developed and provided with more opportunities. Not to mention that they are faster and more skillful than Changa.

He has been a great servant of the club, but his time is up. That time comes for all players, even the superstars/legends of the game.

Can't read the game. He is a mile off VFL seniors even IMO. No tricks for his size.

There is always heightened supporter pressure on the scholarship kids as we are always hanging out for a freebie outside the draft to then brag to other clubs.

The reality is the scholarship kids are no better than most other AFL hopefuls. Some make it some don't. It is just that we get to follow some earlier in their careers than others because they were lucky enough to get signed up.

Must say I reckon the 4 mini-draft picks for GWS are a risk this to take this year given O'Meara and Crouch are being taken a year earlier than normal. A lot can change in a year - there have been many many champion 16 and 17 year olds who havent made it. And the other factor is the hype on these 2 kids which will exist throughout next season even though they are not playing AFL.

Appreciate that the scouting and development programs are far more professional these days but to make the call 12 months ahead of schedule has increased risk.

I would prefer that we snag one of the mini-draft picks at the end of next season having had another 12 months to track the remaining kids progress.
