Hang on mate.
Fairs fair.
Ablett tried to get 'home' because he knew his family was in trouble.
Trade didn't happen. Sister died months later.

And he'd done 7 years at gc.

Funny how extenuating circumstances only apply to players looking to head to Geelong.

give a greak buddy - not even a close comparison. Whe know the 'problems'

In 2016 Ablett requested a trade on compassionate reasons and GC flat our refused to even discuss a trade, advising Ablett that he had a contract & would be held to the contract.

He requested a trade again 12 months later which GC seemed slightly more open to. Geelong acknowledged that they had been approached by Ablett who had requested the trade, Geelong also acknowledged that any trade would be on GC's terms as Ablett was contracted - the trade wasn't agreed to until 30 minutes before the deadline and a week after his sister died.

The problems were known - Ablett doesn't like to put a lot of private stuff in the media, but this wasn't a hidden issue that those involved would have been unaware of & taken them by surprise.

Geelong never shut the door on a trade for Kelly and are open to trade him for the right price - Geelong has previously had to come up with the right price for players who are under contract and satisfy their original clubs request.

So in summary.

He wanted to move home for family reasons. Just like Kelly.

He had done 7 years, as if that arbitrary number makes it ok, but you left out he was under contract. Just like Kelly.

He nominated one club out of 10 in the state. Kelly only had a choice of 2.

In what world are picks 20, 22 and next year's first a 'right price' for a first year 25 year old? Looking at the points values that equates to roughly pick 2.

Get back to me on that one when you can honestly say that Geelong have approached these negotiations in good faith.

Well's orders "just one last dick please"?

Kelly is 24, not 25 - and Geelong asked for a single high pick

WCE apparently offered picks 20 & 22 which Geelong deemed to not meet requirements, so now there are negotiations for how to reach an agreement on a trade that adequately compensates Geelong for losing a player of his talents who would still be on a rookie contract next year.

Not sure where the 20, 22 & next years first have come from because the discussions on our board is that next years 2nd might be in play - very little about next years first
